Seven time Stellar Award-winning gospel icon, VaShawn Mitchell has just released the second single from his upcoming album, entitled, “Work Together”. This follows the first single “See the Goodness” featuring Donnie McClurkin that is currently growing on Billboard. Inspired by the famous scripture Romans 8:28, the song is an up-tempo groove that reminds listeners that “all things work together work together for my good.”
In his own words, Mitchell says, “This song is an important part of this project, Chapter X, because it is meant to encourage, inspire, and uplift the listener. After going through seasons of turmoil and the unknown over the past few years, it’s important to remember that regardless of what it looks like, all things work together for them that love The Lord!” He continues, “…and not only does it work together, the hook of the song says it’s working right now!”
“Work Together” is now available to be streamed on all digital streaming platforms.
Gospel legendary singer, VaShawn Mitchell hosted an incredible live recording at the Sound Board in Detroit Motor City Casino. Fans were lined up hours in advance full of anticipation of what was to come. The show was hosted by Detroit native actor, songwriter and social media influencer Jor’el Quinn with special performing guests including Donnie McClurkin, Jekalyn Carr, Lisa Page Brooks and Shana Wilson. Ron Poindexter directed the heavenly chorus of twelve singers and continued to raise the bar on his own solo feature. Other special guests in attendance include Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Bebe Winans, actor Darius McCrary, BET ‘Sunday Best’ alum Clifton Ross III, and Grammy-nominated producer J. Drew Sheard II.
Throughout the concert, audience members were enthralled in a trance of praise and worship, ballads, as well as praise breaks that had everyone on their feet. When speaking to concertgoers, people referred to the experience as “the best record so far” and “the best time I’ve had in a long time”. One person even claimed, “This record is going to take over the industry next year!” All in all, no one left disappointed. The concert also concluded with a call for salvation where individuals were lead to Christ.
When asked about the concert, Mitchell says, “Wow what an incredible night! I pray that lives were changed and the people were blessed by the ministry that took place today.” He continues, “as long as God gets the glory, I’m blessed to be the instrument he chose to use to touch someone’s heart in a way they’ve never felt God before.”
Mitchell’s new album, ‘Chapter X’ is set to release in early 2023 on all digital streaming platforms.
Seven-time Stellar Award winner and 2x Grammy-nominated recording artist, VaShawn Mitchell, will be conducting a live recording for his newest album, “Chapter X” at Sound Board at Motor City Casino Hotel on Monday, October 31 at 7pm. This album embarks on the journey of “newness” with a new sound and energy that his fans are going to love!
When asked about this new chapter, Mitchell says, “I’m excited to be in the creative space again to write, sing and produce music that will live in the hearts of listeners around the world. These songs will encourage, empower and uplift both now and for generations to come.”
“Newness”, as he defines, is “an overall recharge from the inside out”. He’s embarked on a new health and wellness plan, he’s exploring new fashion as well as a new sound in his music. “I want my fans to get ready for something completely different and unexpected from me.” After the death of his grandmother, Mitchell admits to falling into a deep depression. “She was my rock…my everything” he says. Now having grieved the loss of one of his greatest heroes, he knows his fans have missed him, and he is excited to launch this new chapter in the great City of Detroit!
Special guests include:
Donnie McClurkin – 3x Grammy Award winner, 2 BET Award Winner and Soul Train Award Winner
GRAMMY® Award nominated singer, songwriter, and producer, VaShawn Mitchell, has marked a new milestone in his career. He claims the top spot on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart for the week ending July 31, 2021, with the joyous, self-penned, “Lifted Up” (VMan Entertainment / Tyscot / Fair Trade Services).
Ironically, the song displaced last week’s No. 1 hit, “I’m Not Ashamed” by Monica Lisa Stevenson and Paul Porter, which was also written by Mitchell. “I’ve always prayed to God that He would allow me to write, produce, and sing songs that can live a long time and reach the heart and soul of the listeners, so I’m really humbled that both of these songs are resonating with the gospel audience,” he says.
Mitchell’s recent chart successes are just a couple reminders of his rich cache of compositions. Many of his fans, may not realize that he wrote the big radio smashes “One More Chance” for Ricky Dillard & New G and Bishop Larry Trotter’s “It’s Only A Test.” Aside from composing many of his own big hit recordings such as “He Got Up” and “Turning Around for Me,” he’s also written songs that have been recorded by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, The Rance Allen Group, Bill & Gloria Gaither, Smokie Norful, and Maverick City, among others. In the meantime, Mitchell is currently composing new music and plans to record a live concert album in the fall.
“Lifted Up” is Mitchell’s third No. 1 Billboard Gospel Airplay chart hit as a recording artist. He previously reached the top with “Nobody Greater” in 2010 and “Joy” in 2017.

American gospel artist Vashawn Mitchell offers sophomore single Wind Of God barely months after the success of his chart topping single “God Can Do Anything” off his forthcoming album.
“Wind Of God” is a sweeping ballad about the boundless reach of God. With words of strength and praise, Mitchell sings about God’s breakthroughs, and inexplicable miracles.
There’s something about the wind of God that changes everything, We have no need to fear or dread seasons of change when we know that the Wind of God is moving on our behalf and it will all work together for our good. I wrote this song to provide hope to the listener as they bravely face their daily lives.
Vashawn Mitchell
The Grammy Nominated artist has been building momentum to his eagerly awaited album “ELEMENTS”; A milestone in his endearing music career.
Indeed the Wind Of God changes everything, We definitely ain’t recovering from this soon.
The wind of God is blowing my way I don’t know where it’s coming from But it’s headed in my direction There’s something about the wind of God That changes everything
And it’s blowing my way Blowing my way
Oceans are lifted and mountains destroyed When the wind of God blows The enemy’s defeated and dry bones live When the wind of God blows All of my problems are carried away When the wind of God blows And everything will be ok When the wind of God blows
And it’s blowing my way Blowing my way
The wind is blowing I feel breakthrough The wind is blowing I feel miracles The wind is blowing Hallelujah
