[Music] Tripped Up – Noku Dlamini
‘Tripped Up’ is a song about who God is to us and what He says about us following Him, so we don’t trip up in life.
“My motivation for the song was to remind and encourage those who might be doubting who God is – to turn back and put their trust in Him because he is the maker of all things. Choosing the genre and style of the music was easy for me because I’m a Mzansi (South African) girl so rhythm is in my bones. House fused with Amapiano made sense to appeal to the lovers of the genre’s Christian
or not.” – Noku
About the artist:
Noku Dlamini is a Christian artist born in Welkom, South Africa. In 2002, a year after high school she left her family behind to be an au-pair in America to a family in Overland Park, Kansas. In 2004 she relocated to Houston, TX to pursue a better future for herself. This is where she began to study toward her bachelor’s degree in Technical Management and her music career.
Noku attributes her father’s constant requests for her to perform for the family when she was a child as the catalyst for her growing love of music. She loved the attention and the look her father would give her while she performs for the family.
Her songs are a combination of her Mzansi roots and her life in America. She believes that they are a depiction of who she is.
