Stellar Awards, “New Artist of the Year”, E. Dewey Smith continues to blaze new trails with two nominations at the 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards. He has been nominated for “Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year” with his chart-topping single, “Your Presence is a Gift” and “Traditional Gospel Album of the Year” for his debut album, “God Period”. 

Though widely known as an incredible preacher, his success in music shows that it is possible to be both an artist as well as preacher and there’s no slowing him down yet!

The 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards will be held live at Nashville’s Allen Arena on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. The show will be broadcast worldwide on TBN Friday, October 21, 2022 at 8pm and 10pm ET. This year’s chart-topping breakout soloist and Atlanta-based megachurch leader  Pastor E. Dewey Smith, will host a Family Skate Night on Sunday, June 5 at the Metro Fun Center in Atlanta, GA.

The skate night is presented by Pebble Street Records, the label Smith is signed to and released his hit single, “Your Presence is a Gift”, as well as The House of Hope Atlanta where he pastors. Family Skate Night is sure to be a family-friendly environment filled with great music, roller skating, food, fellowship, and live performances.

Megachurch pastor turned gospel solo artist scores his first chart-topping song with his debut single, ‘Your Presence is a Gift’!  Smith has garnered worldwide attention with the single being promoted as “one of the top worship ballads of the year”. 

When asked of the awesome feat, Smith says, “I’m so overwhelmed! For decades, I didn’t pursue music because my older mentors advised me to focus on preaching.”

He continues, “During the pandemic, I decided to record this song to honor my deceased mother and to encourage people who were dealing with grief and loss. I wanted people to know that that regardless of the feelings of absence that we can have, God’s ‘Presence is a Gift’!” The song’s writers include E. Dewey Smith, Andrea Fisher, Darius Paulk, Elvis Williams, John Webb Jr. Jules Bartholomew, and Natalie Sims and was promoted to radio by Tracey Artis of I Hear Music.

While Smith is not only at the top of the charts for this amazing single, he is also on the final ballot FIVE TIMES for the biggest night in gospel music: The Stellars. He is currently nominated for “Male Artist of the Year”, “New Artist of the Year”, Traditional Male Artist of the Year”, “Traditional Album of the Year” and “Special Event Album of the Year”.

Pebble Street Record Label head, E. Dewey Smith is setting the tone for 2022 by entering the TOP 10 Billboard Gospel Airplay Charts with his debut single, “Your Presence Is A Gift”. This is the first single from his debut EP, “God Period” that held the top spot on the 2021 Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart for multiple weeks. “God Period” also concluded the year finishing in Billboard’s ‘Top 50 Gospel Albums’ of 2021.

When asked about his inspiration for the single, “Your Presence Is a Gift” Dewey responded saying: “This song means so much to me because it’s a tribute to my mother who passed away a few years ago. Actually, my godmother, mother, best friend from college & sister all passed away within 28 days. After going through a major depression, I realized that I had been fixating over my deceased loved ones’ absence and not appreciating God’s presence.”

He went on to say, “Although we’ve all dealt with loss, it’s assuring to know that God’s presence is a gift.”

Atlanta-based record label, Pebble Street Records proudly signs a new artist to their roster, Pastor Michael Lampkin. Lampkin, both a talented pianist and vocalist is known for finishing as a Top 3 Finalist on Season 5 of BET’s Sunday Best. The prolific teacher and Atlanta-based Senior Pastor releases an amazing project that presents a diversity of genres and captures the multifaceted musical approach of Smith.    This project is focused on offering reverential adoration to God and showcases Smith’s deep, resonant vocals and establishes him as a bonafide contemporary Gospel artist.
