Just prior to Thanksgiving, chart-topping Christian rock band Benny DiChiara and Empowered performed a fan appreciation concert at St. Francisville, Louisiana’s historic Hemingbough. During that show, the band recorded their newest music video from the beloved Christmas carol, “We Three Kings.”
The festive holiday video was produced by Richy Long and Gary Governale of LA Post Group in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who previously produced the band’s chart-topping “Listen to the Children” and “Three Days” videos, as well as the lyric video for “We Three Kings.”
“We are so blessed to release our version of ‘We Three Kings’ for Christmas,” says DiChiara. “When talking to producer Mikey Howard, we discovered that this song was originally written around 1857, and we wanted to bring a little rock n’ roll energy to this timeless music.”
“We pray that the majesty of the birth of our Savior permeates the souls of those listening, fully embracing that Jesus was born for you and me,” DiChiara continues. “Merry Christmas!”
The radio single of “We Three Kings” has been generating praise and critical acclaim from fans and critics alike.
“I love the powerful new spin Empowered puts on ‘We Three Kings,’” says Dove Award nominee Mikey Howard (7eventh Time Down with Love Journey Music), who also produced the band’s Three Days album. “From the punchy drums and the rocking guitars to the cinematic strings, I feel every beat is pointing listeners to the wonders of Christ!”
“‘We Three Kings,’ with a beat!” exclaims Dan Gilliland, Owner, KHLL 100.9FM, West Monroe, LA. “Love the use of drums. It’s a great remake of a traditional song for the Christmas season.”
Brian Tucker, owner of Christian Mix 106, echoes their sentiments, stating, “‘We Three Kings’ is a timeless classic. Empowered turns the volume up on it and gives it a rockin’ new twist!”
DiChiara said the band wanted to point people to the wonder and majesty of Jesus Christ during this Christmas season, and that “We Three Kings” has enabled the band to showcase God’s strength during days of darkness and trials.
“There is an absolute power in that three kings left their dominions and kingdoms in search of a Savior Child who had more royalty than they did—an eternal royalty,” says DiChiara. “We hope that this song touches the souls of those who hear it, and that they draw closer to the King of Kings.”
The band’s current EP, Three Days, is their first release since DiChiara nearly lost his life to a traumatic brain injury. His journey of healing makes the band’s accomplishments of 2020 and 2021 all the more significant.
DiChiara has recently landed multiple high-profile media appearances, including CBN’s The 700 Club, Cornerstone Television Network’s flagship show, Hope Today, NRBTV’s award-winning TV show Babbie’s House, Inspiration.org, nationally syndicated radio show Bill Martinez Live! (airing in 300+ U.S. markets), popular Baton Rouge, Louisiana, lifestyle publication, 225 Magazine, and many more.
Two of the songs on the project—”Listen to the Children” and “Three Days”—have occupied multiple No. 1 positions on the IndieGospel.net charts, as has the music video of both songs. In total, the Three Days EP has now garnered seven No. 1’s on the IndieGospel.net charts over the past year, and has yielded over 250,000 streams on Spotify.
“We are so humbled by the support of IndieGospel’s staff and by the fans of our music,” says DiChiara.
Little Egypt Worship, a new worship ministry created by music industry veteran Jermaine Bollinger, has released its first single to digital platforms. “Revival,” written and produced by Bollinger, is available for streaming and purchase, with a radio single set for early 2022.
The new worship group — and the new single — are the result of a time of waiting in Bollinger’s life, he says.
“I had just stepped down from my job and concluded my previous ministry,” Bollinger explains. “Among personal issues and tragedies, things were at an all-time low me. To be honest, the circumstances navigated me to a pretty dark place. I became frustrated with my life, my situation, with God. I found myself asking, ‘What is all of this for?’”
Soon after, Bollinger was diagnosed with nodes on his vocal chords, a situation that meant he had to change his life and lifestyle to be able to continue singing.
“I was looking for a change, an awakening, a revival,” Bollinger shares.
