Donald Lawrence has released his latest full-length album, Donald Lawrence Presents Power: A Tribute to Twinkie Clark. 

The GRAMMY®-winning legendary producer, recording artist, songwriter and music director delivers a reimagined 8-track project honoring the legendary Twinkie Clark’s early solo work. Blazing a new trail, Lawrence creates a packed lineup of special performances with bold, sonic melodies on new covers of Twinkie Clark’s songs from her classic 1981 Power album. 

Making a powerful celebration with the Clark family’s iconic voices and other beloved musical greats, some of the album’s featured stars include performances from The Clark Sisters, Kierra Sheard, Yolanda Adams, Sir The Baptist, PJ Morton, J Moss, among others. 

The album’s two lead singles are “In Him There Is No Sorrow” (with Yolanda Adams) and “Fix Me Jesus” (feat. Sir The Baptist, Jason Ferdinand & The Jason Ferdinand Singers). Along with the new album, newly-released is a lyric video for the song “Awake O’ Zion” (feat. Renowned worship leader and songwriter Pat Barret twill release his third album, Shelter, on October 13th (Bowyer & Bow / Capitol CMG). “‘Scatter’ is a declaration of who we are in Christ and what that means for our lives regardless of the circumstance, difficulty or the situation we find ourselves in,” shares Pat Barrett. “If we are in Christ we are a new creation and we belong to the light and it’s amazing how darkness flees when the light has come up.”

The Atlanta-based artist has found joy in creating these new songs, included the recently released “Better Hands,” that is like finding freedom in surrender. On Shelter, he mixes worshipful moments with simple, joyful songs highlighting the power of gratitude and the fleeting nature of time.

Barrett is a key songwriter and artist in the broader worship music community and has penned popular songs such as No. 1 Billboard Christian Airplay and Billboard Christian AC radio single, “Build My Life,” which was recently awarded RIAA Gold Certification. Throughout his life and this rollout, Tedashii has been vocal about the various trials and tribulations he’s endured from losing his 1-year-old son, Chase, to more recently, the serious fall he took backstage on the We Are Unashamed Tour. “At several points in my own life, I’ve felt crushed under the weight of so many hardships, and I’ve even attempted to end it all. It was at that moment I was faced with a choice, to live or die. Dead Or Alive is my journey of choosing to live, while saying to the listener what I said to myself: Dead or Alive, you decide,” says Tedashii.

On Monday of this week, he released this video, symbolizing the struggle he’s endured. This video was a visual representation of the artwork for his new EP showing the dichotomy of Life and Death. Designed by Kevin Hackett, you see an illuminating white light on one side of Tedashii’s face amidst darkness and laser sights aimed at his head from another.

Alongside the release of the new EP, Tedashii posted this performance video on his social media to the single “VICTORY LAP” leaning into the imagery of the lap a nascar driver takes after winning a race and symbolizing the victory Tedashii feels at this moment in his life. “Life is a choice you must make. The victory I feel after having spent consecutive days choosing life is indescribable. Even in the midst of facing so much hardship and enemies, I feel victorious, because I choose to live,” says Tedashii.

Consisting of mostly raps and hard-hitting 808s, this project shows Tedashii in a bag that his fans haven’t seen from him in a minute. He is very much the rapper that people grew to know him as in his earlier days as an artist, and this is just the start.

Whether it was on “Below Paradise” or more recently on his latest EP, “This Time Around 2,” Tedashii has always been vulnerable about everything he’s gone through in the hopes that it would become someone else’s song. He has become a beacon of hope for those going through tough times themselves and continues to do the same walking into this new season.

It was also recently announced in The Hollywood Reporter that “Unsung Hero,” Joel Smallbone’s directorial debut film from for KING + COUNTRY Entertainment, has been picked up by Lionsgate with a theatrical release date of April 26, 2024.
