Founded in 1994 by Karen Gibson MBE (the Godmother of Gospel) The Kingdom Choir, renowned for their unforgettable performance at the 2018 Royal Wedding in front of a global televised audience of two billion people is back with a captivating new music single titled “Let It Rain.”
Written by Alex Hart, Karen Gibson, and Jonathan Owusu-Yianomah, and produced by Jonathan Owusu-Yianomah, this uplifting anthem is set to touch the hearts of listeners around the world.
Featuring the mesmerising vocal talents of Gemma Risden, Marsha Morrison, James Francis, Clinton Jordan, Elaine Simpson, Kemi Bramwell, and Jonathan Owusu-Yianomah himself, “Let It Rain” is a powerful testament to the resilience we all possess. The Kingdom Choir have captivated audiences worldwide with their exceptional talent and radiant energy. Their awe-inspiring performance at the Royal Wedding in May 2018 brought it international acclaim, establishing it as one of the most sought-after choirs of our time.
The continued love shown for The Kingdom Choir has truly elevated their status. They released their debut album, Stand By Me (Sony), that same year, entering the UK charts at #17 during a four-week run in the Top 40. The title track also hit #1 on the Billboard Gospel Songs Chart. Subsequent releases have included Real Love, which earned repeated BBC Radio 2 airplay; the Together Again festive EP, and last year’s Apple Music Home Session, which was released to commemorate Black History Month 2022.
The Kingdom Choir’s performances have remained in global demand ever since, with highlights including the Invictus Games, ITV’s Concert for Ukraine, Prince Albert II of Monaco’s 2021 gala, Expo 2020 and a headline show at the Hollywood Bowl.
They have been sought out as collaborators by artists such as Gladys Knight, Gregory Porter, Emelie Sandé and Madness, as well as for brand collaborations which have included Cartier, Ralph Lauren, Coca-Cola, Burberry, British Airways and Marks & Spencer. Enduring popularity on social media has seen collaborations with Kirk Franklin and Bishop TD Jakes.
The Kingdom Choir ended 2022 by performing as special guests at Trevor Nelson’s Soul Christmas extravaganza at the Royal Albert Hall alongside the likes of Corinne Bailey-Rae and Andrew Roachford. In March 2023, The Kingdom Choir embarked on a triumphant US Tour, performing 25 shows across 14 states, further solidifying their position as a global music phenomenon.
As the year unfolds, The Kingdom Choir eagerly anticipate their upcoming 30th anniversary performance, set to take place at a sold-out Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. The event promises to be a high energy celebration of their remarkable journey and musical achievements.
