The Gray Havens To Release First Original Music In Two Years

The Gray Havens are thrilled to announce the release of their new single “Anywhere” on March 1st, 2024. This highly anticipated kick-off to their new album cycle marks their first original release in over two years.

Distinguished for their ethereal melodies and poetic lyricism, their unique blend of storytelling has captured the hearts and imaginations of listeners around the world since 2013.

The Gray Havens’ David Radford shares “This is the most personal song I’ve ever written, and perhaps the song I’m most proud to have recorded. It’s a song with a twist. The lyrics start out centering on my struggles with heartbreak/chronic pain/suffering/loss and the desire to escape it all (take me anywhere but here) but then realizing maybe the best place I could be is right where I am by the end of the song (don’t take me anywhere but here).

It has some Peter Pan illusions woven in throughout – we almost called it “Neverland. I hope it finds where it needs to go.”

“Anywhere” was mixed by Grammy-winning Tucker Martine (known for his work with The National, Sufjan Stevens, Madison Cunningham, Gregory Isakov and The Decemberists)

Natalie Grant Addresses Tennessee House Of Representatives On Behalf Of Recording Academy & Human Artistry Campaign In Support Of ELVIS Act

This morning, Curb Records recording artist and Recording Academy Nashville Chapter Governor Natalie Grant addressed the Tennessee House of Representatives on behalf of the Recording Academy and Human Artistry Campaign in support of the ELVIS Act.

The ELVIS Act is the first bill in the nation with a focus on safeguarding the core elements of artistic identity: voices and likenesses from harmful and unethical AI-generated deepfakes that are becoming more prevalent.

Supporting the ELVIS Act, Grant addressed the Tennessee House of Representatives, stating the bill is important to faith-based artists such as herself. Without it, Grant explained that her voice could be used to say something in opposition to her beliefs, values, and the message she has spread for the last 25 years.

“It was a privilege to speak about the ELVIS Act,” shares Grant. “Today was a big step forward in protecting songwriters and creators, ensuring that every individual has the right to control their unique God-given qualities.”

Shonda English Offers “There Wouldn’t Be a Me” Single From Her Album Travelin’

Psalmist Shonda English is one of the outstanding virtuoso voices touching the Gospel music industry and making an indelible impression on all who hear her. She released her debut album, THINK ON THESE THINGS, in 2009.  Since then, she has experienced life’s trials and triumphs and has put her testimony and talents into a new body of work that is profound and perfectly presented in God’s timing.

Her latest album is TRAVELIN’, featuring collaborations with Gospel legends Lemmie Battles on “While Traveling Through” and Dorothy Norwood on “Fly Away.”  TRAVELIN’ will take you on a phenomenal musical journey with iconic musicians contributing to the project.  Organist Richard Gibbs plays on “While Traveling Through” and “Freedom Highway.”  Legendary guitarist Jonathan Dubose strums on “Let’s Journey Together,” while Bishop Neal Roberson adds soulful harmonica to the track.

Over the last few years, Shonda released seven singles leading up to TRAVELIN’.   She added eight new songs to make this prolific 15-track project.  In a follow-up to her “Step Right In,” Shonda has released a new single from the album, “There Wouldn’t Be A Me,” which is her testimony and encouragement to listeners.

Shonda shares, “Have you ever been at your lowest point, and it seemed God wasn’t there? God wasn’t watching or hearing you, nor answering your prayers?  Then, at the darkest hour, when you had nothing to hold on to but the little bit of faith you had left, out of nowhere, the Mighty Deliverer appears with a breakthrough to shatter all shackles of bondage and hopelessness.  The truth is, He was there all the time.  This song speaks of such experiences.”

To further encourage the listener in “There Wouldn’t Be A Me,” she pens the lyrics to uplifting melodies and catchy rhythms, a style she created to make the listener feel encouraged and happier as the song progresses. The vamp is simplified to encourage everyone to sing along while asking themselves, “where would I be?”

Stream & Enjoy

In honor of her father, the late Bishop W. T. English, Shonda shares their unique bond with a special spoken word piece on the album, “Daddy’s Girl.”

Shonda’s TRAVELIN’ album has garnered her six 2024 Rhythm of Gospel Award nominations for Contemporary CD of the Year, Special Event CD of the Year, Traditional CD of the Year,  CD of The Year, Contemporary Song of the Year (Step Right In) and Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year.  The ROG Awards will be handed out June 19-23 in Mobile, AL.
