GRAMMY award-winning collective Maverick City Music and 16-time GRAMMY winner Kirk Franklin officially announced Kingdom Book One Deluxe Album, out July 22 via Tribl Records and Fo Yo Soul Entertainment / RCA Inspiration.

The deluxe LP features nine new songs that were recorded on tour, inspired by its predecessor that was recorded in a Florida prison yard in efforts to raise awareness for mass incarceration. The artists were deeply impacted by their experience at the facility and felt such a new sense of being, empowering them to explore new creative sounds and worship. To help usher the new musical evolution, they share the following mellifluous offerings: “Exodus” and “The Name.”

The genre-transcending project features Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin recording alongside more than ninety-percent of a Florida prison, taking the idea of “prison performance” to another level. Joined by men from every walk-of-life – different gangs, races and backgrounds – this whole project evolved from an unfiltered message of love and universal acceptance and became a passionate, powerful movement that embodies the collective’s core beliefs of inspiring and helping others.

Melodies from Heaven was written by Kirk Franklin. It is from Maverick City Music’s collaboration album with Kirk Franklin entitled “Kingdom Book One” Available Now!

Kingdom was recorded with the inmates at the Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami-Dade, Florida in early March of 2022. The heart behind this project is to not only expand the idea of what the Kingdom of God looks like, but to also share and spread music and a message that taps into an inspirational and unfiltered love for all people.

Maverick City Música revealed recently on its social media that one of the surprises in this edition is the participation in Spanish of Brandon Lake in the track of “Tumbas a Jardines.”

The All-Star Gospel Celebration (ASGC) will kick off NBA All-Star Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio with an unforgettable commemoration celebrating its 15th year during the 75th NBA All-Star Weekend! The celebration is slated to take place on Thursday, February 17th at Mt. Zion in Oakwood Village at 8 P.M. EST. ASGC will be hosted by 3x NBA All-Star host Jacinda Jacobs and NBA Veteran & former National Basketball Players Association Vice-President Maurice “Mo” Evans. There will also be special appearances and performances by Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Mali Music, Maverick City Music, DOE, saxophonist Angella Christie, Keyla Richardson, and Anthony Hall.

The commemoration will honor doers and game-changers in the sports industry. Maverick City Music celebrates Black History Month 2022 with the release of the Breathe EP. 

The celebratory EP features the signature vocals of beloved Maverick City Music artist Joe L Barnes, Maryanne J. George, Naomi Raine, Chandler Moore and Dante Bowe backed by the Mav City Gospel Choir.

The Breathe EP features live and studio versions of standout songs lifted from 2021’s Jubilee: Juneteenth album, including “Breathe,” “Joy of the Lord,” and “Make it Right,” plus three all-new original recordings. Israel Houghton, Jonathan McReynolds, Ahjah Walls, DOE and Todd Dulaney.

The Breathe EP serves as a reminder to all who listen to take a moment to breathe and celebrate life and the legacy of black gospel music.

“In such a shaky season, it was burning in my heart to write a song that declared what Jesus teaches us in Matthew 7,” shares Cody Carnes on the inspiration for his new song. “It says, Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. The world can be in chaos all outside our windows, but when we build our house on Jesus, we can have confidence knowing that our foundation is secure. We’re not going down! This new song celebrates that truth. I pray it blesses you.”
