Melanie Penn releases her sixth studio album with the long-awaited music video for the feature track, “Follow You.”
The beautiful and unique video began as a concept from Aaron Craig, the founder of We Are Films, who is also Penn’s long-time cinematographer and video producer. He suggested filming the video in Iceland and Penn was immediately on board. The two-day shoot embraced the vivid contrasts of climate and geography, while sparkling glaciers, rugged mountain ranges and hot geysers made an impactful background for the video. When you add in Penn’s beautiful vocals and lyrics, it really becomes a work of art.

Fans will be able to view the “Follow You” music video at Spirit TV, The Christian Beat, JubileeCast and NRB TV will play the video on July 18, 21 and 22.
At the same time, the video has such a great connection with the song that was co-written by Penn and the song’s producer, Ben Shive. “Follow You” spotlights the musical message describing how we deal with the emotions of our heart that can eventually become an open door from God. Like a pillar of fire/That lights my way/Your love leads like a cloud by day/It’s Your voice I’m listening to/If You say “go” I will follow You/ I’ll follow You.
Penn’s journey with the songs and music of her new album, More Alive Vol. 2, comes with heartbreak, since the music was written during the long Covid era when she was caring for her father’s battle with cancer, who eventually passed away in 2021. However, it is evident that the strength of Penn’s faith poured into her songs.

In 2022, struggles still remain with different issues, but Penn delivers uplifting songs and thoughtful lyrics to share the hope that only God can give.
Today (June 24), Penn premieres her latest new music, “Follow You,” one of the songs on her upcoming release. A music video for the single will be released next month.
Singer-songwriter, Melanie Penn, releases another new song from her upcoming album, More Alive Vol. 2, today (May 20). “Peace” is the fifth song that Penn has released since January, with “The Story,” “Look Up,” “Just Jump,” and the original version of “The Melody” that are currently available on YouTube.
“Peace” is a soothing song that can center us during troubling times, with a piano intro that leads into Penn’s calming vocals. The song is about God’s eternal support even when we are facing sorrow and broken pieces in our lives. When the world is crumbling/I have your peace/My confidence in providence/Is keeping me from blowing in the breeze/All my security Is anchored in the promises you gave to me/That you are making all things new. The song was co-written by Penn and Ben Shive.
Penn will keep the new music flowing with upcoming videos in June and July, and a new announcement on Monday, May 23rd.
Melanie Penn will release her sixth studio album, More Alive Vol. 2 on July 15, featuring a full album with 10 songs and multiple videos. The talented artist released four music videos this winter/spring to give her audience a taste of the incredible music she will deliver in mid-summer.
In January 2022, Penn started releasing four songs from her album, “The Story,” “Look Up,” “Just Jump,” and the original version of “The Melody.” All four songs are currently available on YouTube and all listening platforms, with Penn’s full album releasing on July 15 that will be available at all music outlets.
Penn has once again teamed with Nashville producers Ben Shive and Cason Cooley for the project. Shive is producer for all of the songs on More Alive Vol. 2, with Cooley co-producing five of the recordings. The recording process with the team this time around was easier, since socially distance restrictions were lifted. Penn and her team were able to get into the studio for the first time in two years and work in person with the musicians.
“The covid era was so painful for all of us but I have to admit it yielded some of my favorite songs to date. In another time I would never have written songs like ‘Peace’ or ‘The Story’ – as usual God brought beauty from ashes! I lamented the covid era for a long time but after everything I’ve learned I wouldn’t go back to my ‘2019 self!”

Melanie Penn is a Manhattan-based artist, writing pop songs at the crossroads of faith and culture. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Falls Church, Va., she began singing and receiving formal vocal training at a young age, and even competed as a classical vocalist through high school. She transitioned to songwriting after several years as a mainstay in New York’s musical theater scene – a turn that included playing Sandy in the Broadway National Tour of Grease!

For many years, she was a main fixture in the NYC theatre scene and an award-winning musical theatre actress, primarily touring with the Broadway musical ‘Grease!’ She transitioned to songwriting and released three songwriter albums to critical acclaim, Wake Up Love (2010), HopeTonight (2015), Immanuel (2017), and Immanuel The Folk Sessions (2019).
