Anne Wilson Secures Four GMA Dove Award Nominations

PLATINUM-certified, GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter Anne Wilson earns four nominations ahead of the 55th annual GMA Dove Awards, taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Allen Arena in Nashville, Tenn.. The recent recognition brings her Dove total to eleven nominations and two wins in the last two years, marking another milestone in her illustrious career.

Wilson received her first nomination for Artist of the Year along with nods for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Strong,” Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for “Praying Woman” with Lainey Wilson and Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year for REBEL. The Awards will air exclusively on TBN and TBN+ and simulcast on SiriusXM The Message on Friday, October 4 at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET.

“I’m so incredibly grateful to be nominated for four Dove Awards this year, including my first-time nomination for ‘Artist of the Year,’” shares Wilson. “God is so good and gracious to give me this platform to write and sing songs for His glory. I look forward to being together with all my friends and my GMA family!”

Despite being only 22 years old, Wilson has already amassed an impressive array of accolades, including winning a Billboard Music Award, multiple K-LOVE Fan Awards and nominations from the GRAMMYs, CMT and American Music Awards. The trailblazing artist also recently crossed the one billion global career streams threshold, just three years into her burgeoning career.

Earlier this month, “Songs About Whiskey,” Wilson’s “upbeat banger” (GRAMMY) from her sophomore album REBEL, impacted Country airwaves. She simultaneously will spin on Christian radio with “The Cross (with Chris Tomlin),” impacting this Friday (7/26). Combining much-needed encouragement, vulnerability and transparency into a perfect balance that footholds the space between the dead-end road paved in dirt and the church pew of redemption on Sunday morning, the Jeff Pardo and Jonathan Smith-produced record emerges as a powerful message of faith.

Collaborations with some of Christian and Country music’s biggest names bolster the album, enlisting reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson for “Praying Woman,” GRAMMY-Award winner Tomlin for “The Cross” and Country superstar Jordan Davis for “Country Gold.”

Last weekend at Faster Horses in Michigan, superstar Jelly Roll brought out Wilson to perform “Save Me” during his headlining set. The surprise duet stunned the crowd, bringing Billboard to claim “the gospel-tinged song [had] an extra shot of urgency and fervor.” She will continue to bring her captivating performance to this summer’s hottest fairs and festivals before heading out on her nearly sold-out The REBEL Tour with special guest Jordan Rowe this fall.

Music Review: Eddy Mann’s New Single “I’m Coming”

In the ever-evolving world of Christian music, Eddy Mann stands as a beacon of authentic artistry and spiritual depth. With the release of his latest single “I’m Coming” from the album “Turn Up the Divine,” Mann continues to solidify his reputation as a masterful storyteller who weaves faith and melodic richness into a seamless tapestry.

A Soulful Anthem for Believers

“I’m Coming” is more than just a song; it’s an anthem designed to resonate deeply with believers, emphasizing God’s omnipresence and unconditional love. From the outset, the listener is enveloped in the comforting assurance that no matter where they are or what they’re going through, God is always near. This theme is not only lyrically prominent but also musically underscored through Mann’s signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies.

Drawing from his extensive musical experience and deep spiritual insights, Mann crafts a piece that is both intimate and expansive. The song’s inspiration—an acknowledgment of the futility of hiding anything from an omniscient God—transforms into a source of comfort and connection. As Mann himself articulates, “There’s an illogical foolishness in attempting to hide anything from an all-knowing God; you just can’t hide a single thing, ever! But with that comes the comfort of knowing that His closeness provides a constant connection to us.”

Musical Composition and Production

The musical arrangement of “I’m Coming” is a testament to Mann’s talent and meticulous craftsmanship. The song opens with gentle acoustic strumming, setting a reflective and serene tone. Mann’s vocals, both tender and resolute, guide the listener through a journey of faith and introspection. The instrumentation gradually builds, incorporating layers of harmonies and subtle percussive elements that elevate the emotional intensity without overshadowing the message.

The lyric video, available on YouTube, further complements the song’s themes. It provides a visual narrative that enhances the listening experience, making it a perfect companion piece for those seeking to immerse themselves fully in the song’s spiritual depth.

Lyrical Depth

One of the standout features of “I’m Coming” is its lyrical depth. Mann’s words are a reflection of his personal faith journey, resonating with authenticity and vulnerability. The chorus, with its poignant plea to “hold on, hold on tightly,” serves as a powerful reminder of God’s promise to shepherd His love to His followers. The lyrics speak directly to the listener, offering both solace and strength in times of uncertainty.

