Reach Records, a pioneering label for CHH artists and a trailblazer for the genre, has released the official live video for “WALK” featuring Hulvey and Lecrae!
This year they celebrated “116 Day” and kicked off 2023 with the new single, “Walk,” which is available to download/stream.
Lecrae is heading on the road for “The Final Church Clothes Tour!” The tour kicks off on March 17th in Orlando, FL, and then travels to 26 cities across The South, Midwest, and East Coast ending May 14th in Massachusetts.
The tour branded “The Final Church Clothes Tour” pays homage to and closes out his Church Clothes mixtape series. On November 4, 2022, he released Church Clothes 4, the last mixtape in the series, and filmed two music videos: “Spread The Opps,” and “Still In America.” The 13-song album featured appearances from Andy Mineo, WHATUPRG, nobigdyl, Jon Keith, A.I. The Anomaly, and Jordan L’Oreal.
The mixtape series embraced Lecrae’s “righteous but ratchet” side. “I’m a child of hip-hop. I grew up with rap music, and God transitioned and transformed me when I became a believer! After that, people felt I didn’t belong in hip-hop anymore,” he explained. “The Church Clothes mixtape series helped them understand there’s a place for artists like me. If Wu-Tang can spit the 5 percent gems, Kendrick can talk Hebrew Israelites, and Ice Cube and Lupe can declare their Islamic faith, why is there no space for Christian hip-hop artists? So, the first Church Clothes (released in 2012) was about me getting mine off and spitting what’s in my heart.”
Elevation Rhythm and Doe will be joining Lecrae on the tour! For the tour dates and cities, please see the flyer below. Tickets are available now athttps://lecrae.com/tour
Reach Records is celebrating 20 years as a pioneering hip-hop label for CHH artists and a trailblazer for the genre. For two decades, they has introduced an unashamed lifestyle to fans who love Hip-Hop and Jesus! This year they’re taking CHH even further with their new show, “116 Life,” airing Tuesdays 8pm on Holy Culture Radio streaming Sirius XM Channel 154.
The first show aired on January 17th and features an interview with Reach Records co-founders, Lecrae, with CEO Ben Washer who shared how Reach Records started, the origin of “116” as a lifestyle and brand, Lecrae’s early recordings, and his first emcee name. Throughout the interview, they celebrated the past and future of CHH and Reach Records’ growing roster from its founding in 2003 to the present. Since the 116 Movement began, Reach Records roster has grown from its sole artist, multi-award-winning artist, and New York Times best-selling artist, Lecrae, and expanded from original 116 Clique to present which includes Tedashii, Trip Lee, to include Andy Mineo, and newcomers 1K Phew, Wande, Hulvey, WHATUPRG.
“Reach Records’ goal is to reach people and change the way they see the world.” – Lecrae & Ben Washer
Lecrae shared the live video for “Deconstruction,” which can be viewed below. The recording is live from Vevo Studios New York. Lecrae shares about the release:
The teaser for Lecrae’s ‘Church Clothes 4’ album is yet another example of the GRAMMY-winning rapper’s endearing self-awareness. Staged as a faux podcast interview, the entire concept pokes fun at Lecrae’s faith-based rap. “The truth is, you can’t have the righteous without the ratchet,” he proclaims at one point. Truth is, the Houston dude’s never been afraid to look deep within. His 2020 album ‘Restoration’ explored personal identity, specifically ruminating on things that obscure one’s true self. Standout track “Self Discovery” linked the impact of the slave trade on his African ancestors to the insidious fallout of a non-relationship with his own father. The last time we worked with Lecrae was for a special Ctrl.At.Home session shot in Atlanta at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. This time we’re celebrating the finalé of his ‘Church Clothes’ series. “I think every great story has a final chapter,” he says. Wise words from a wise man.
Deconstruction (Live Session From Vevo Ctrl) – Lecrae
As Lecrae releases, Church Clothes 4, he boldly stands at the crossroads of sacred and secular, a lane he unashamedly accepts.
In the ten years since the first Church Clothes mixtape (hosted by DJ Don Cannon) released in 2012, no one has been able to surpass the heights that Lecrae has reached crossing CHH over to the mainstream, planting his feet simultaneously in the street and the Church without compromising.
While the critics blasted him for not picking a side, the people spoke even louder, downloading the music for the original Church Clothes over 100,000 times within 48 hours.
Today (Nov 4), he brings the righteous and ratchet together yet again and this time for Church Clothes 4, the last of the mixtape series! He maintains the unashamed posture reflecting on Romans 116, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to EVERYONE who believes first to the Jew, then to the Gentile!’ emphasizing that his music also is not just for believers, but for everyone!

In Episode 2 of his Church Clothes TV short airing on YouTube, Lecrae explains, “I’ve always been a combination of my roots and my faith. I love God but I grew up in hip-hop and the hood. People always want to put me in one camp or the other. Truth is you (with me), you can’t have the righteous without the ratchet. They’re two sides of the same coin.”
