Songs From The Soil Release Single That Hints At Upcoming Album’s Essence

Songs From The Soil release the last single before their debut album, set to release on May 5th. The new song, ‘Thanks And Praise’, is an upbeat folky tune led by UK singer- songwriters and worship leaders Philippa Hanna and Lucy Grimble.

Inspired by Psalm 92 declaring that “it is good to praise the Lord” as well as a piece of Anglican liturgy reflecting this Scripture’s heart, the song gathers us in remembrance and worship of God’s faithfulness and worthiness.

‘Thanks And Praise’ balances both declaration and a reminder, encouraging the listener to take the focus off themselves and instead on the Lord.

The new single carries Songs From The Soil’s communal feel in worship as it captures the joyful ambience of the live recording, hinting at the essence of their upcoming album.

Songs From The Soil Release A Groovy Single About Surrender & Hope

Songs From The Soil introduce their third single, a groovy version of ‘You’re Still God’. Originally written by Philippa Hanna, the song is performed by London-based artists Junior Garr and Emmanuel Smith in a rendition that is as spacious as it is soulful.

‘You’re Still God’ was penned at a time when a string of deep challenges hit Philippa and her family; when stability seemed like a distant dream, she turned to worship as a means of survival and restoration. Since then, ‘You’re Still God’ has become an anthem joining people to declare God’s sovereignty, goodness and faithfulness.

Songs From The Soil encourage the Church with a vital message that we cannot let chaos steal our faith. Their new single gives language and melody to those currently grieving, struggling or just seeking to stand on God’s promises.

As a community of British worship artists and songwriters passionate to craft songs infused with the flavour of their local context, they affirm the heartbeat of unity at their core with a song that seeks to infuse hope in the world.

“You’re Still God” is available now.

Songs From The Soil Releases Debut Single

‘Fighting For My Heart’ is the debut single from Songs From The Soil, a growing community of UK worship artists and songwriters.

The new song, led by Philippa Hanna and Noel Robinson, was originally written by KXC’s Rich di Castiglione and LA-based songwriter Jordan Frye for those wrestling with issues of self-hatred and self-harm, although it has become an anthem of hope to many others too.

‘Fighting For My Heart’ is based on the closing verses in Romans 8, exhorting God’s people and celebrating how nothing can separate us from the love of God – not even our own brokenness. In the chorus, echoes of Psalms 139 and 23 highlight the liturgical thread running through ‘Fighting For My Heart’.

“We pray that this song can become an anthem of hope and a song of deliverance for all who have no hope left for themselves,” says Rich di Castiglione. ‘Fighting For My Heart’ introduces the stripped-back, communal, and deeply honest feel that captures what Songs From The Soil is all about.

“Fighting For My Heart” is available now.