An Artist with a Purpose

Eddy Mann is no stranger to the Christian music scene. With over 20 albums to his name, his music has touched the hearts of audiences worldwide. His previous works, including the hit single “The Consequence” and the chart-topping tracks “Hope of the World” and “Hallelujah” from his album “Chapel Songs,” have garnered significant acclaim. “I’m Coming” is poised to follow in these footsteps, further establishing Mann’s legacy as a leading voice in Christian music.

This new release also highlights Mann’s ability to remain relevant and impactful in a rapidly changing musical landscape. His dedication to producing music that not only entertains but also offers spiritual nourishment is evident in every note and lyric.

Review: Patti Spadaro Band’s “Glass Shatters” – A Powerful Anthem of Endurance and Unity

The Patti Spadaro Band, spearheaded by the multifaceted guitarist, singer, and songwriter Patti Spadaro, has once again struck a chord with their latest single, “Glass Shatters.” Released on June 8, 2024, this song emerges as a powerful tribute to the enduring strength and resilience of women, inspired by the historic occasion of the first female Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, being sworn into office.

“Glass Shatters” is a stirring anthem that began to take form during the winter of 2020-2021, a period marked by significant social and political shifts. Patti Spadaro herself recalls the emotional moment that spurred the creation of this track: “I remember sitting by the TV and watching the swearing-in of our first female Vice President. I was so excited to finally be represented in the second highest seat of our government. I wanted to celebrate this historic moment together. This was a true moment of progress.”

The opening lines of the song set the tone for an empowering journey: “Glass shatters, clear the way / Declare today a holiday.” It’s a clarion call for celebration and recognition of women’s achievements.

The song’s message is clear and resolute – it aims to unite women from all walks of life and celebrate their collective progress. Spadaro’s lyrics, “If we ‘keep rising up, never giving up,’ progress will continue,” resonate deeply, echoing the perseverance and grit that have driven women’s movements forward through the decades.

Musically, the track showcases Patti Spadaro’s signature style, blending heartfelt songwriting with creative lead guitar work. The instrumentation is both rich and vibrant, featuring Spadaro on guitar, Anne Celedonia on keys, and background vocalists Cherylann Hawk, Jill Simmons, and Alison McTavish.

The harmony of these five women’s voices is a testament to the collaborative spirit that underpins the band’s ethos. Complementing the female ensemble, drummer and recording engineer Eric Kurtzrock and bassist Ryan Black bring their unique talents to the mix, providing a solid rhythmic foundation.

Recorded at Blue Door Recorders in Pittsburgh, “Glass Shatters” exemplifies the local talent and collaborative spirit that define the Patti Spadaro Band. Spadaro’s journey from Pennsylvania to the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood and back is a testament to her dedication and passion for music.

Despite her success in Los Angeles, performing in renowned clubs and festivals, and opening for legendary acts like Little Feat and Eddie Van Halen, Spadaro chose to return to Pennsylvania to raise her two daughters while continuing her musical career.

The song’s chorus, “We should be waking up to celebrations / Women, this is our nation / Keep rising up, never giving up / Hear us Roar, Hear us Roar,” serves as a powerful rallying cry. It’s an invitation for women everywhere to take pride in their accomplishments and continue striving for greater heights. The lyrics of “Glass Shatters” don’t shy away from acknowledging the struggles women face, but instead, they focus on the triumphs and the progress made.

Spadaro’s influences – ranging from Bonnie Raitt and Tedeschi/Trucks to The Grateful Dead and Sara Bareilles – are evident in the song’s composition, blending elements of rock, blues, and folk. Her organic grooves and spontaneous jam sessions are trademarks that shine through in “Glass Shatters,” creating a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.

The bridge of the song, with its imagery of a lotus rising from the mud, encapsulates the essence of resilience and growth: “Lotus rising up from the mud / Grow though resistance, bloom from a bud / Float on the water, bloom brighter and broader, rise high.” It’s a metaphor that beautifully captures the spirit of perseverance and the blossoming of potential against all odds.

In conclusion, “Glass Shatters” is more than just a song – it’s an anthem of empowerment, unity, and celebration. Patti Spadaro and her band have crafted a piece that not only commemorates a historic moment but also inspires a collective forward motion. It’s a reminder that, with perseverance and solidarity, the glass ceiling will shatter, paving the way for future generations to thrive.

For fans of heartfelt, soul-stirring music, “Glass Shatters” is a must-listen. Visit www.pattispadaro.com to learn more about this inspiring artist and her music.

Music Review: Midnight Sky – “Every Now and Then”

Midnight Sky, the Dayton-based country music project helmed by lawyer-turned-songwriter Tim Tye, has once again captured the essence of heartfelt storytelling with their latest single, “Every Now and Then.” This track, the third single from their critically acclaimed album “Last Hope for the Modern World,” follows the successful releases of “Last Hope for the Modern World” and “Long Way Back to Town,” both of which found significant chart success in the UK.

