She shared her heart behind this decision on social media, saying she is entering a new season and her name change reflects a life of obedience, surrender and submission to the Lord.

Yahweh has called me into a new season. In moments of stillness with Him, He brought to my remembrance my names given to me at birth Mutiat & Yewande. Mutiat is an Arabic muslim name meaning obedience/devotion to Allah. Yewande is a Yoruba name meaning “the mother has returned” (aka reincarnation).

The Lord guided me to pray with my mother with whom we both share the Christian faith. From her & my time with the Lord I was renamed.
