Through impromptu “Housefires And Friends” sessions, the group built its community out of many different types of people and spotlighted the stories of its members, whether joyful or mournful. The result is music that connects listeners to God and to the Housefires community at home, in a church or elsewhere.

Lyrics

Verse 1
I look to You, not the left or the right
You are my vision, You are the prize
I’m grounded in love, my faith’s taking flight
And hope is still burning through the dead of the night

Chorus
I keep my eyes up, I keep my eyes up
I keep my eyes up, I keep my eyes up
To the one that I love, the one that I trust, Jesus
I keep my eyes up, I keep my eyes up

Verse 2
Your eyes full of fire, Your face like the sun
Your robe fills the temple, from all the battles You’ve won
There’s nothing to fear ‘cause You’ve overcome
The work that You finished cannot be undone

Chorus (x2)

Bridge
And when the whole earth is shaking
Heaven keeps singing
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord (x4)

Tag
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord

[Album] How To Start A Housefire - Housefires

“There’s been one consistent question that we’ve gotten over the years of traveling to lead, sing and minister all over the world: how do I start a gathering like this?” says Nate Moore.

“People are hungry to be a part of an authentic, free-spirited, Jesus-loving, fiery, worship community. This album captures the essence of what a “house on fire” type of worship community looks and feels like.”

On ‘How To Start A Housefire,’ the collective offers celebratory moments, reflective gratitude, vigorous testimony and more. The album’s focus track “Keep My Eyes Up (feat. Ryan Ellis)” is an anthem of hope that fills the room with a melding of voices representing individuals from different backgrounds coming together as one body.

‘How To Start A Housefire’ is produced by Jonathan Jay and Tony Brown, who also created the GRAMMY-winning group Maverick City Music. The album features Housefires core members GRAMMY-nominee Nate Moore, chart-topping songwriter Ryan Ellis (Chris Tomlin, Natalie Grant, Matt Redman), Kirby Kaple (Chris Tomlin, Passion Music) and Davy Flowers, and features collaborations with artists including 2x GRAMMY-nominee DOE (Forever Jones), GRAMMY-winner KJ Scriven, GRAMMY-winner Chandler Moore (Maverick City Music), Harvest Grapevine and others.

Housefires is credited with reviving the way worship songs are written, recorded and experienced, embracing its sound within by visually demonstrating the community. The group’s core consists of Davy Flowers, Ryan Ellis, Cecily, Kirby Kaple, Chandler Moore, DOE, Ahjah Walls, Blake Wiggins, Harvest Grapevine, Nate Moore and KJ Scriven — together offering an unrefined sound that’s free of the safety and restraints that a normal studio, and even a live recording set, often offers.

Lean On The Lord – Housefires Ft. Ryan Ellis & Cecily

In 2014, Housefires forever rewrote the worship landscape when they released two premiere projects within a few months of each other. Since then, worship leading, songwriting, and collaboration were re-evaluated and reconstructed to reflect the Housefires model that embraced a more unfiltered sound and approach to worship from the writing room to the stage.

Their forthcoming project ‘How To Start A Housefire’ (1.27.2023) strips the veneer and illusion of “success and fame” within a worship or music industry context, reminding people of the foremost mission of the group. These songs are meant to be a resource for the church in thought and creed rather than elements to tack onto a Sunday setlist.

The group will tour early 2023, and more music news and tour dates are to come. In the meantime, new music and tickets can be found at housefires.org. Pre-order ‘How To Start A Housefire’ here, and follow #Housefires #HowToStartaHousefire.

HOW TO START A HOUSEFIRE
