Disciple Releases New Album ‘Skeleton Psalms’

Acclaimed rock group Disciple has released their latest full-length studio album Skeleton Psalms, an opus of life and death led by the singles “The Executioner” and “Promise to Live.”

Disciple’s Skeleton Psalms is the story of humanity told in three parts: brokenness, mercy and ultimate victory.

“Every single song is intertwined and connected with each other,” lead singer and band founder Kevin Young reflects. “They all deal with similar themes, they all have an element of being autobiographical. It’s almost like chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3: human depravity, the unconditional love of God, then victory.”

Skeleton Psalms was created in house: produced by guitarist Josiah Prince at his studio The Ranch, written by Kevin Young, Andrew Stanton (guitar) and Josiah Prince, with drums from Joey West and additional backing vocal support from touring bassist Marco Pera.

For additional support on instrumentation, Mark “Traa” Daniels (P.O.D.) played bass. The band called on mix engineer Nick Rad (Skillet), mastering engineer Sam Moses (Tenth Avenue North) and the drum recording skills of Lester Estelle (Pillar, Kelly Clarkson) to round out the creative team.

In addition to the three songs that preceded the album, Skeleton Psalms boasts the hauntingly visceral title track “Skeleton Psalm,” the poignant celebration “Resurrecting Reasons,” the savagely ripping “20 20 Blind” and the irresistible compassion of “For the Life of Me.”

Sonically, the album paints from a palette colored with every one of the releases in the band’s acclaimed 30-year career. At the same time, the soundscape that ultimately takes shape is wholly the product of the current lineup’s 10 years as a creative unit.

“It’s just the chemistry of the four of us having played so many shows together,” guitarist and producer Josiah Prince reflects. “We have so much instinct now for what the four of us would do on a song when we’re performing it. So when we’re writing the songs, it is informed by that. To me, this album feels the most like the energy that we put out on stage.”

The release of Skeleton Psalms is being celebrated on April 28 through SkeleVision, a special livestreamed album release show with upgrades for exclusive merch.

In their acclaimed career, Disciple has recorded 13 studio albums, earned 16 No. 1 singles, and sold hundreds of thousands of records. Their music has been featured on ESPN’s NFL Live, WWE, Fox Sports, as well as in commercials for CBS’ CSI: Miami and Criminal Minds.

They’ve received multiple Dove Awards and played thousands of shows worldwide, including a 2023 stint in 40 arenas on Winter Jam Tour. Currently, Disciple is playing both rock sets and leading worship through their other musical project Honor & Glory.

Trip Lee Shares “At The Cross”

Despite speculation that his triumphant return with “The End” was really the official announcement of his exit from music, Trip Lee, Dallas-born rapper, author, former pastor, husband, and father, has no intention of stopping anytime soon.

Now 1 year after the release of “The End” in 2022, Trip explains he is “speaking from a place of victory,” and he plans to illustrate what comes after the end with a new single releasing on the last Friday of every month starting with his latest single, “At The Cross,” ft. Madison Ryann Ward.

In addition to sharing his story and experience in this world for the benefit of others, it’s important to Trip to continue growing and evolving in his artistry. With his last album “The End,” he explored producing his own records for the first time in an effort to bring the full vision he has for his music to life. This self-imposed standard continues with “At The Cross.”

Produced by Trip, the track features dynamic sounds and thought-provoking content for which you can always depend on Trip. Inspired by the old hymn, “At The Cross” is a reminder of the glory that is at the cross, and aims to reposition it as a picture to live your life through as opposed to a moment in history that you can live your life from.

“’At The Cross’ is one of my favorite old hymns,” says Trip Lee, “and I wondered if I could make a dope song to honor it.

at the cross

This beautiful hymn reminds us of what’s available through the sacrifice of Jesus and encourages us to leave our burdens behind and walk in forever freedom. I wanted to put this view of freedom up against the views that most people champion today. There’s no destination better than the cross, and there’s no victory better than the one Jesus shared with us.

And no matter what kinds of guilt, shame, insecurities, and flaws weigh us down— we can leave those behind at the cross and enjoy the freedom He has for us.”

Trip adds, “Madison Ryann Ward is an incredible artist, and I love what her beautiful vocals added to the song.”

Trip Lee’s storied career began over a decade ago after a chance meeting with Lecrae and the Reach Records team at a show. 6 full length albums later and over 5 years of planting and pastoring churches, all while dealing with chronic fatigue, Trip is fully committed to music once again and ready to impact the world through hopeful lyricism and handcrafted sounds.

Looking toward the future, Trip’s aim is to “reframe and replace our vision of despair and deconstruction with hope and sanctification.” His new music is the fruit of his endurance and a reminder that even when we come to what feels like “the end,” There is More to The Story.

“At The Cross” is the follow up to Trip Lee’s 6th studio album, The End, featuring songs like “Supernatural”, “Witness” ft. WHATUPRG and Wande, “Stone” and more.

HGHTS Releases New Track “Need You”

It’s been a busy time for the artist HGHTS.  First, he released his new song with artist Joshua Micah, “Same”, then his new song “Hold On” just a few weeks ago and now he’s back with another new track title “Need You.”  Produced by HGHTS, this song is available today to all digital services providers on DREAM Records.

The song releases today and comes with the two previously released songs.  HGHTS shares more about what the song means to him.

“’Need You’ is one of those songs that was not easy to write. I love control and I have a very hard time giving that up. However, it doesn’t matter how hard I try, when I’m in control things fall apart. Once I learned to give God the control, things changed drastically.

It made me nervous, but I knew ultimately everything that to me was for my good. I am still learning every day to put my trust in Him. I hope this song can help people who are like me learn to trust that God will always give us exactly what we need, even if it’s not what we want.” – HGHTS

“This album is one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever been a part of. To be able to lift up a kingdom sound of worship in one of the darkest cities is so special. I know these songs are going to bless the body and draw people who don’t know Him into a new understanding of the love of God for everyone,” said Worship Leader BJ Putnam.

Led by Putnam and team members including Danielle Burns, Nick Day, and Charlin Neal, the recording boasts 13 original tracks rooted in spiritual truth. Penned as Bethany Church stepped out to plant their New Orleans campus amid spiritual opposition, it captures the spiritual hunger of their community.

“It felt like we were releasing a declaration over the land that this place that once was an altar of debauchery and wickedness would be turned into a place of worship, holy love, and righteousness,” said Burns.
