Kim Walker-Smith Releases “MAMA”

Renowned worship leader Kim Walker-Smith releases an anthem for mothers everywhere titled, “Mama.” The song will be on the forthcoming full album, Trample, releasing on June 7th.

“I homeschool my kids and most of the work I do is within churches so I’m not attending school board or PTA meetings, but I’m not oblivious to the war that has been declared on our children,” explains Kim Walker-Smith. “As a mother of three young children, I cannot let my guard down for one second. This stirs a righteous anger in me. I want to use my talents to help in this battle.

While praying and talking to God about it, I felt God drop this song in my heart. The words and melody just came to me. I got with some other songwriting parents who helped me finish this song.”

Co-written by Walker-Smith, Jessie Early, Hank Bentley, and Mia Fields, Kim Walker-Smith hopes this song becomes a war cry and fight song for mamas everywhere.

She adds, “I hope it encourages mamas everywhere, emboldens them, and fuels their fire in fighting for their children and to be bold in parenting.”

With more than 20 years of worship leadership, Kim Walker-Smith is known for her spirit-led worship anthems. Earlier this year, she released her first new song (“Boxes”) in more than three years to much acclaim as part of her new June release, which features 12 new songs. She will be touring internationally this summer with a nearly sold-out South Africa tour followed by a headlining tour in the US this fall.

Blessing Offor Releases “Somebody’s Child” With Dolly Parton

Building upon the success of two GRAMMY® nominations and coming off the first leg of a national tour with Lauren Daigle, two-time DOVE Award winner Blessing Offor has released a brand-new track today, “Somebody’s Child,” featuring a collaboration with global music icon Dolly Parton. Blessing’s poignant vocal and masterful piano playing introduces “Somebody’s Child,” before Dolly joins in along with a vocal choir to bring it all home.

Written by Blessing, Josh Ronen, and Joy Williams, “Somebody’s Child” is a contemplation on compassion and humanity.

“We’re all ‘somebody’s child,’ Blessing explains. “It’s such a simple concept, but I hope it’s the beginning of us all realizing that there’s always a point of empathy, there’s always common ground if we want to find it. And there’s no better embodiment of finding common ground, finding relatability, than Dolly Parton. I’m so honored and humbled to have her on this project.”

“I know it’s too easy to say it was a blessing singing with Blessing,” Dolly says, “but it was. I love the song ‘Somebody’s Child’ and I am very proud to be a part of it.”

The music video begins with Blessing at the piano in a backlit room, showcasing not only his talent, but the evocation of emotion through his fingers as they hit the keys. At the end of the first verse, Dolly places her hand on Blessing’s shoulder before giving her impassioned vocal.

With interpolated images of children and parents in real-world situations, this song gives an important reminder about humanity in our society, and that every day spent with the ones you love is a treasured gift.

Blessing is currently on the road, and will join Lauren Daigle on more dates later this year.
