[Album] Psalmsongs – Melanie Waldman

Worship leader, singer/songwriter and speaker Melanie Waldman is slated to release Psalmsongs, her much-anticipated full-length debut, November 5. Produced by Waterdeep’s Lori Chaffer, the project is inspired by one of the Bible’s most beloved books and explores a range of themes reflected in the Psalms, including praise, thanksgiving, lament and petition.

Deeply emotive, ethereal melodies carrying lyrics rich in theology hallmark the nine-song set, with each track taking inspiration from a different Psalm. Psalmsongs was penned by Waldman along with co-writers Jesse Isley, Ross King, Erin Echevvaria and Adam Land, and the album features multiple guest turns, including singer/songwriters Alisa Turner and Jesse Isley, as well as Don and Lori Chaffer of acclaimed husband/wife duo Waterdeep. Various singles from the project have already been showcased on key playlists, including Spotify’s New Music Friday Christian and the Rabbit Room Discovery Playlist.

Highlights of Psalmsongs include the album opener “Awake (Psalm 24)”; the modern hymn “What A Savior (Psalm 65),” extolling the abundance of the Lord and His beauty displayed in creation; “You’re There (Psalm 139),” emphasizing God’s unconditional love; the gentle plea of “Come Back (Psalm 80),” inviting the Lord’s return and the restoration of His people; and “Show Me Mercy (Psalm 140),” an affirmation that His love and grace surrounds us in our daily battles.

“Last year, in the midst of the uncertainty and isolation we all faced, I began an in-depth study of Psalms and quickly realized the book is much like a hymnal,” Waldman shares. “Psalms express the emotion of the poet to and about God, and I was inspired to create new songs directly borne of this rich, poetic theology.”

“As believers, we praise the Lord in the good times with songs of thanksgiving, and we petition and cry out to God in our difficulties—all just as the Psalmists of ancient times did,” she adds. “I hope Pslamsongs can give new words of praise to those experiencing joy, and I also hope the songs of lament will bring listeners closer to His heart of comfort and peace.”

Melanie Waldman’s desire is to create songs and cultivate worship experiences that help restore hope by reminding people who they are, and that God is always at work in their lives. Haunted by a childhood of darkness, fear and abuse, and a young adulthood characterized by chaos and loss, Waldman’s life was changed forever in a miraculous personal encounter with Jesus. With a mission to encourage and inspire others to press on to the great fullness that awaits in Christ, her powerful testimony is the heartbeat of her ministry. Waldman and her husband, Scott, split their time between New Jersey and Nashville.

In January, she is set to unveil “Replacing The Lies,” an eight-week spiritual care mentorship program. The small-group study, which will be conducted online and hosted by Waldman, is focused around such topics as forgiveness, promises, gratitude, worship, boundaries, and replacing the lies we believe with Truth from the Word of God.

Melanie Waldman Bows Timely “Come Back (Psalm 80)” Ahead Of Full-Length Fall Set

“Come Back (Psalm 80),” the latest single from acclaimed singer/songwriter and worship leader Melanie Waldman, is now available. Penned by Waldman and produced by Waterdeep’s Lori Chaffer, the song is a gentle, yet urgent, plea inviting the Lord’s return and the restoration of His people. “Come Back” is the second single from Waldman’s forthcoming PSALMSONGS full-length set.

“In 2020, I started singing through the Psalms to draw close to God,” Waldman shares. “Without worry for genre, structure, rhyming, or any of the usual songwriter rules, I explored a wide-open canvas. With each Psalm I drew from an array of musical influences I have enjoyed throughout my life. It just so happens that I wrote ‘Come Back’ as I had been on a kick of listening to lo-fi beats, and this really comes through in Lori Chaffer’s production of the song.”

“In Psalm 80, the psalmist pleads for his nation, God’s chosen vine,” she explains. “He urges God to ‘come back and restore us.’ There are no coincidences, and I didn’t plan it. I didn’t choose this specific Psalm or write this song on behalf of our nation. Nonetheless, it’s clear to me that ‘Come Back’ is a plea for our world today. It’s as relevant today as it ever was. The song is a cry for our nations to return to the Lord, and for restoration at His hand.”

“Come Back (Psalm 80)” follows the album’s debut single, “Praise the Name,” which released in March. Waldman is also set to bow additional singles ahead of the nine-track PSALMSONGS release in October.

As a worship leader, speaker and songwriter, Melanie Waldman creates songs and cultivates worship experiences that help restore hope by reminding people who they are, and that God is always at work in their lives. Haunted by a childhood of darkness, fear and abuse, and a young adulthood of suppressed feelings, manipulation and lies, Waldman’s life was changed forever in a miraculous personal encounter with Jesus. With a mission to encourage and inspire others to press on to the great fullness that awaits in Christ, Waldman’s powerful testimony is the heartbeat of her ministry. She and her husband, Scott, split their time between New Jersey and Nashville.

Melanie Waldman Drops New Single “Praise The Name”

Melanie Waldman announces the release of her newest single, “Praise The Name,” written by Melanie Waldman and produced by Lori Chaffer. “Praise The Name” is the first single from her upcoming album, PSALMSONGS. For this project, Melanie feels called to partner with others to bring this music to life and has created a Kickstarter Campaign.

In 2020, Melanie wrote and released many songs to encourage and bless people, including “Heaven Coming Down” feat. Alisa Turner and “The Glory is the Lord’s” written with Michael Farren. PSALMSONGS will be different in that these scripture songs originated out of time Melanie spent with the Lord reciting the Psalms, finding strength, encouragement and peace.

The single, “Praise The Name,” based on Psalm 107,  is uniquely expressed with a mix of old and new sounds; unexpected and satisfying instrumentation.

Regarding “Praise The Name,” Melanie said, “This song reminds and draws us in to praise and worship God even in the darkest times. My hope is that listeners will be blessed with the desire and ability to recall the scripture song throughout their day, strengthening them as they listen and sing these truths to themselves. I am reminded of Zephaniah 3:17, that says, ‘For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.’”

As part of her Kickstarter campaign, Melanie will be going live daily on Facebook and Instagram to encourage people in their faith journey.

Melanie has partnered with graphic artist and animator, Sarah Yarbourgh, to create a lyric video to accompany “Praise The Name” to be released later in March. For every $2,500 raised over the $15,000 Kickstarter goal, Melanie has committed to creating additional videos.