“Every Now and Then” is a testament to the unique blend of country and Americana that Midnight Sky is known for. From the opening guitar riffs to the powerful, almost nostalgic vocals of Tim Tye, the song immediately draws you in. The track’s production is clean and polished, yet it retains an authenticity that is often lost in modern country music. The instrumentation, characterized by skillful guitar playing and a steady rhythm section, complements Tye’s expressive vocal performance perfectly.

Lyrically, “Every Now and Then” is a poignant and emotionally resonant track that explores the highs and lows of love and relationships. The song starts with the lines:

Every now and then

Something happens that you can’t explain

Now and again

A winter storm morphs into a summer rain

These opening lines set the stage for a narrative that is both relatable and introspective. Tye’s ability to convey complex emotions with simple yet effective language is one of the standout features of his songwriting. The chorus, with its declaration of an enduring love and the desire to “live a hundred years in just one day,” is both uplifting and deeply moving. It speaks to the universal longing for timeless love and the joy of shared experiences.

Musically, the song integrates elements of traditional country with the broader, more inclusive sounds of Americana. This blend creates a rich, layered listening experience that is both familiar and fresh. The use of melodic guitar solos and harmonies adds depth to the track, making it more than just a simple love song. Instead, it becomes a journey through the landscape of human emotion, capturing both the euphoria of love and the inevitable challenges that come with it.

One of the most impressive aspects of “Every Now and Then” is how easily it transcends its genre. While it is firmly rooted in country and Americana traditions, its universal themes and polished production give it a broad appeal. Whether you are a die-hard country fan or someone who simply appreciates good music, this track has something to offer.

Tim Tye’s background as a lawyer lends an interesting dimension to his music. His attention to detail and precision in language are evident in his songwriting. In an industry where lyrics can often feel rushed or clichéd, Tye’s careful crafting of words stands out. His ability to tell a story, combined with his genuine passion for music, makes for a compelling listening experience.

The reception of “Last Hope for the Modern World,” which has already garnered over 135K streams on Spotify, indicates that there is a significant audience for Midnight Sky’s music. With “Every Now and Then,” Tye and his band are likely to build on this success. The song’s upbeat, danceable quality, combined with its emotional depth, makes it a perfect addition to any playlist.

In conclusion, “Every Now and Then” is a standout track from Midnight Sky’s already impressive discography. Tim Tye’s ability to blend traditional country with modern Americana, combined with his skillful songwriting and heartfelt performances, makes this single a must-listen. Whether you’re new to Midnight Sky or a long-time fan, this song is sure to resonate with you on multiple levels.

It’s a beautiful reminder of the power of music to capture the complexities of the human experience, and it firmly establishes Midnight Sky as a band to watch in the country and Americana music scene.

Matthew West Notches No. 1 With Awe-Inspiring Single “Don’t Stop Praying”

Five-time GRAMMY-nominated Christian artist and songwriter Matthew West notches his 13th No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart with “Don’t Stop Praying,”which rises to No. 2 on the Billboard Monitored AC chart and the Top 5 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart this week.

The achievement ties West with TobyMac for the most No. 1s among solo artists on the 2003-launched ranking. Penned by West and Jeff Pardo, the inspirational track marked the largest debut streaming week in the history of West’s monumental career upon release in January and is on track to be his most-streamed song to date.

“Just heard the news about ‘Don’t Stop Praying’ hitting No. 1, and I’m so blown away!” shared West. “Getting that call from my record label will never get old! I’m thankful for all of the radio stations sharing this song with their listeners around the world.

More important than any chart position, I have always aimed to put songs into the world that hit people’s hearts with a message they needed to hear, and the minute this song was written I felt in my heart that this was a message for our world right now. I hope we can all be reminded to pray for our nation right now. The Bible tells us that we have a God who hears us when we call out to him. So whatever it is you’re praying for, and no matter how long you’ve been praying, don’t stop!”

As the powerful track continues to unify fans and listeners, West, “one of Christian music’s most prolific singer-songwriters” (Billboard), teamed up with GRAMMY-nominated Latin Christian Band Miel San Marcos for “Sigue Orando (Don’t Stop Praying),” the Spanish version of “Don’t Stop Praying,” released last Friday (7/12). The duet intertwines both powerhouse artists’ vocal ranges, sung by West in English and Miel San Marcos in Spanish, further emphasizing the message that prayer is a universal language. LISTEN: “SIGUE ORANDO (DON’T STOP PRAYING)”

West sets his sights on the road for his headlining Don’t Stop Praying Tour in partnership with Awakening Events. Kicking off Oct. 30 in Pensacola, Fla., the tour will span across 17 cities nationwide this fall and winter. Already seeing sellouts, West prepares to take his music to fans across the country inspired by his Christian radio single “Don’t Stop Praying.”
