Embarking on a journey through time-honored melodies, Anchor Hymns introduces their new single, “Where Else Can I Go,” a modern echo to an old hymn. This track aligns with the band’s unique approach of blending ancient hymns with contemporary relevance, capturing the continual quest for hope.
At a time when uncertainties cloud the horizon, the artists share their personal awakening in the song’s lyrics. “Time after time, we have come up short,” the band confesses, leading to the realization that only at “the foot of the cross of Jesus,” can one find true refuge. The heartfelt question posed in their lyrics, “My Lord, where else can we go?” speaks to the soul’s deep yearning for something greater.
With their new release, Anchor Hymns aspires to imprint this significant message within the hearts of worshipers. Written for ease of singing and joy in playing, the song is an invitation to carry the query “My Lord, where else can I go?” into everyday life, nudging the faithful toward reflection and a steadfast gaze upon God.
The song resonates with profound historical undertones, having been recorded in an old mansion that bears the weight of America’s past as the headquarters for the Confederate Army during the Battle of Nashville. “Bringing these songs of hope and freedom to a place with such a history of darkness” was a powerful experience for the artists, enriching the single’s release with layers of depth and meaning.

On a rainy day this past December we got the chance to visit a historic home in Kankakee, IL. As it turns out, this home was the first home ever designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Within the confines of these beautifully worn and weathered halls we got out our instruments, and pressed record. New seasons are coming soon, and we can’t wait to continue to walk this journey with you. We pray this song speaks to your soul.
Chicago, IL — Composer and international artist Calvin Bridges is one of Gospel music’s living legends. He is a Stellar Award-winning, and Grammy® nominated artist who has penned numerous hit songs and has traveled the globe, presenting his dynamic music ministry and teaching classic and iconic sacred songs.
Once again, Calvin has gathered the children to sing the Gospel Glory, proclaiming the Good News about Jesus with the profound message and new single “No Weapon.”
“No Weapon” is a celebration of hope and joy, permeating indisputable decrees and powerful images of deliverance and victory! The single proclaims, “No weapon formed against us shall prosper. Every tongue that rises against us in judgment shall be condemned.” (Isaiah 54:17)
Calvin recorded the single live in Chicago at the historic Malcolm X College Auditorium with an aggregation of USA and European singers who joined to form the International Gospel Music Conference Mass Choir with special guests from Stockholm, Sweden. The recording captured the atmosphere of elation and the skillful artistry of the participating gifted musicians and singers, all crafted, written, and produced by Calvin Bridges.
“No Weapon” is swingin’ with contemporary jazz nuances and pumping with old-school power and swag while riding on a funky music track. With a masterful lead and soulful choir vocals, the song becomes a praise party.
Bridges says, “In a day where automatic assault weapons are used to kill and destroy in record numbers, taking way too many innocent lives, violent crime is rampant in our cities, government, boardrooms, schools, and houses of worship. Words are also weaponized to shame, degrade, and assassinate the moral character and dreams of generations past, present, and future. No weapon can prosper is a Kingdom statement and battle cry that is especially needed now.”
“No Weapon” is available on all digital music and streaming platforms with spots on Apple Music Sunday Soul Slider Playlist, Pandora’s New Gospel Now #7 Playlist, and Tidal’s Premier Gospel and Spread The Gospel Playlists. You can watch and share the marvelously innovative official lyric video on Calvin’s YouTube channel.
Calvin is a 2023 Prayze Factor Award winner who, additionally, is nominated for six 2024 Rhythm of Gospel Awards this year. Calvin continues to travel the globe with upcoming 2024 appearances in Nairobi, Kenya, at the Mziki Gospel Music Festival in July, Stockholm, Sweden, and Kehl, Germany, in the fall.
