Blue Jay – Katy Weirich

The song “Blue Jay” is from her current EP, Out of the Blue, and the song carries a deep message of Weirich’s struggles with severe postpartum depression and anxiety. It was during the recovery of her medical issues, that she began to see blue jays at the times she needed them and it signified to her that it was a hug from God. A tangible reminder that He was right there beside her and He would not leave her.

“This song will forever hold so much depth and meaning for me,” said Weirich. “It’s almost like a musical time capsule because it re-lives some very vulnerable struggles I’ve faced in my life, but also the victory and healing I experienced through the power, love and grace of Jesus Christ. I’m praying for those same victories in the lives of each person who listens to this song, and I hope it serves as a forever reminder to all of us that we are never alone in whatever hardships come our way. He is with us through them all.”

[EP] Out Of The Blue – Katy Weirich

Singer, songwriter, and worship leader, Katy Weirich (pronounced y-rick), releases her debut project, Out of The Blue, today (June 17th). Weirich is joined by the multi-Grammy Award-winning Tedd T as producer for the EP, and the music is an inspiring celebration of God’s love that combines an autobiographical background of Weirch’s life stories. Out of The Blue showcases Weirich’s original six songs on the project, with the sixth song being a piano version of “More.”

“This project has been a labor of love and a long time coming, years to be exact,” said Weirich. “I consider the journey to be one of my life’s greatest blessings and the opportunity to release this music a dream fulfilled. My prayer for these songs is that they would minister to every heart who hears them, and that this record would serve as a testament to the greatness and faithfulness of God, especially in times of adversity.”

Even though Weirich has made great strides in her career, she has struggled with a devastating diagnosis of clinical anxiety and depression, starting at a young age. Eventually, Weirich overcame her health issues and began again focusing on her music career. However, after giving birth to her second child, she experienced a debilitating postpartum depression. It was a very tough period in Weirich’s life, but it led to an inspiration of writing the songs for Out of The Blue, which became a celebration of God’s continual faithfulness.

“Dealing with anxiety and depression has certainly resulted in some of the most dark and scary times of my life. I think back to some of those days of having panic attacks that literally had my body collapsing to the floor, and when getting through the next hour felt like climbing a mountain,” said Weirich. “However, in the darkness of these struggles I have witnessed the light and love of Jesus, which ‘put a new song in my mouth’ (Psalm 40:3). These songs have given me such purpose to all of the pain.”

[Music] Blue Jay – Katy Weirich

Christian singer-songwriter Katy Weirich showcases strength amidst struggle in her newest release, “Blue Jay.” Singing about her experience with severe postpartum depression and anxiety after her second child, Weirich recalls a feeling of utter hopelessness.

“I was nearly hospitalized and was having panic attacks causing me to collapse and I longed to go to sleep and not wake up,” she explains. The song recounts her hardship as she pleads to God for a “glimpse of you.” As expected, God delivered, and never in the way she expected. After a lengthy period of time during her recovery she began to see blue jays at just the right time in her day-to-day activities that would give her a glimpse of strength and encouragement to persevere.

When on a trip in Scotland after her recovery, Weirich remembers seeing an entire flock of blue jays, which finally inspired her to write this song. She says the blue jays signified to her “a hug from God and a tangible reminder that He saw me where I was and that I just had to keep going and to trust that He was right there beside me and would not leave.” As Weirich gains strength, the song builds momentum. “You are carrying me, sustaining me. You are healing me, I will be free” she sings with rising confidence throughout the rest of the song.

In this way, “Blue Jays” is an authentic representation of the struggles of life and keeping the faith amidst darkness. Weirich doesn’t sugar coat the pain, but she also doesn’t discount the miracle. She shares that when she got back from her trip, she flipped to the next page on her calendar which had a photo from the exact place in Scotland she had just visited. “It was a sign to me that God had gotten me through. He never left me, not even for a minute,” she adds. Weaving both the story of the blue jays and scripture into the song, Weirich explains that a lot of inspiration came from Job and wanting to “showcase the quality of God” which is “El Roi,” meaning “the God who sees me.” “Blue Jay” is one single to come out as part of her upcoming EP Out of the Blue set to release June 17. “This song will forever remind me how I was carried and sustained by the Lord. I honestly don’t know if I’d be alive today if I didn’t know Jesus Christ.”

Katy Weirich Pays Tribute To The Grandiose Nature Of God In New Single “Majestic One”

Christian singer-songwriter Katy Weirich delivers a passionate introduction to her upcoming debut EP with lead single, “Majestic One,” out January 14th. This cinematic masterpiece is brought to life by more than its all encompassing production; rather, Weirich’s unshakable faith shines through with a moving brilliance from start to finish.

She uses this project as a moment to create a place of exaltation that facilitates worship from a posture of awe and wonder. At its core, “Majestic One” seeks to uplift the name of God to His rightful place. Weirich’s honeyed vocals lead this track from stripped back verses to booming choruses resting atop cascading percussion. Listeners can expect to find themselves swept away in awe as this track blossoms into an epic reminder of who God truly is and who He is not based on the truth of His Word.

“Majestic One” is the first upbeat song in my entire catalogue thus far,” says Weirich, “and I’m excited for my listeners to experience it.” Serving as the introduction to her upcoming EP Out Of The Blue, this track is just a taste of what Weirich has to say.

The worship leader found inspiration for the tracks on the EP in her experience battling postpartum depression and anxiety; the final product is a celebration of God’s faithfulness that, while not always visible, is always constant. That same celebration is woven amongst Weirich’s lyrics in “Majestic One”; the chorus is purposeful in calling out and recounting the divine attributes of God that were also prophesied by Isaiah in the Bible.

Weirich bellows in the chorus, “wonderful, counselor, Mighty God, everlasting Father.” While these lyrics are famously quoted in Handel’s “Messiah” during Christmastime, “Majestic One” is a song for the church to sing throughout the year in an upbeat style that energizes and encourages the saints of God in their time of worship.

Listeners can stream “Majestic One” on all major streaming platforms on January 14th.