While Church Clothes 4‘s first single “Spread The Opps,” recognized the opposition, his second single “Fear Not” acknowledges that our faith in God is bigger than our deepest fears! On “Spread The Opps,” Lecrae stated “I’ve been running for so long from the opposition. Since I was a kid, there were enemies, both physical and spiritual, that were trying to destroy me. I decided to stop running. This song, “Spread The Opps,” is me knowing that even in the valley of death, God is with me. He’s scattering the opposition.”
On the second single, “Fear Not,” he shares,“Everyone deals with fear. I’ve met some of the most hardened criminals sitting behind prison walls confess their fears. Fear makes us run, or fight, or do nothing. I believe the cure is fear is faith. Faith in a God who is bigger than our biggest fears. We don’t have to be afraid of the dark. The dark is afraid of the light within us. Fear Not is the articulation of that.”
A verse in “Fear Not,” speaks to the illusion of fame! “They don’t even recognize me when they see me coming all they see is fame. They don’t know behind these Cartier’s, just a little boy full of pain.”
Church Clothes 4 is coming November 4th! Check out the “Fear Not” lyrics and put yours to rest!

Securus Technologies, an Aventiv company driving efforts to better serve the incarcerated through rehabilitative justice, spearheaded the first-ever “Original Hip-Hop Track Contest” for individuals incarcerated in Department of Corrections facilities throughout the U.S. This contest, organized in partnership with Grammy Award-winning rapper Lecrae, gave the incarcerated the opportunity to showcase their musical talents and bring hope through the power of lyrics.
The winning song, submitted by Carmela Mose, has been exclusively released today for free to incarcerated individuals who have access to the Securus and JPay media stores on their tablets. The song is also available to the general public through streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. All proceeds from the song made through streaming services benefit the Prison Fellowship, a nonprofit organization working to bring hope and restoration to the incarcerated, their families, and communities impacted by crime and incarceration.
Through this inaugural contest, thousands of incarcerated individuals had the opportunity to submit original lyrics to one of three beats produced by hip-hop record producer Zaytoven. Students enrolled at Morris Brown College’s Department of Music, a historically Black college located in Atlanta, reviewed the entries and selected the top 25 finalists. Lecrae chose the winning lyrics that were submitted by Carmela Mose, a 37-year-old woman of Mexican and Samoan descent, who is currently incarcerated at the Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF).
Carmela grew up in a broken home plagued by violence and abuse in Long Beach, California. She was conditioned to be violent after following the footsteps of those who were supposed to show her love and support. Leaving that abusive environment at a young age, Carmela left home with no ID, no place to live, poor social skills, mental health issues, and an addiction to methamphetamines, all of which made it virtually impossible for her to secure employment and create a successful life for herself. While her hardships led her into a life of crime at an early age, Carmela is now focused on and committed to her rehabilitation at the corrections facility, where she works in the Prison Industry Authority’s Career Technical Education (PIA CTE) Carpentry/Laborers Pre-Apprenticeship Program and is one class away from earning her associates degree from Feather River Community College.
In late July, Lecrae visited CCWF and recorded Carmela’s original song “I Think” onsite in a room dedicated to educational learning. The song, recorded under Carmela’s artist name Good, was then mastered by Lecrae’s label Reach Records, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience and opportunity for both Lecrae and Carmela.
“Being given the opportunity to be supported, and listened to, by so many talented visionaries has been a truly humbling experience,” said contest winner Carmela Mose, AKA Good. “As I sat there recording my track, I felt a stark contrast between the me who was rapping into that mic, and the old me that was sitting on a bus on the way to prison. I’m grateful for that confirmation. Thank you so very much to all the folks at Securus, Reach Records, and Lecrae for lifting me up and getting me started on my amends.”
“Recording this track with Carmela onsite at a maximum-security prison facility, which houses many other inspiring women, was an absolutely life-changing experience for me. I’m proud to be part of a campaign that invests in those who often feel forgotten, and hopefully this contest will open doors for other creative campaigns to reach the incredible talent behind bars,” said Lecrae, who is also known for his social justice and faith-based activism. “Music is part of my soul, and I am humbled to share my gift and create songs that help uplift others. Carmela now has that same feeling as her work ethic, talent, and beautifully written lyrics will inspire the lives of so many.”
The campaign is an example of Securus Technologies’ further investment in the incarcerated community, encouraging individuals to explore and celebrate their musical and artistic talents.
“We knew this campaign would change the life of one lucky winner, but we didn’t anticipate the impact Carmela’s experience would have on all of us as after we read her lyrics, watched her passion during the recording, and learned of her personal story and battle to become who she is today,” said Dave Abel, President and CEO of Aventiv Technologies, the parent company of Securus Technologies. “The objective of this campaign was to ignite creativity and encourage participants to translate their passion through lyrics. We are honored to have the opportunity to work with Carmela and all the contest participants and look forward to continuing to host more creative campaigns to bring hope to the incarcerated community.”
Carmela Mose’s winning song “I Think” is accessible for FREE to the incarcerated and it is available for purchase through streaming services, such as Spotify. The song lyrics and photos can be found here. Footage of the campaign is available here. Additional information about the contest can be found here.
