Kenya based Costa Rican Gospel artiste, Sofi Mendez releases new single “My Strength”.

Sharing the inspiration behind the song, Sofi said she was going through a difficult time and as she was praying in her room and reading the word of God, lyrics started pouring out which became into a worship song. Little did she know, some months later this same song helped Sofi remember that God is our strength while she was lying in a hospital bed diagnosed with COVID and fighting for her life.

Sofi Mendez was born on 30th September 1995 in Costa Rica. She is a songwriter, worship leader and gospel minister currently based in Nairobi, Kenya since 2016. 

Sofi has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing. 

Her ministry is focused on using the arts, excellence and quality music to draw people from all around the world closer to God and have a relationship with him.

May this song be a reminder of how God can strengthen you in your current situation.

Grand Canyon University worship team – Canyon Worship – release new single, “Take Up My Cross,” available on all digital platforms on July 16.

“Take Up My Cross” is the first single released from their upcoming full-length album. Written by Amanda Riffe and produced by Geoff Hunker and David Willey, this inspirational pop song speaks to the call of Christians to take up their cross and follow after Jesus. It is an encouragement and reassurance that God leads His people in the perfect way, giving strength, wisdom, and provisions for the journey.

“The first line of the song, ‘Grace found me in the night / The curtains draw back and light comes rushing in,’ came to me during a break in one of my lecture classes at GCU,” Amanda says. “I started writing the lyrics during my class and could not wait to get to the next break so I could record it into my voice memos.”

Inspiration for “Take Up My Cross” is taken from Matthew 16:24-26 and Romans 12:1-2, highlighting how Christians become a new creation by the grace of God and are then called to deny themselves and follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Using a combination of electric guitar, keys, and drums, the upbeat, funky musical elements intentionally provide a lighthearted approach to this sometimes difficult message and aspect of the Christian life, reflected through the lyrics.

“I am so excited to introduce ‘Take Up My Cross’ to the world,” Amanda says. “I pray that people feel encouraged and empowered to trust God with their whole lives as a sacrifice of praise when listening to this song.”

“Take Up My Cross” will be included on Canyon Worship’s upcoming full-length album, releasing this September. Canyon Worship is an annual project at Grand Canyon University through which students record original songs in GCU’s Recording Studio alongside respected producers. Students release a full-length album in September and create content and perform live to support the album’s release.

Multiple award winner Jekalyn Carr took the stage last Friday at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, wowing the crowd with custom couture as she co-hosted the 36th Annual Stellar Awards for the first time.

Carr, who stunned the audience in five custom looks styled by celebrity stylist J.Bolin, is the youngest host in Stellar Awards history. She won two trophies, adding to her expanding collection, for Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year and Traditional Album of the Year for Changing Your Story.

The two Stellar Awards wins come on the heels of Carr’s recent induction into the Women’s Songwriters Hall of Fame and earning her fifth #1 Billboard single. The song “Jehovah Jireh” still tops the charts and is #1 on Billboard Gospel Airplay and #3 on Mediabase Gospel Chart.

With the debut of the title track from their forthcoming album, multi-GRAMMY nominated group Ernie Haase & Signature Sound “Keep On Keeping On.” In advance of the July 23 release via StowTown Records, fans can stream or download the first single HERE. The inspiration for “Keep On Keeping On” came to Haase, who wrote the song with Lee Black and Sue C. Smith over Zoom, during a dark, cold day in January. American Songwriter exclusively premiered the first listen to the encouraging track, which packs a “punch with glistening production and pounding percussion (Jason Scott).”

“I said, ‘Lord, how can I make a difference in these dark days?’ And it was as if He said to me, ‘Ernie, feed my sheep. You keep doing what you do. I’m not asking you to change who you are. You got one more breath. Take one more step, rise up and say, take that step and remind my people to keep on keepin’ on,’” Haase explained.

After nearly a year without new music or tour dates, the title led Ernie Haase & Signature Sound to return to the studio to record the full-length album. Keeping On is an offering of mostly original songs that were born in those days of testing and trusting. The 14-song album was recorded in Nashville, executive produced by Haase, and produced by Wayne Haun and Kris Crunk.

In support of Keeping On, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound are also spreading the album’s message of hope across the country on the Keeping On Tour. The 30-plus city tour kicked off in Memphis on June 19. Over the July 4 weekend, the group also spent four days entertaining fans at their sold-out, 9th annual EHSS Fan Retreat in Sugarcreek, Ohio. Lakewood Music, the music team at the Houston-based 50,000-member church pastored by Joel Osteen, makes its debut under a new multi-year distribution and publishing administration agreement with Re:Think/Capitol CMG (a Universal Music Group company). “In the Name” (featuring Kim Walker-Smith) is now available on all digital streaming platforms. A Spanish version of the single, “En Tu Nombre,” is also available. The first full-length album under the freshly minted deal, Whatever May Come, releases August 27, 2021.

Acclaimed worship artist and songwriter Phil Thompson drops his latest single, “Only Risen King,” with Integrity Music.

Budding Ghanaian gospel singer and worship leader Naphyl has registered her presence in the gospel music scene with her debut single dubbed  ‘ Nyame B3y3’.

The song is an inspiring piece that construes conviction in divinatory, that the Lord is our strong citadel in difficult moments. Nyame B3y3 literally means ‘’ God is in Control’’ as the singer processes a message of hope through her music.

According to Naphyl, this song is one of the many compelling pieces of music to empower  Christian music lovers.

Nyame B3y3 was produced by  Davejoy Studios. Naphyl born Phyllis Cobbina is a young Ghanaian Christian singer. She started music at a younger age at the church and holds true to her incomparable vocals.
