“Fill My Cup,” a new single from The Rescued, a worship collective started by songwriter/musician James Jones, is set to release today to Christian AC-formatted radio outlets. Jones wrote “Fill My Cup,” with Kevin Clark serving as producer. The single is from the group’s eponymous EP.
“I love this song,” Jones says, adding that he wrote it at the same time as another song titled “Wellspring.” “We were in a season of needing to be filled — with grace, love, joy and the Holy Spirit,” Jones shares. The lyrics were “taken from verses like John 4:14 and Psalms 23:5, which reminds us that our cup overflows with His love for us.
“I also drew from how Jesus told the lady at the well in John 4:14, ‘Whoever drinks this water will never thirst again. They will have a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’ That’s what being a part of The Rescued movement is all about,” Jones says. “People knowing and accepting eternal salvation, not from things in this world, but through our risen savior Jesus!”
“My hope is that this song will bless all who hears it and it reminds them of the true meaning of life,” Jones says. “Each and every day through this world’s trials and tribulations, we have all we truly need in the overflowing well of Jesus’s love for us. In the midst of the hardest conditions, diseases, droughts, valleys and storms, Jesus is our refuge and we are all rescued by his blood.”
The Rescued’s first EP is the result of Jones gathering St. Louis area worship leaders and musicians to work together. Together, the team created an all-acoustic set of 25 original songs. The collective selected their seven favorites and created full band, radio versions that became the first, self-titled EP.
Because the team wanted to share its message with the surrounding community, The Rescued began playing at local churches and venues, including Church at the Bar, a local hot-spot for libations and worship. Church at the Bar was a good fit for The Rescued’s mission of reaching new Christians through music.
“Human nature leads us to want to be part of something that is bigger than ourselves,” Jones says.”Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, ‘Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.’
“The Rescued was not meant for us as musicians to have an outlet to write and play music. It was meant for the people of the community to be part of the experience of the salvation story,” he says. “At the end of the day, that’s the only thing that matters, to be rescued.”
Integrity Music is excited to share that “Jesus,” the new single from worship artist and songwriter Phil Thompson, releases today. Partnered with a music video, “Jesus” will be featured on Thompson’s sophomore album, Lion of Judah, slated to release this summer.
The message of “Jesus,” which was written by Thompson immediately after he penned the title track to his new LP, “Is too simple to even try to unpack. There is power in the name of Jesus. This name is above every other name. Undefeated and uncontested.”
He explains further, “After I finished writing ‘Lion of Judah,’ I just sat at my piano and sang it straight through from top to bottom three times. With tears in my eyes, I just worshipped and the worship got deeper and deeper. ‘Jesus’ came within a span of 15 minutes. It was birthed out of the residue of worship that ‘Lion of Judah’ created and it felt like a gift had been given to me because it came so effortlessly. That’s why it’s written in the same key and almost the exact same tempo. In my mind, these songs are sisters. There is something very solemn and peaceful about this song. It felt like a hymn to me.”
Ellie Holcomb singer/songwriter releases the official lyric video for “I Will Carry You,” which can be viewed below. The track was written by Ben Glover and Holcomb and will be featured on her upcoming release. Canyon, which is expected to drop June 25, is available now to pre-order and pre-save.
For Canyon, Holcomb teamed with with an incredibly talented team of co-writers such as Natalie Hemby, Bear Rinehart of NEEDTOBREATHE and Thad Cockrell, and the project was produced by Cason Cooley along with executive producer and her dad, Brown Bannister. The title-track was written by Holcomb, Thad Cockrell and Cason Cooley.
“I have seen Jesus meet me in the wounds in my own story that I tried to hide or bury, and I’ve experienced the kindness and empathy of God in my most painful places in a palpable way, so these songs are written from a new place of wholeness, healing and freedom,” explains Holcomb. “This is the first record I’ve ever made that makes me want to run or dance! I hope it makes people want to dance for the joy of knowing they are beloved.”
“It’s so much more simple than that…” highlights the new track’s lyric by Atlanta-based group Futures, “Simple” featuring Chloe Evans (DREAM Records). Produced by Mark Griffiths, the group’s new single reminds us that faith isn’t as complicated as people can make it. It strips down the complexities down to one simple message, Jesus. This is the fourth track in the group’s release schedule for 2021 marking a very busy year for the team. With more coming, this group is not slowing down. The team shares the message of their new track.
“The most important message we carry is the access we have to the undeserved, unconditional love of God! We always make it more complicated than He ever wanted it to be because no other transaction in the world is like His love. We try to be nice, we try to be good, we try and earn it but all He really wants is our heart. This matters more than anything else & we’ve written the song in a way that the message would be accessible to audiences that desperately need to hear this truth.” – Futures
