[Download] Being Good – Josh O’maiye

Gospel music minister and worship leader, Josh O’maiye has released his much anticipated single “Being Good”.

“Being Good” was written off the back of quite a difficult few months. I lost my mum in very sudden circumstances in December 2023, and we immediately had to prepare to lay her to rest. There were no saved funds for this purpose, and in terms of preparation for that sort of thing, there was very little. But soon things started to fall in place and my siblings and I pulled through remarkably. Basically, there was supply.

Soon I began to reflect on how things had turned out. I was clearly not excited about losing my mum, but soon my reflections began to pull the darkness away from my mind, and I began to count one, two, three things that God had done for me over the previous year. I started a new job, I started a very beneficial relationship that is leading to marriage, and financially, things got better.

It became my conclusion that despite my loss, there were other things that had worked out for me, and that God was still in the room, doing good, taking care of me, and helping me.

In the end, “Being Good” is a song that recognises that it’s been God all through. We do not always look like what we have been through, and that’s because God is still in the room, “Being Good” to us. This song is for everyone who has a testimony. It’s for everyone who looks back and sees God in the room. Through the storm, complexities and uncertainties of life. He’s been good to you. Hasn’t he?”, Josh said.

Josh O’maiye has been living the gospel music life since birth. Born to parents who were church ministers, he spent his free time during childhood listening to top legends such as Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker, and, John P.Kee. Finding the stage by age 7, Josh excelled as a performer and began to develop his craft as a gospel rock singer and a spirit-filled worship leader.

In the University, he was a member of the Nigerian Fellowship of Evangelical Students where he served as Music Director for over 2 years. Despite not entirely focusing his attention on music, Josh has maintained his commitment to God by churning out inspiring releases from time to time, including his most recent single “Goshen“ which featured Philipage and was released in 2023.

Josh currently serves a member of the choir at The Elevation Church, Maryland and is currently working on his debut album “The Good Album”, slated to be released later this year.

Today’s release, “Stand,” was penned by Wilson with frequent collaborators Matthew West, Jeff Pardo and Jonathan Smith. “Stand” finds Wilson steadily building vocal momentum with each verse, delivering a passionate call to stand firm on faith-filled truths. Staying true to the ‘REBEL’ spirit seen on her recent album, Wilson encourages the listener to dare to be different.

“These days, our world feels so divided. It can make us feel afraid to speak up about things that matter to us,” shared Wilson. “Writing my record, REBEL, fired me up to think about how I can live my life and my faith boldly, unafraid to stand up for what I believe in. ‘Stand’ is a song that came out of feeling all those feelings.

I want to stand up for love in a world filled with hate, stand for peace where there’s division, stand for my faith in God and stand for the freedom we get to enjoy in this great country. I want to stand proudly like a cross on a hill that stood for me and I hope you do too!”

Wilson’s momentum continues to build as she heads into the 55th annual GMA Dove Awards with four nominations, bringing her Dove total to eleven nominations and two wins in the last two years.

Taking place on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Allen Arena in Nashville, Tenn., Wilson is up for Artist of the Year for the first time, along with nods for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Strong,” Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for “Praying Woman” with Lainey Wilson and Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year for REBEL. The Awards will air exclusively on TBN and TBN+ and simulcast on SiriusXM The Message on Friday, October 4 at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET.

Wilson’s “upbeat banger” (GRAMMY.com) “Songs About Whiskey” from her sophomore album REBEL continues to be heard on Country airwaves, while “The Cross (with Chris Tomlin)” simultaneously spins at Christian radio.

[Music] Father To Son – Brian Doerksen

I started writing this song the month our first son was born in the early 90’s when I was 26. What I didn’t know as I began to sing these words was that Benjamin had Fragile X Syndrome and would require full time support for life. This song then became the opening song for the musical Father’s House. In the original script, a young man goes to the mall on a Saturday afternoon and gets handed a card by a curious old woman with his name on it.

When he opens the card, this song begins to play. This 30th anniversary version of the song remains true to the spirit of the original in its arrangement and features the same guitarist Brian Thiessen playing nylon guitar. It also features 2 cello parts weaving in and out representing the relationship between a father and son. These days my vocal range is a bit lower (so this version is 3 semitones lower), but it’s still all about the heart of a father singing over his son.

Our sons and daughters are our greatest treasures; and all of us are treasured by our Father in heaven. I hope this reimagined version of this song helps you receive that truth, no matter who your earthly father is. You are loved. -Doerksen
