Steven Curtis Chapman Honored BMI ICON At The 2022 BMI Christian Awards

Last night, multi-GRAMMY Award-winning artist/songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman was honored for his prolific musical career as a BMI Icon Award recipient at the 2022 BMI Christian Awards. This is the first Christian BMI Icon Award honoree as Chapman joins the elite list of songwriters including Barry Manilow, Brian Wilson, Carole King, Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Sting, and others who have left an influence on generations of music makers and the music industry.

During the evening, country star and member of Lady A Hillary Scott and Christian country trio and labelmates CAIN paid musical tribute to Chapman. Scott brought her signature voice to “Who You Say We Are” and “Speechless” while Cain serenaded the crowd with “Great Adventure” and “I Will Be Here.” In true songwriter fashion, Chapman wrote an original song for his acceptance speech to conclude the special evening.

“As a guy who loves to use words to try to paint a picture of what’s deep in my heart, I’m at a loss for words deep and beautiful enough to express what I feel after being honored by friends, family, and the wonderful folks at BMI and receiving the BMI Icon award last night,” shares Steven Curtis Chapman. “I’m completely blown away by all of the kindness, love, and honor I was shown. What an epic evening to once again ‘taste and SEE how good the Lord is’ and to remember and celebrate all of the amazing people who have been part of my incredible, ongoing Great Adventure!”

He has been honored with 59 GMA Dove Awards, five GRAMMYs, and an American Music Award. Chapman also has 49 No. 1 radio singles, sold more than 11 million albums, and has ten RIAA-certified Gold or Platinum albums in his career.

He has collaborated with and had his songs recorded by other renowned artists in the Christian music world including BeBe Winans, CeCe Winans, Amy Grant, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Geoff Moore, and others. His songs of hope have also crossed genres, seeing collaborations with Billy Dean, Glenn Campbell, Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts, Ricky Skaggs, Brad Paisley, and Lauren Alaina. In 2017, Chapman also became a best-selling author with his memoir Between Heaven and the Real World: My Story.

Last month, it was announced that Chapman had penned a new deal with Provident Label Group as he released his new song, “Still,” which he debuted from the Opry stage that same night. He is currently working on music that will be released throughout this year including a new radio single next month.

“I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I’d have the opportunity 35 years later to once again pour out what’s in my heart onto ‘the page’ and into a recording like this newest project,” shares Steven Curtis Chapman. “These unprecedented times we have all been journeying through have stirred me deeply, and these songs and this record have come from that deep place…these songs are as honest as any I’ve ever written.”

Alabaster Grace’s “Heal Our Land” Resonates With Listeners Across America

Husband and wife duo Alabaster Grace’s latest single, “Heal Our Land,” has been resonating with listeners across the America since their recent performance of the song at the state of Virginia’s 56th annual Commonwealth Prayer Breakfast before an audience that included Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.

Brad Perry, a highly decorated former NASA rocket scientist, and his wife, Joanie Perry, a dedicated educator—together known professionally as Alabaster Grace—have committed their creativity, intellect, and passion to make music that is thoughtful, insightful, and reverent.

“Heal Our Land” checks each of those boxes and then some. The song, which released to Christian radio stations across the country from Westar Media Group, was penned by Joanie Perry, Alabaster Grace’s primary songwriter, with guitar arrangement by the group’s guitarist, Brad Perry. “Heal Our Land” was produced by multiple Dove Award-winning producer Chris Bevins (producer and keyboards for Selah, Salvador, Jaci Velasquez, Christine D’Clario).

Joanie Perry’s beautiful vocals are complemented by Brad Perry’s innovative lead guitar. The powerful production elevates the impassioned lyrics, and the studio version of the song features Joanie and Brad Perry backed by some of Nashville’s finest musicians, including drummer Dan Needham (Amy Grant, Jeremy Camp, Michael McDonald, Sting), guitarist Mike Payne (Casting Crowns, Francesca Battistelli, Mandisa, Lauren Daigle, Natalie Grant), and bassist Jacob Lowery (Gaither Vocal Band, Seth & Nirva).

