Big Daddy Weave Releases Song Of Hope

Curb | Word Entertainment band Big Daddy Weave leads their forthcoming album with hope-affirming anthem “Heaven Changes Everything,” unveiled today (3/10) — listen HERE.

“Heaven Changes Everything” follows Big Daddy Weave’s chart-topping collaboration with rising star Katy Nichole, “God Is In This Story,” which held the No. 1 spot for three weeks.

The fresh track was written by Big Daddy Weave front man Mike Weaver, with Matthew West and Jeff Pardo, while Big Daddy Weave’s Jeremy Redmon produced the track in collaboration with Pardo.

“I was at an all-time low after losing my father, my mother, and then my brother Jay, who played bass in Big Daddy Weave,” shares Big Daddy Weave front man Mike Weaver. “Then the thought came to me, ‘What is it like for someone who doesn’t know about heaven?’ Because we have the hope of heaven, and because Jesus said heaven is right here inside of our hearts, it changes everything about the way we see life now and the way we see life in the future. I love that when I think about heaven, everything shifts and is put into perspective. I’m so thankful that heaven changes everything.”

The band is currently headlining their “Only The Beginning Tour,” featuring special guests Hannah Kerr and The Young Escape, through April 2, with more dates to be announced soon.

“So many of us have experienced loss and tragedy over the last couple of years that feels like the end of a season or a relationship or a certain path we’ve been on in life,” Big Daddy Weave collectively shares. “What we love about life in Jesus is that He is the God of new beginnings. Wherever we are right now is only the beginning of what’s ahead in Him, and we’re excited to celebrate that message with all of you on the upcoming Only The Beginning Tour.”

Known for honest songs that tell personal stories of freedom in Christ, fans have long admired the band for their openness. With songs such as “My Story,” “The Lion and the Lamb,”  “Overwhelmed,” “Alive,”  “Redeemed,” “I Know,” and “All Things New,” Big Daddy Weave has become one of the most beloved bands in Christian music. Millions have taken their anthems of Jesus’s chain-breaking love as their own and sung along to songs about the radical act of redemption. It was at the beginning of 2022 when the men of Big Daddy Weave – Mike Weaver (lead vocals, guitar), Jeremy Redmon (guitar, vocals), Joe Shirk (saxophone, keys, vocals), and Brian Beihl (drums) – found themselves needing comfort and assurance when founding member and Mike’s brother, Jay Weaver, went to be with the Lord on January 2.

After Jay’s funeral and the days following, with testimony after testimony of how Jay and the group have been used, the group wondered how they could go on, but their question soon became, “How could we not go on?” Their willingness to go through whatever doors God opens for them has kept them going since their early days as students at the University of Mobile, and their spirit of dedication to their calling and their craft shows up in everything they do.

Now choosing to hit the road again to share their songs with the masses, Big Daddy Weave is thrilled to have Austin French and Hannah Kerr join as their special guests. “I’m looking forward to these nights,” French shares. “I believe they will be special and I’m excited to watch the Spirit move on the Only The Beginning Tour.”

Kerr adds, “I have always wanted to tour with Big Daddy Weave because of their reputation for putting ministry first. That is so important to me, and I can’t wait to see what God does on this tour. These nights are going to be amazing times of stories, songs, and worship, and I’m praying that each night will be an opportunity for people to put a stake in the ground for themselves and their families and declare a new beginning with God.”

[Music Video] God Is In This Story – Katy Nichole & Big Daddy Weave

Centricity Music artist Katy Nichole and Curb | Word Entertainment band Big Daddy Weave joined together to release “God Is In This Story” earlier this month (June 10) to radio, digital and streaming outlets everywhere. The song is the new radio single for both artists and is being jointly promoted by Centricity Music and Curb | Word Entertainment. Today (July 6), the official music video drops, which can be viewed below.

The relationship between the two artists began when Nichole was invited by Big Daddy Weave to join them on select dates during the band’s spring 2022 tour, which was her first-ever series of tour dates. Shortly thereafter, she shared with Big Daddy Weave her song “God Is In This Story” that was co-written with Grammy nominated songwriters Ethan Hulse and Jeff Pardo, and asked if the group would record it with her.

The release arrives at a poignant time for both artists, with Nichole’s testimony of physical and mental suffering and subsequent healing reaching 150+ million through the viral phenomenon of her first single and record-breaking multiformat Billboard No. 1 hit, “In Jesus Name (God of Possible),” and Big Daddy Weave’s mourning the passing of founding member Jay Weaver on January 2, 2022.

Big Daddy Weave lead singer Mike Weaver shares, “It’s been a really difficult season of saying goodbye to my brother and missing him, but also a time of realizing that there’s so much more for us to do. This is a song of hope, a song of encouragement, that God really is present with us in all of the seasons of our lives – the really great ones and the ones that are difficult. God is not giving up on us. He is in the details of our lives. We can trust Him that He is working things together for our good.”

“The one thing that we all have in common is that we all have a story to tell,” adds Nichole. “Looking back on my life, I always thought, ‘Oh, my story is too broken, and no one is going to want to hear about that.’ But what I didn’t know is that people were actually seeing Jesus through my story, because God was turning the broken things into beautiful things. So if you think that your story is too broken, I promise you that it’s not because God is in it.”

Katy Nichole, hit No. 1 for the first time recently with “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” on both Billboard’s Christian Airplay and AC Indicator charts. “Making history, the song reaches the Christian Airplay penthouse in its 12th week, completing the quickest jaunt to No. 1 for a female artist’s first entry in the chart’s 19-year history,” notes Billboard. The viral debut single also continues its sixth week atop the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart while topping the iTunes Christian & Gospel Songs chart for 12 consecutive weeks.

Big Daddy Weave’s Jay Weaver Has Passed Away From COVID-19 Complications

Please join us in extending our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers to the family of Jason (Jay) Weaver, who passed away on January 2nd, 2022 from complications related to COVID-19.

“I’m so sorry to bring this news, but I’m also excited to celebrate where he is right now,” Mike Weaver shared in an emotional message posted on social media a few hours after Jay passed away.

Readers may remember that the CCM community has joined together in prayer for Jay’s health and healing a few times over the last few years. In August 2021, Big Daddy Weave’s bass player was hospitalized in the ICU for complications related to dialysis treatments. And in 2016, Jason underwent bilateral foot amputations and numerous procedures to curb a serious leg infection.

Mike Weaver continued, “You guys have seen him walk the uphill battle and you guys have helped carry him through so much…The Lord used him in such a mighty way out on the road for so many years. And anybody who has come into contact with him knows just how real his faith in Jesus was.”

“I believe that although COVID may have taken his last breath, Jesus was right there to catch him,” Mike added. “My heart’s broke[n] for my family here but also for Jay’s family in Florida. But we all just really wanted to thank you for walking with us through so much, you know, for so long.”

Mike concluded, “The prayers for healing can turn into prayers of thanksgiving now that Jay is in God’s presence. We will all deal with the heartache as it comes. There is that broken part in being in this broken place until the day that we are going to step through and see what Jay is seeing.”

Jay is survived by his wife Emily and their three children, Makenzie, Madison and Nathan.

The band committed to recording the song on the spot.
