See Your Shadow Plays Bartender on Latest Single “Whatever on The Rocks”

See Your Shadow Song writing is a prominent production house that has been turning out international sales and airplay chart-toppers for the past 20 years.

Under the artistic direction of Michael Coleman aka “The Metropolitan Cowboy,” the musical conglomerate has racked up multiple iTunes #1 singles, while earning numerous industry awards, including a win at the recent Independent Music Network Awards.

Their last single, “Crazy Things Like That” enjoyed multiple weeks atop the National Radio Hits airplay charts. Now, See Your Shadow has released their latest single, “Whatever on the Rocks.”

‘Whatever on The Rocks’ represents a milestone for SYS, as it was one of the first songs that Michael Coleman and J. Richard Murray worked on together. Released on March 3rd, 2023, the song flips the script on the usual country drinkin’ love song.

Michael Coleman explains: “I was going through a really tough time when I wrote the song. I had gone through a break-up that left me with a broken heart for a number of years, so the original poem was told from my perspective as a bar patron drinking my troubles away. It gave real insight into a dark time in my life.”

He further added, “However, when we decided that the piece should be brought to life in a song, I changed the direction to tell the story not from my eyes, but through the eyes of the bartender and I don’t think that has ever been done before.

The song is very simple in its construction like the original poem, and I think it is that simplicity that makes the piece really intimate.”

After primarily being known for its dance club music, and its work in film and television, See Your Shadow Song writing rebranded itself and decided to switch its focus and sound to its first love, country and western. With a new stable of vocalists and musicians, See Your Shadow Song writing, has crafted and developed its new sound harkening back to the vivid storytelling and emotion of old-school country.

[Review] Crazy Things Like That – See Your Shadow

See Your Shadow pours his heart and soul into “Crazy Things Like That”. Wild goings-on takes hold of the narrative. There is a clear sense of playfulness throughout the entirety of the track. A sense of admiration can be seen as the verses expand upon the initial burst of energy.

Classic rock, country, and a hint of that 70s singer-songwriter gleam all effortlessly adorns the overall approach. Perhaps best of all is the way that the many layers interact to create this vivid explosion of color.
The rollicking rhythm proves to be undeniably catchy. Starting things off in style the piece has a rambunctious energy to it one that draws the listener in.

Lyrics simply further sell this sense of determination. Proving to have the utmost awe for those individuals who can find their own way, the song is a celebration of those who do things a little bit differently. Much of the experience has this gracefulness about it, the sort of thing that goes right for the very heart.

Word choice matters tremendously, as he incorporates a large amount of description into the entirety of the whole track.

Perhaps best of all the backing band does an exceptional job of keeping up with the vocals, ensuring that it feels like a fully realized, unified whole. “Crazy Things Like That” taps into a sheer force of nature for See Your Shadow celebrates the
small joys that life brings.

Take It To Your Grave (Single Review) – See Your Shadow

See Your Shadow features a rustic Americana with “Take It To Your Grave”. Verses here are chosen with care for the balance held within proves to be poignant. Everything about it has this sense of intimacy to it. With each verse the narrative comes into full view. His uncanny ability to capture a very true and real dilemma feels vivid. By going for a realness there is a careful cadence, one that absolutely stuns.

The rest of the arrangement helps to punctuate the power of his words.

Right from the beginning there is a rural charm to it. With the atmosphere evoking a full-on open sky country, the rest of the song gradually comes into place. Right in the very heart of the thing rests those lyrics though, things that feel acutely real. Drums here opt for a ramshackle quality as the tempos have a laid-back tenor to them. Balance proves to be of the essence as it all comes together in a way that feels highly personal. Over the course of the journey there is a delicacy to be found, between the sense of being honest versus being right. The desire to prevent harm, to help protect a family, proves to be more potent than anything else. For the finale it all sweeps up in one final grand gesture.

“Take It To Your Grave” delivers a truly exceptional work, for See Your Shadow has a deft storytelling ability to it.
