Chart-topping BEC recording artist Tasha Layton recently marked another first in a year filled with milestones with her debut on the iconic Grand Ole Opry. Layton performed her breakthrough single, “Into The Sea (It’s Gonna Be OK),” and her #1 smash, “Look What You’ve Done,” before the welcoming Opry audience.
She joined CMA Award-winning country superstar Brett Eldredge; breakout hitmaker Lainey Wilson; and Grand Ole Opry members John Conlee and Riders In The Sky, among others, for the evening’s show.
Before leaving the stage, Layton shared with Opry announcer Charlie Mattos how special it was to appear on the Grand Ole Opry, in part because her grandmother had been such a big country music fan. To add to the evening’s significance, Layton’s guitarist, Matt Podesla, played the guitar originally owned by Layton’s grandmother, now one of the artist’s prized possessions.

Anchored by Layton’s #1 single “Look What You’ve Done” and her 2020 breakout hit “Into the Sea (It’s Gonna Be OK),” How Far showcases four newly recorded selections, including the debut single and title-cut set to impact radio April 29. A victorious anthem of assurance that God’s grace cannot be outrun, “How Far” proclaims: “A million miles of my mistakes still couldn’t keep Your love away/However far away I am from home/that’s how far Your love will go.”
“The whole album is summed up in the message of the title track, ‘How Far,’” Layton shares. “It’s about how God continues to reach out and pursue us even when we run from Him. It was God’s love for us that propelled Him to give His life on the cross. Arms stretched open wide—that’s how far He will go.” Layton co-wrote nine of the project’s 10 tracks, and How Far also features songwriting contributions from such names as Matthew West, We Are Messengers’ Darren Mulligan, Matt Hammitt, Aaron Shust, Ethan Hulse and Andrew Bergthold (We The Kingdom), among others.
Additional highlights of How Far include the shimmering synth-pop opener “Help Me Let Go”; “Catch My Breath,” a plea for respite amidst the stress of life; and a new rendition of the worship anthem “Joy Comes In The Morning,” which Layton originally recorded with Franklin, Tennessee’s Church of the City worship team.
“I didn’t shy away from any hard emotions with these songs, and I really tried to lean in and hear what God had to say about each of them,” Layton says of How Far. “My hope is that listeners feel a sense of freedom in this album, understanding that God meets us even in the darkest of hours. The album speaks to God’s intimate involvement in our lives, from the mundane to the biggest moments, throughout each and every season. God is in all of those things with us. He cares; He’s kind; and He’s working all things out for our good.”
Layton’s 2021 smash hit “Look What You’ve Done” reached the pinnacle of Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart and earned her recognition as one of the publication’s Top 5 female Christian artists of the year. She has been featured on ABC’s GMA3: What You Need To Know, discussing how past struggles have shaped her life and inspired her music; and Layton served as co-host of the 52nd GMA Dove Awards Pre-Telecast last year. Her six-song holiday EP This Is Christmas bowed in October and her guided prayer journal, “Boundless: Moving Freedom From Your Head To Your Heart,” also released last fall.

This Is Christmas, the first holiday offering from acclaimed BEC Recordings hitmaker Tasha Layton, is now available. Produced by Layton’s husband, GRAMMY and Dove Award winner Keith Everette Smith, the six-song EP features four original selections co-penned by Layton, as well as two Christmas classics.
Kicking off with a carefree cover of comedian Heywood Banks’ “Diddly Squat”—a big-band sendup on the watchful eye of Ol’ Saint Nick—This Is Christmas encompasses a range of seasonal sentiments, from lighthearted merriment to reverent moments of worship. Highlights of the EP include the title-cut, an anthem of praise celebrating the eternal impact of Christ’s humble birth in a Bethlehem stable; Layton’s soaring arrangement of the timeless favorite “O Holy Night”; and the poignant closing track, “Comfort and Joy,” a reminder of Christ’s promise of peace to a hurting world.
“I’ve wanted to do a Christmas record for so long,” Layton shares. “I love this season and I think there’s never been a time our world has needed to know the Hope of Christmas more than now. For so many, the holidays can be a difficult time, but it’s my prayer that through these songs listeners will be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas.”
“My husband is an incredible producer, and I personally think he pulls off Christmas music especially well,” she adds. “Keith and I loved working on this project together. The album is like a variety show, offering a little bit of everything stylistically. There are a few songs for churches to use during the holiday season, and some that are just plain fun!”
This Is Christmas is the latest in a string of milestones for Layton this year. Her current single, “Look What You’ve Done,” remains a Top 5 hit on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart; and she made her debut on ABC’s GMA3: What You Need To Know last week, discussing how past struggles have shaped her life and inspired her music. Layton also recently served as co-host of the 52nd GMA Dove Awards Pre-Telecast, presented by AWKNG TV. In addition to sharing hosting duties with acclaimed Gospel singer/songwriter DOE, Layton performed a stirring acoustic rendition of “Look What You’ve Done” during the ceremony.

“Look What You’ve Done,” the latest single from BEC Recordings’ powerhouse vocalist Tasha Layton, is officially one of summer’s biggest hits, landing at #8 on Billboard’s Christian AC Indicator chart this week. Penned by Layton, Matthew West, AJ Pruis and Keith Everette Smith, the track marks Layton’s second consecutive Top 10 single within a year.
“Hearing how ‘Look What You’ve Done’ has ministered to the hearts of listeners has been overwhelming,” Layton shares. “Although the song reflects my testimony, it has resonated as a testimony for so many others as well. For those who have experienced the transforming love of God, it is easy to point out where He has rescued, saved, healed and delivered. It’s an anthem of praise for what God has done and an encouraging proclamation of what He will continue to do. And it is because He proves Himself time and time again that we can trust Him with our hearts and lives. ‘All I can say is, hallelujah! Look what You’ve done!’”
One of Billboard’s Top 5 female Christian artists of 2020, Layton’s latest release—the three-song Look What You’ve Done EP—bowed last month. Along with the hit title-cut, the project also features “I Got You,” a carefree, windows-down pop anthem, as well as “Brave Heart (Dear Daughter),” a soaring ballad affirming God’s lovingkindness to his children in the face of adversity.

Landing in the Top 10 on both Billboard’s Christian AC Monitored and Christian Airplay charts, “Into The Sea” also appeared on multiple year-end charts and earned more than 10 million streams in 2020 alone.
