Dan Bremnes Debuts Deeply Personal New Song “Call Your Name”

Curb Records artist Dan Bremnes seeks God in his darkest hour on his brand new song, “Call Your Name”.

“This is a song that has been waiting to be written for 18 years. It’s been growing inside of me along with my own story and struggle,” Bremnes candidly shares. “I had no idea it would take the loss of my mom, my faith and a dream to lay the foundation for these words.”

callyourname

“Call Your Name” — one of the most personal offerings of his career — details a life marked by moments of prayer and petition from the first time Bremnes started talking to God at age five to the desperate pleas of a son, who lost his mother in a tragic car accident in his early 20s.

Approaching our Creator with an almost childlike faith, the singer-songwriter delivers raw emotion across a vocal that builds to a poignant cry, relatable to anyone who’s ever called out to Jesus at rock bottom. The Canada native wrote the autobiographical original with Benji Cowart and Jordan Mohilowski, who also produced the recording.

Opening the new year with new music, Bremnes preceded “Call Your Name” with atmospheric pop track “Started With You.” Both selections provide an initial glimpse into his follow-up to 2022’s critically acclaimed Into the Wild.

[Music] Oh To Be Like You – Anchor Hymns

Oh To Be Like You” is the third single coming from Anchor Hymns’s live recording at Covenant Presbyterian in Nashville, TN.

The new song is a mellow worship ballad led by Paul Baloche and Dee Wilson. This song came organically as Baloche recalled simply worshipping along co-writers, Travis Ryan and Wilson, and melodies flowed quickly.

Several scriptures pointed them to the theme of “being like Christ.” Inspired by this yearning, they penned “Oh To Be Like You” with the melody and chords evoking a longing – a soul cry – to be made into His likeness. “Our hope as songwriters is that this song would give fresh vocabulary to the listener and singer – whether in a congregation or alone in your home or car,” said Baloche.

“Songs can help us express emotions and truths to God.” “Oh To Be Like You” is both intimate and communal as the recording captured the congregation’s voices. Baloche concluded that, “This song serves as a prayer to remind me of my purpose for living.”
