LYRICS

Verse 1
It breaks Your heart
When You see me dancing with the enemy
Yes it breaks Your heart
When You see Your bride in adultery
Pre Chorus
You were meant to be
My only one

Chorus
You are a jealous God
You are jealous for me
You are a jealous God
You are jealous for me
Verse 2
You know my heart
How easily it wanders when I look away
But You have my heart
And there’s no competition when it comes to You

Bridge
You, just want to be close
Just want to be intimate, with Your bride
And You just want to be close
You don’t want anything
Drawing me from

Verse 3
I’ve had some idols
I’ve won some trophies
I’ve tried hard to make this world my home
But when I was thirsty
None satisfied me
The pleasure I once felt now, it was gone

Verse 4
Lost in the desert
You died to find me
You told hell he’s Mine now
He’s back where he belongs
You threw me a party
Heaven rejoices
They said welcome back home

Tag 1
You threw me a party
You threw me a party
You threw me a party
You threw me a party

Tag 2
They say welcome back home
You gave me a robe and a ring
They say welcome back home
You saved a seat just for me

Tag 3
Welcome, welcome
Welcome to the party
Welcome, welcome
Welcome to the party

Verse
I’ve never had anything as good as You
And I don’t think I ever will
They tell me that real love’s too good to be true
But I ain’t living in a fairytale

Pre Chorus
‘Cause if you’ve had it
Then you know it

Chorus
What I’m talkin’ bout is love
Love have you ever felt it
The one that comes from above
Above ain’t nothing like it
I’ve tried other loves before
This love that I’m talkin’ bout, talkin’ bout
It’s a real one, it’s sure

What I’m talkin’ bout is
Love
What I’m talkin’ bout is
Love

Bridge
It’s patient
It’s kind
Yeah I tried but I can’t find
No other love like mine
And I know, and I know
And I know, and I know

Download Mp3: Bless Me – Maverick City Music x Kirk Franklin

GRAMMY award-winning music collective Maverick City Music and 16-time GRAMMY winner Kirk Franklin will bring the injustices around mass incarceration – and the voices of 1,300 inmates – to center stage with the release of their collaborative album KINGDOM Book 1, out June 17th via Tribl Records / Fo Yo Soul Entertainment / RCA Inspiration. Today (June 3), “Bless Me” is available now ahead of the full project.

Maverick City Music’s newest single “Bless Me” is an infectious celebration of the bounties of life as they already are—taking the time to recognize the blessings already bestowed upon you rather than those you lack. As countless unyielding voices refrain, in stacks of traditional gospel harmonies, “we’ve got everything we need.”

image 1

Drum lines, snare rolls, and energetic horns call to mind the image of a football field or a pep rally, drawing a connection between these two spaces of celebration and powerful community. Rapid-fire hi-hat rolls and 808s frame the song with an unmistakably modern punch. More than anything, “Bless Me” evokes the electric, invincible feeling of being surrounded by your people and strengthened by their love.

“Kingdom,” the first song from the Maverick City Music x Kirk Franklin collab stayed atop the iTunes video chart (all genre) for almost two weeks. The album ‘Kingdom Book 1’ — a collaboration with Maverick City Music x Kirk Franklin brings the topic of mass incarceration into the forefront — and it’s out Fri. June 17th, the 7th anniversary of the shooting at the Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC (a native town of two Mav City members). The collective recorded the album with more than 1300 inmates at the Everglades Correctional Facility in Florida.

LYRICS

Verse 1
My heart has always longed for something more
I searched the stars to knock on Heaven’s door
Creation groans for God to be revealed
Every wound we carry will be healed

Pre Chorus
My eyes on the Son
Lord Your will be done

Chorus
Thine is the Kingdom
The power the glory
Forever and ever
He finished my story
We’re singing freedom
Our testimony
We’ll be singing forever, amen
We’ll be singing forever and ever, amen

Beautiful each color that He made
Your love’s the only remedy for hate
You’ll return to set the prisoners free
‘Til then Your will on Earth be done in me

If you’ve ever wondered
What Heaven looks like
It’s looking like me and you
If you’ve ever questioned
What Heaven sounds like
Just let it fill the room
