[Video] 18 Summers – Matthew West

Matthew West Penned with collaborators Jeff Pardo and AJ Pruis, the reflective song walks through special memories with his family over the last 18 years of parenthood. The accompanying music video, shot in Nashville, depicts the sweet father and daughter relationship throughout the final summer and wraps up with the emotional college drop off.

Following the sentimental track release last month, Matthew West drops the accompanying music video for “18 Summers” – out now. Inspired by his two daughters, specifically as his oldest, Lulu, readies to graduate high school and go off to college, the tune is one all parents can relate to about how fast time flies.

Adding to the excitement this week, West notched three K-Love Fan Award nominations including Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Single of the Year for his latest “Don’t Stop Praying.”

The track, which is a call-to-action, a charge, for believers around the world, is currently number 6 on the AC monitored radio chart and number 5 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. West currently has three songwriter credits in the top 10 at Christian radio with his own “Don’t Stop Praying,” Casting Crowns’ “All Because of Mercy,” and Anne Wilson’s “Strong,” which just spent a week at number one.

West recently dropped his sixth book My Story, Your Glory (K-LOVE Books), a 30-day devotional to help guide readers to discover how God’s love can rewrite our stories and explore how God’s glory redeems every chapter of our lives.

With My Story, Your Glory, which was inspired by his hit song and No. 1 album of the same name, it is West’s goal to help readers reflect on the less-than-perfect parts of their lives and to point them to examples in Scripture and how God redeemed their stories while encouraging them to give God the glory in both the best days and worst days.

The 5x GRAMMY® nominee will be announcing new dates for his DON’T STOP PRAYING TOUR soon. For ticket information visit matthewwest.com/tour.

Dubbed by Billboard as “one of Christian music’s most prolific singer-songwriters,” West is going into 2024 after a strong trajectory in 2023. Highlights include being honored with ASCAP’s prestigious Golden Note Award, presented to songwriters, composers, and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones and releasing his double album – MY STORY YOUR GLORY.

He also celebrated another landmark success – he notched his 30th number one song as an artist-songwriter combined. 2024 also marks the 20th anniversary of his first #1 song “More,” from his debut album HAPPY. The inaugural track held the number one spot for 9 weeks – an impressive start to his now 20 years of radio accomplishments.

Jason Gray Joins Jason Roy, Don Chaffer, Phil Joel For Newly Remastered “Our Common Home”

Critically acclaimed Centricity Music singer / songwriter Jason Gray adds his voice to the multi-artist A New Heaven And A New Earth project’s single, “Our Common Home,” which has been remastered and is available today (May 17) at digital and streaming outlets globally from The Fuel Music. Originally released Oct. 6, 2023 around the close of last year’s ecumenical Season of Creation, the single also features Jason Roy (Building 429), Don Chaffer (Waterdeep) and Phil Joel (Newsboys).

Church leaders from around the world welcomed the song with joy last fall, declaring, “These artists felt called to express how care for Creation glorifies God.” The note was signed by:

  • His Eminence Cardinal Peter K.A. Turkson, The Pontifical Academy of Sciences, The Vatican
  • His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, Ecumenical Patriarchate
  • The Most Reverend Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury
  • The Most Reverend Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop & Primate, The Episcopal Church
  • The Most Reverend Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, Presiding Bishop, Church of Norway, former General Secretary of the World Council of Churches

“This kind note of welcome from international Church leaders is a testament to the spirit of ecumenical collaboration from which this project springs,” shares Reverend Séamus Finn, OMI, Director, OMI Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation.

Written by Chaffer, Joel and Gray, “Our Common Home” was inspired by Pope Francis’ 2015 Encyclical, Laudato si’, On Care for Our Common Home. This single from the A New Heaven And A New Earth project slated to premiere summer 2024 commemorates the Encyclical’s ninth anniversary.

“Our Common Home” is also heard in a short video documentary following the artists’ experience of singing songs from the A New Heaven And A New Earth recording at a concert held at the Vatican (Oct. 26, 2022). This documentary was filmed and directed by Joel’s daughter Phynley.

“This project has given me perspective, a greater conscientiousness about how closely tied care for Creation is to caring for the poor,” shares Gray.

Chaffer adds, “The more we discover about the connection between the health of the poor with the health of our earthly home, the more we’re inspired to pray, ‘Lord, we need to do better. Help us to do better.’”

“We are all coming from different places, gathering around a round table, all uniting around the fact that we need to take better care of this beautiful marble that we are all travelling around on,” sums up Joel.

Producing “Our Common Home” and singing and playing various instruments on the track, Roy says, “It was an honor to work on this song with these musical legends, these friends of mine.”
