[EP] Fearless – Jodi Essex

…what limits? Exuding the brave confidence it takes to defy all impossibility, Christian-Rock Artist Jodi Essex’s upcoming six-track EP, “Fearless,” is a call to build the Kingdom with the strength of a warrior. Having survived cancer at 25, Essex’s courageous perspective on life is powered by an innate sense of mission and belief all people have immeasurable worth. In the face of turbulence and adversity, especially when it comes to sharing the Gospel, “Fearless” is about learning to fear less, conquering fear with unshakable faith; “Fearless” lyrics implore listeners to be “steadfast in [their] fight” in the title track and music video out June 24, 2022, and the “Fearless” EP out July 8, 2022.

“We are encouragers called to serve,” Essex declares, “regardless of what that looks like in our respective lives. We must be bold and fearless in our leadership, proclaiming the unrelenting and powerful sway of our Almighty.” She goes on to ask, “When did Jesus shy away from doing what must be done?!?!”

Through an inspired collaboration with Artist/Producer Josiah Prince of Disciple, Jodi Essex’s EP was co-written at Prince’s renowned studio, “The Ranch,” in Nashville, TN. With a process Essex describes as having “an easy ebb and flow,” Prince has raised the bar with respect to her rock-infused sound; the EP also features creative collaborations with Mix Engineer Matthew Arcaini, Sam Moses of Moses Mastering, PR with The Marketing Mixtape and Endeavor for Content Creation. As Essex went into the studio for this music project, there was a desire for transparency to answer age-old questions about how to stave off fear. Woven throughout all six songs are themes of fearlessness from previously-released singles “Offend,” about speaking one’s beliefs boldly, to “Unravel,” peeling back layers of vulnerability in God’s presence. In addition to the title track, “Fearless” includes “Lean,” encouraging listeners to boundlessly lean into God during struggles while also resisting the chaotic flow of culture, “Bandaid” about embracing instantaneous tenacity and “Shine,” a reggae-rock track about exuding the inextinguishable light from within.

No matter what walls may exist in her listeners’ lives, “Fearless” was created to help them tear it down with the profound might of a living, breathing relationship with Jesus Christ. “In turn,” Essex offers, “the same can afford us the opportunity to build ourselves back up stronger and more fearless than we could ever imagine.”

[Music] Unravel – Jodi Essex

Very few things in life can shatter the defenses of a very strong will. In CCM Artist Jodi Essex’s upcoming rock ballad, music video out February 25, 2022, “Unravel” proclaims the Gospel power that comes from surrender. Vulnerable lyrics juxtapose the nature of being human with a call, and conscious decision, to follow Christ – “Sometimes I’m fighting, What you’ll make of me, Though deep inside, There’s no in between, torn at the seams.” Inspired by her own faith journey and bearing witness to the stories of those around her, “Unravel” reveals a vulnerable perspective for a generation met with the wondrous battle of personal and spiritual willpower.

“The process of ‘unraveling’ ourselves is a common struggle between what we’ll find as we dig into our deepest selves and putting down our sword,” Essex notes. “We, as humans rise and fall against the things promised to us and shown to us, while finding ourselves at a crossroads, both of a faithless heart and a loyal servant.” She goes on to share, with pure-hearted conviction, “The salvation in Jesus offers so much more than we could ever imagine.”

A song by Jodi Essex and Josiah Prince of Disciple, “Unravel” first came to be following a night of rest during a visit to Nashville, TN. More specifically, on a Monday morning at 7 a.m. CST, Jodi’s alarm went off as the chorus melody fluttered to her mind. Singing it aloud to be sure it was real and not imagined, just waking from a deep slumber, Essex recorded it in her voice memos app before it was finalized, with production by Prince; it was recorded at his studio in Music City called The Ranch. “Unravel” features soaring guitar riffs, full-bodied electronic elements and percussive swells, bringing listeners to their knees in prayer.

Essex’s music has been embraced by industry gatekeepers and listening audiences alike. Reflecting light in a more vulnerable way, “Unravel” continues Essex’s unapologetic proclamation of the Gospel. In her most recent single, “Offend,” she took the world by storm with a daring question: “Will you offend for the Gospel?”Her debut album released Summer 2020, “Irreverent” instantly resonated with it as featured tracks rose into top-20 ranking. Essex’s music was celebrated by outlets including NewReleaseToday, CCM Magazine, JesusFreakHideout, and Worship Leader Magazine who gave it rave reviews. In addition, Jodi’s debut album quickly racked up over 70k streams on Spotify, where its songs landed on several prominent playlists, including “New Music Friday Christian.” With the album release for “Irreverent,” Jodi took to the [cyber] stage with a livestream performance, proving her ability to bring the power of these messages to life in person.

Inviting God into the story will help listeners put life’s pieces back together; whether they feel unraveled in their faith journey or are simply having a bad day, Essex hopes listeners will find “healing and renewal along with answers to our deepest questions and desires.” Further, she wants this song to be an intimate conversation with Jesus and a prayer.

If you’re wondering what’s next for Jodi Essex, the future is bright with new songs as part of a 6-song EP met with singles, and a collaboration with fellow rocker Matt Moore. With a rocking live show, live touring will also be part of the picture.

Jodi Essex to Release New Single ‘Offend’ Sep 10

In an era marked by “followers” and wanting to be “liked” has come a time when Christ followers are unfollowing their faith. Acknowledging the fear of rejection and division may be a root cause for the reservations of thought leaders, Christian rock artist Jodi Essex is fed up with rising fear-based excuses. Bearing witness to public denouncements of faith and the watered-down messages of mainstream culture, Essex implores, “Would you offend for the Gospel?” Out September 10th, 2021 with a music video, “Offend” is ready to shatter the silence through what some may call “unpopular opinion.”

“When you have something to say,” Essex declares, “it should transcend your fear of speaking up.”

Written by Jodi Essex and Josiah Prince of Disciple, “Offend” is the first song in a series of songs to mark their new collaboration. Similar to her experience with Sean Hill (Jamie Grace, Clay Crosse, Landry Cantrell) for her 10-song debut album, Irreverent, Essex has described the process of writing with Josiah as amazing and positive, backed by “RADICALLY EPIC” songs that have emerged. Citing a vast array of musical influences like 80s and 90s rock legends like Def LeppardGuns N Roses and Sevendust, Jodi’s music is never too far from her roots. With a sound that could be compared to SkilletFireflight and Alice in Chains, “Offend” forges a new path for Jodi that is a cross between classic and hard-hitting modern rock.

By challenging listeners through “Offend,” Jodi hopes its message will ring loud and clear for both church leadership and congregants, alike. Upon listening, Jodi wants them to feel empowered, emboldened and PUMPED. In Jodi’s words, “I want them to feel energized and re-energized as they traverse their journeys.”