Radio stations and listeners are responding to the song’s powerful message.

“’Heal Our Land’ is a timely message of the power of prayer as we seek the Lord for guidance to get through each day,” says Colleen Dick, General Manager, WWIP FM 89.1—The Word in Praise: Contemporary Christian Music.

Lynn White of radioforlife.org. says, “I love ‘Heal Our Land’ because, through the presentation, it reminds me that God loves me enough…to humble myself before Him and that my sins will be forgiven.”

Kathryn Livingston, Client Services Manager for Westar Media Group, echoes the sentiment, saying the song is “relevant and touching, and one that everyone can relate to. Alabaster Grace recorded a powerful song that will give you hope for the future.”

Alabaster Grace affirms the heart behind the song.

“‘Heal Our Land’ is based on 2 Chronicles 7:14,” says Joanie Perry. “This song is our prayer for our country, asking God to forgive our sins as we repent and turn back to Him. Just as in the time of Israel’s departure from God, the words of Hosea the prophet are ringing in our ears: ‘Come, let us return to the Lord; for He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.’ (Hosea 6:1, NKJV). It’s time for our country to return to God so He can heal our land!”

“We’ve heard this scripture many times, and probably memorized it. But this song is a positive reminder and motivator to put its words into action,” says Ted Hering, KVIP.

“Our hopes and prayers are that everyone hearing this song will be drawn close to Jesus,” says Brad Perry.

Patrick Dopson Hits Radio With Fresh New Single “There Is a Name” (Available for Pre-order) || @patrickdopson

Dallas, TX —   Some voices are so distinctive that they can describe and define the person or the brand.  That one-of-a-kind sound can only come from one person and can rarely be imitated.   Patrick Dopson has one of those defining voices that, once heard, you know, it’s anointed, refined and only his.

Patrick has delivered atmosphere-shifting worship and Gospel music that have rightfully landed on the top of the Billboard charts.  His “Make It Alright” single, featuring John P. Kee, peaked at #9 On Billboard Top Gospel Digital Song Sales Chart.  His “Keep Me” and “God Is” singles also took their place atop the BDS/Billboard Radio Chart and Mediabase Gospel Radio Chart.

Patrick is releasing an all-new single with a fresh groove and vibe to ignite the summer music playlist and your desire to be in the presence of the Lord.  “There Is A Name” is produced by Dopson and Grammy® Award-winning producer Kevin Camp.

“I am excited to have this new record going to radio,” says Dopson. “Although it’s a fun song musically and lyrically, I dove deep into making sure the message was solid and that the name of Jesus was the center focus.

“In 2015 Patrick overcame a life-altering diagnosis of kidney cancer. That experience propelled him into a more intimate relationship with Christ and a more profound desire to keep Him at the center of life.

“I have a chance to share my testimony in overcoming kidney cancer some years ago,” he shares.  “People need to remember their power in calling on His name.  I’m praying that this song causes faith to fill cars, living rooms, dorms, hospital rooms, and all of the above as we do our part to make His name great in the earth.”

“There Is A Name” also features musical contributions by the late Parris Bowens.  Parris was a young, undeniably gifted Philadelphia-based musician, producer, and songwriter with credits on projects by James Fortune, Tye Tribett, Musiq Soulchild, Bubba Sparxx, and many more.

There Is A Name is extra special to myself and Kevin because of the collaborative contribution of our brother Parris Bowens,” Dopson explains.  “Parris had a brilliant mind.  His musical gift still goes unmatched, but even more so, he was that once-in-a-lifetime friend that everyone needs in their circle.  His ideas were ingenious and innovative. He had the ear and voice of a prophet when he ministered. You knew heaven had touched his life by the way he expressed himself through music and thought. We hope to honor his wife Dionne, his sons Matty and Patrick, his extended family, and his legacy in this release.”

“There Is a Name” is available for pre-order on all digital music outlets and has begun playing on Gospel radio stations across the country.  The single will available everywhere July 1st.  Dopson’s new summer single can lift your spirit and be a constant reminder in good or bad times to keep your mind on Him and audibly call out the name above all names, Jesus.

