Genre-bending acoustic quartet Act of Congress releases “Welcome To The Heart of God”
Co-written by Act of Congress members and Michael Farren (Reba McEntire, Walker Hayes, Lauren Daigle) and produced and mixed by Thomas Dulin (Drew and Ellie Holcomb), “Welcome To The Heart of God” is the first in a cascade of new original singles coming from Act of Congress this year. The single shares the gospel’s open invitation to everyone in the world.
“Much of Jesus’ ministry recorded in scripture takes place around a shared meal, at a table,” muses Act of Congress members Connie Skellie (violin, vocals), Adam Wright(mandolin, vocals), Chris Griffin (guitars) and Tim Carroll (bass) collectively while referencing Luke 14:15-23, Matthew 11:28-30, Mark 2:13-17 and other scriptures. “He was constantly being chastised by the religious elite for sharing meals with ‘sinners.’ It seems like showing mercy to those who felt like they didn’t belong was a core tenet of the ministry of Jesus, a pillar of ‘the kingdom of God.’”

“Through the years, the gospel has rung true, especially during those aha moments – through parenting kids with their failures and triumphs and through my own despair and joyful highs,” shares Skellie whose sons were born with an incurable eye disease. “I now realize there’s never been a time when Christ wasn’t pursuing me.”
“I think about the simplicity of a hymn like ‘Amazing Grace,’ and hope that this song communicates those same truths,” adds Wright. “We have to see our need, that we’ve not measured up, that we’re the wretch in the story, and that we must find help. But we also have to see how God has met that need beautifully and perfectly in the gospel, in the sending of his perfect Son, Jesus, who has laid down his own life for those who acknowledge they can’t save themselves.”
“God is a safe place, and he loves us,” confirms Griffin, who knew the song was special after looking up and seeing the rest of the band with tears in their eyes during the writing session for the song.
“It was a very emotional moment for me as the lyrics were being crafted about how I am accepted regardless,” reflects Carroll, awed by the realization that the same gift is true for everyone. “It’s such a great message that I need to hear every day.”
The new single follows the Act of Congress release The Hymns That Made Us, a full-length album that reimagines timeless classics, inviting listeners to worship with thanksgiving, confession, prayer, lament and praise.
Homage recently launched their debut single, introducing their love for bringing generations together through timeless songs that tell the story of God in our day and time.
They release their second single, “open the eyes of my heart.” Their take on this classic from Paul Baloche is a smooth tune with soulful accents. “In the early days of playing drums this song was the ‘good morning church’ number and after a dozen play throughs, the itch to get creative with the song became undeniable,” Homage said.
Their reimagined version breathes new life into this powerful song, introducing a younger generation to this worship classic.

Cameroonian gospel singer TelDebbie has just released her debut single titled “What The Lord Has Said.”
TelDebbie was born on 8th June 1972 to Mr and Mrs Mbunya. She was named Telelen, meaning (a child without a name). At age 29, she was renamed Deborah.
As a child, it was not uncommon to catch TelDebbie climbing on cupboards or chairs, holding an object as a microphone, singing at the top of her voice. This act was seen as worldliness to her strict born again parents, thus earning her some beatings.
Among her peers, she was often tagged as mami *forming forming because she sang songs that were not considered as real songs since no one knew them. At age 9, her siblings laughed at a song she formed such that she decided not to sing those unreal songs that came to o her mind. Little did she know that was a gift and a talent. She stopped forming songs but continued through secondary education, remixing other people’s songs so as to give that feeling she held inside of her. She was a member of an all girls group in high school where performed on and off campus.
Being an educationist, TelDebbie would turn challenging topics, concepts, or formulas into a song. This earned her the title success story maker as every child she taught made it big. Children with learning disabilities found learning fun with her. She has written many school songs, anthems as well as gospels. It is in the recording of one of the school songs that the studio guy Mbotake Christian challenged her to do a gospel single. She immediately bought the idea as if to say TELELEN DEBORAH WHAT THE LORD HAS SAID CONCERNING YOUR LIFE SO SHALL IT BE AMEN.

Jeremy Parsons, a San Antonio native raised amidst the vibrant sounds of Texas dancehalls, brings a heartfelt and introspective lens to his latest single, “The Garden.” Drawing from a profound personal narrative, Parsons masterfully uses gardening as a metaphor for mental health and personal growth, creating a song that is both touching and thought-provoking.
Parsons’ upbringing with his father, Dr. Jerry Parsons, a horticulturist in Texas, serves as the primary inspiration for this track. Memories of working in the garden as a child, juxtaposed with the initial reluctance and eventual understanding of its deeper significance, are poignantly reflected in the lyrics. This personal connection adds a layer of authenticity and intimacy to the song, making it resonate deeply with listeners who may have similar experiences or who appreciate the symbolism of nurturing a garden as akin to cultivating one’s mental and emotional well-being.
From the opening lines, Parsons invites us into a world where the state of one’s garden mirrors their internal state. “Yeah tell me what’s growing there in your garden / Does it wither when you’re feeling blue,” he sings, setting the tone for a reflective journey. The garden, in this context, becomes a powerful symbol for the soul, with its flourishing or withering directly tied to one’s emotional health. This metaphor is delicately and beautifully woven throughout the song, encouraging listeners to consider how their own mental health might be reflected in the world around them.

Musically, “The Garden” is grounded in the rich tradition of Texas country music but carries a modern, almost folk-inspired sensibility. The melody is soothing and contemplative, providing the perfect backdrop for Parsons’ reflective lyrics. His vocals are warm and inviting, carrying a sense of sincerity that is hard to ignore. The instrumentation, while simple, is elegant, with gentle guitar strums and subtle harmonies that enhance the song’s introspective mood.
The chorus, with its hopeful yearning, stands out as a key moment in the song: “Yeah I see from where I am that your garden is thriving / And I hope that means you are too.” It’s a poignant reminder that external appearances can sometimes mask internal struggles, but also an expression of hope that one’s outer world reflects a thriving inner life. This duality of observation and hope gives the song a deeper emotional resonance.
One of the most striking aspects of “The Garden” is its relatability. Parsons’ musings about his neighbor, Brielle, and her dedication to her garden serve as a catalyst for broader reflections on human behavior and resilience. “I see you looking for the sun / I feel you counting on the rain,” he sings, capturing the universal human experience of seeking light and nourishment even in challenging times. These lines are particularly moving, as they convey a sense of solidarity and understanding that is both comforting and uplifting.
The bridge of the song shifts slightly in tone, emphasizing the virtues of patience and perseverance: “It’s virtuous to say the least / You try and fail and try again / Yeah I hope that you know this it never went unnoticed / ‘Cuz hard work always pays off in the end / Yeah well patience always pays off in the end.” This message of resilience and the acknowledgment of effort reinforces the song’s overarching theme of growth and self-care.
Jeremy Parsons’ ability to blend personal anecdotes with universal themes is what makes “The Garden” a standout track. His genuine personality, combined with his unique humor and heartfelt love for his craft, shines through in every note and lyric. The song not only showcases his talent as a songwriter but also his ability to connect with his audience on a deeply emotional level.
In conclusion, “The Garden” is a beautifully crafted song that speaks to the heart. Jeremy Parsons invites us to reflect on our own lives, encouraging us to nurture our mental health with the same care and attention we would give to a garden. It’s a touching reminder of the interconnectedness of our inner and outer worlds, and a testament to the power of music to inspire self-awareness and growth. This single is sure to resonate with many and solidify Parsons’ reputation as a thoughtful and talented artist in the contemporary music scene.