It was during this season while trying to refocus that Bollinger wrote a song about change, change in his heart, in his life and, ultimately, change for the world.
“It seems like we’ve been spinning our wheels with this pandemic in particular,” Bollinger says, “History will remember this time in textbooks and on the internet. My only hope is that something beautiful can be birthed from this terrible situation the world finds itself in.”
“The question that will be asked by our descendants years from now is, ‘How did the church respond?’ I wanted to make sure,” Bollinger says, “I was used by God to do exactly what He wanted me to do, when He wanted me to do it.”

Grammy and Dove Award-winning recording artist and Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame member John Schlitt reunites with The Union of Sinners & Saints to deliver a heartfelt, tender, reimagined version of the classic Christmas song, “The Birthday of a King.”
The new single was produced by five-time Grammy-nominated and 26-time Dove-nominated recording artist/producer/songwriter Billy Smiley and features the talents of The Union of Sinners and Saints, which is comprised from the two best-selling Christian Rock bands of all time, Petra and Whiteheart, with over 15 million albums sold, 25 #1 songs, 15 Grammy and 40 Dove awards and nominations between them.
The lyrics contrast the humble little village of Bethlehem with the glory and greatness of Jesus Christ, who was born there. The refrain focuses on the wonderful appearance of the host of angels, and how that was a fitting celebration for the birthday of a King.
Although penned as a hymn in the late 1800s by American composers William Harold Neidlinger and Francis Fischer Powers, the song gained widespread popularity when it was recorded by Judy Garland in 1941.
“When Billy Smiley found this song from the past, I was very intrigued,” says Schlitt, whose lead vocals inject a gentle rock n’ roll vibe into the traditional hymn. “When I realized it was Judy Garland who was singing it, I was totally thrilled. It’s a beautiful song for a beautiful season.”
“John’s vocals are unbelievable on this classic rendition of a Christmas favorite,” says Smiley. “We wanted to fit a classic into what we do as a group, and we had a great time doing this Christmas version! We hope people really connect with it.”
Fans can stream the single on multiple platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Tidal, Amazon Music, Pandora and others, or purchase the song from iTunes, or Amazon.com. Click here for a complete list of streaming and purchasing outlets, or click here to listen now.
John Schlitt, who has been called the greatest rock ‘n’ roll singer in Christian music history, is no stranger to Christmas music. The iconic vocalist delivered a full-length Christmas project in 2014, appropriately titled, The Christmas Project.
Schlitt launches The Christmas Project with what is arguably the greatest Christmas song of all time, “The Hallelujah Chorus.” While Handel’s masterpiece has been interpreted by a multitude of musicians over the past 250 years, no one sings “hallelujah” like Schlitt. “The Hallelujah Chorus” transitions seamlessly into a guitar-driven, barn-burning version of “Do You Hear What I Hear.” “Little Drummer Boy” gives Schlitt the freedom to explore his full range of vocal prowess, starting at a muted whisper before embracing his full-throttle, wailing rock roots while holding fast to the traditional melodies of the beloved carol.
Schlitt reins in his potent vocals for a gentle, reverent interpretation of “O Holy Night,” then ratchets up the intensity on “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” a rock-inflected fist-pumper that is guaranteed to get the listeners’ blood flowing. The versatile vocalist shifts moods to one of pure fun with the funky Irish reel “Good Christian Men Rejoice,” then slides comfortably into the mellow, bluesy “That Spirit of Christmas,” made popular by the legendary Ray Charles.
Melancholy keys and strings embellish Schlitt’s emotion-laden vocals on the traditionally arranged “We Three Kings.” The gently rocking “What Christmas Needs to Be” leads into the project’s closing tune, the reflective “What Child Is This.” “What Child Is This” provides the perfect foil for Schlitt’s signature vocal stylings, allowing him to channel his passionate delivery through a filter of awe at the enormity of this central event in history. The icing on the Christmas confection is an original tune, “What Christmas Needs to Be,” which is destined to become a seasonal classic.