GRAMMY Award-winning rock band Switchfoot announces the upcoming release of their deluxe edition of interrobang, due July 9. The original version debuted last year (Aug 20).

“Writing and recording this album during the chaotic uncertainty of 2020, was an experience unlike any that we’ve ever had as a band. To say that there was a lot to write about would be a laughable understatement. But hard times are often the most inspiring ones, and the making of interrobang was certainly a season of growth and creativity for us as a band, yielding a large collection of songs — too many for one album. Or maybe not. interrobang (deluxe) is our chance to include some of our favorite b-sides from the album, including a fresh one called “youth of the young” that you can stream anywhere and everywhere now! The deluxe edition also features a couple epic remixes from friends lovelytheband & Sir Sly. We’re so proud of these tunes, and we can’t wait for you to hear the whole thing July 9th!” -Switchfoot

The band defines interrobang as “a question mark, an exclamation mark, together.” The 12-track project harks back to Switchfoot’s classic rock motifs while underscoring a definitive departure from the band’s typical fanbase. With production assist from the legendary Tony Berg (Paul McCartney, Phoebe Bridgers, Kimbra), interrobang promises Switchfoot fans old and new a fresh, never-before-seen take on the modern rock mainstays.

Ultimately his hope is that the songs will draw people to Jesus.

Come Home is a song for those seeking a fresh encounter with God and a call for the prodigals to come home. Luke says ‘Psalm 55 and Matthew 11 describe a loving God who is kind, will never leave us and is willing to take on our burdens just like the Father does in the prodigal son story. He doesn’t turn him away, he calls for him to come home and desires to take care of his child’.

Katy Nichole Shares “God Is In This Story” Collab With Big Daddy Weave

Centricity Music artist Katy Nichole and Curb | Word Entertainment band Big Daddy Weave join together to release “God Is In This Story” today (June 10) to radio, digital and streaming outlets everywhere. The song is the new radio single for both artists and is being jointly promoted by Centricity Music and Curb | Word Entertainment.

The relationship between the two artists began when Nichole was invited by Big Daddy Weave to join them on select dates during the band’s spring 2022 tour, which was her first-ever series of tour dates. Shortly thereafter, she shared with Big Daddy Weave her song “God Is In This Story” that was co-written with Grammy® nominated songwriters Ethan Hulse and Jeff Pardo, and asked if the group would record it with her.

The release arrives at a poignant time for both artists, with Nichole’s testimony of physical and mental suffering and subsequent healing reaching 150+ million through the viral phenomenon of her first single and record-breaking multiformat Billboard No. 1 hit, “In Jesus Name (God of Possible),” and Big Daddy Weave’s mourning the passing of founding member Jay Weaver on January 2, 2022.

Big Daddy Weave lead singer Mike Weaver shares, “It’s been a really difficult season of saying goodbye to my brother and missing him, but also a time of realizing that there’s so much more for us to do. This is a song of hope, a song of encouragement, that God really is present with us in all of the seasons of our lives – the really great ones and the ones that are difficult. God is not giving up on us. He is in the details of our lives. We can trust Him that He is working things together for our good.”

“The one thing that we all have in common is that we all have a story to tell,” adds Nichole. “Looking back on my life, I always thought, ‘Oh, my story is too broken, and no one is going to want to hear about that.’ But what I didn’t know is that people were actually seeing Jesus through my story, because God was turning the broken things into beautiful things. So if you think that your story is too broken, I promise you that it’s not because God is in it.”

Katy Nichole, hit No. 1 for the first time recently with “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” on both Billboard’s Christian Airplay and AC Indicator charts. “Making history, the song reaches the Christian Airplay penthouse in its 12th week, completing the quickest jaunt to No. 1 for a female artist’s first entry in the chart’s 19-year history,” notes Billboard. The viral debut single also continues its sixth week atop the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart while topping the iTunes Christian & Gospel Songs chart for 12 consecutive weeks.
