[Music Video] Closer – Hulvey Ft. Torey D’Shaun

Reach Records artist Hulvey shares the official music video for his hard hitting yet refreshingly vulnerable new single, “Closer” featuring St. Louis native, Torey D’Shaun.

Looking back over the past year of Music, Christopher Hulvey, better known as Hulvey, reflects on his body of work saying, “I see how easy it is to talk about God and not really live it out.” He adds, “My desire is to learn how to lead a life of true surrender to God and live that life all the time.” At the same time, Hulvey acknowledges the grace and forgiveness we are extended by God saying, “God is still showing me that it’s okay to fail and learn.”

“Ultimately, My desire is that this song would remind people of the grace God offers us as well as inspire people to choose daily to be His disciple.” says Hulvey. “Closer,” produced by Carvello, Lasanna “Ace” Harris, and Joel McNeill, is available now.

[Music Video] Beautiful – Hulvey

Five months after a hand-written note teased the new music from Reach Records rising star Hulvey, the undeniably smooth and artistically refreshing new single “Beautiful” is here. The new single “Beautiful,” produced by Carvello and Lasanna “Ace” Harris, debuted with a stunning music video July 21st, with the audio releasing Friday July 22nd.

The single marks the follow up from Hulvey’s 2021 EP COMA. ” “I am excited for people to worship God with a song that isn’t conventional worship”, said Hulvey.

The Reach Records melodic wunderkind slides through the hills of Los Angeles, accompanied by a choir to score a beautiful depiction of a young man’s journey to find his place despite a lack of peace within his surroundings. In the music video for “Beautiful,” a truly cinematic art piece directed by Ade Adesina, the main character of the story overcomes spiritual hurdles as the video climaxes in a celebratory worship scene with Hulvey, the video’s star, and the accompanying choir. “This video is really a film, it has layers and very interwoven parts. I’m very excited to take the viewers on a journey. Me and Ade fought our hardest to make it incredible.

Hulvey also celebrated the release of the single with a pop-up restaurant experience at Willy’s, his hometown favorite restaurant in Brunswick, GA where he sold the limited edition “Hulvey Hot Porkchop” and previewed the single for fans while serving in the kitchen himself.

“Beautiful” is available now.

[Album] COMA – Hulvey

“Behold the morning light, The Son has arrived” are lyrics on the title track of HULVEY’s new album, COMA. The intro song tells the story of a man who has drifted out into the ocean, and falls into a deep sleep, a coma. He is literally in the midst of peril, darkness, and is jarred awake finding himself on the shore. Confused, he realizes he’s awake, but he doesn’t know how he got there. “That’s the story for most believers,” shares Hulvey. “Sometimes we fall asleep on our faith, drift away so far from God that when we eventually realize, we don’t know where we are or how we got there.”

Throughout COMA are similar analogies that Hulvey explains were written for, “any believer or person who feels like they’re asleep or who feels dead inside or feels far away from God or numb.” He describes COMA as “re-awakening, a moment of full self-awareness when you come to realize God is the one who can wake you up.” For Hulvey, so much of his reawakening happened in the middle of pandemic, “When everything shut down and quarantine started, I reawakened. I grew so much with God because I had quiet time. It was me, HIM, the isolation and different moments where I could focus on my relationship with Him because there was nothing else to do.”

I spent a lot of time unrooting a lot of things and the isolation drew me closer to HIM. God clearly laid out my mission and reminded me what this was all about. Hulvey shares that his mission is to create music that “helps people to truly come to know God! For people who do know God, he hopes COMA will awaken, encourage, and inspire. Christ has paved the way for us to be alive. We don’t have to struggle on our own. It’s through Christ that we’re made alive. I just want people to have that opportunity to come alive. COMA is about that reawakening and me reflecting on my walk with God. It’s also an invitation for others to do the same.

COMA is available now to download or stream.

Hulvey Releases Tell-All Documentary Ahead Of Debut Album

Brunswick, GA native Hulvey opens up to This Is Me TV in their latest documentary, Where Do I Belong?, which premiered this morning on YouTube. This 10-minute documentary is released in anticipation of the 22-year-old’s debut album Christopher that drops worldwide on April 9, 2021.

Shot in Brunswick, GA and Atlanta, GA, the doc goes behind the scenes and off and on the stage with the Reach Records’ artist. They share how he grew up like a lot of Christian kids – going to church, eating goldfish crackers, hanging out with his friends, but not really connecting deeply with God. After going on a mission trip and seeing the Holy Spirit at work, Hulvey decided to pursue God with all he had.  But he didn’t always go about it the right way…

In high school, it looked a lot like judging people, and sticking to a strict list of ‘What Not To Do.’ Hulvey found himself on the outside – never being invited to the parties, and seeing friends slowly drift away. But hip hop gave him a place to belong. After a few of his singles blew up in his local community, Hulvey ended up moving to Atlanta, bagging groceries at Publix while trying to get signed by Reach Records. Even if the record deal fell through, nothing was going to stop Hulvey from creating music from the Holy Spirit and finding satisfaction in God.

This is Christopher Hulvey’s story.
