Blanca To Perform At FFTP’s We Are One With Goal To Deliver 10 Million Meals

Contemporary Christian singer Blanca will give a special performance for Food For The Poor’s fifth annual National Celebration – We Are One, a virtual event with a goal to deliver 10 million meals to hungry children and families in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The event will be livestreamed from FFTP’s Coconut Creek headquarters at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15.

Every dollar you give until midnight ET, August 31, will be matched with one dollar’s worth of food, up to $500,000, making donors’ gifts go further.

In a recent interview with FFTP, Blanca said music has the power to bring people together and that she hopes her performance will inspire others to join FFTP in the fight to alleviate poverty and hunger and to support families in need.

“In putting this event together, I think of my own life. I grew up in a broken home with my dad addicted to drugs, and my mom basically raising us as a single mother,” Blanca said.

“It wasn’t easy, but the grace of God and the tiny miracles, like church communities bringing groceries to our doorstep or friends inviting me to Bible study, shaped who I am today,” she continued. “These acts of generosity are the foundation of my faith and connect me deeply to the mission of Food For The Poor.”

For FFTP’s We Are One, Blanca will perform three songs, including “Goodness of God,” in Spanish, “Something Better,” and “New Day.”

Blanca Elaine Callahan, known professionally as Blanca, began her career as a member of the Christian hip-hop group Group 1 Crew, where she gained recognition for her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence.

In 2013, Blanca embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut self-titled album in 2015. Her music blends contemporary Christian, pop, and Latin influences, often addressing themes of faith, hope, and personal growth.

“In this season, I’ve been challenging myself to look beyond my own anxieties and to focus on how I can help those in need,” Blanca said. “If we all adopted this mentality, the work we could do for the kingdom of God would be tremendous. This is why partnering with Food For The Poor is so important to me – it’s about expanding our hearts for things that matter to God.”

Latin America and the Caribbean face ongoing challenges with food insecurity, exacerbated by economic instability, natural disasters, and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the World Food Programme, millions of people in the region suffer from hunger, with children being particularly vulnerable to malnutrition and its devastating effects on their health and development.

“Food insecurity remains a significant challenge in Latin America and the Caribbean, where millions of families struggle to access sufficient nutritious food,” FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine said.

“We are incredibly grateful to Blanca for lending her voice and talent to this event,” Raine added. “Her dedication to spreading hope and faith aligns perfectly with our mission, and her performance will undoubtedly be a highlight of the evening.”

Music Review: Bill Abernathy’s “Save Your Drama for Your Momma”

Bill Abernathy’s newest single, “Save Your Drama for Your Momma,” which has secured a spot at #34 on the UK iTunes Top Rock Songs chart, strikes a resonant chord with its audience through a blend of caustic social commentary and rock-infused melodies. The song is a potent mix of pointed political critique and compelling musicianship, making it a standout in the current rock scene.

From the get-go, Abernathy pulls no punches in his scathing critique of contemporary politics. The chorus, which acts as the song’s anchor, is both catchy and biting:

Save your drama for your momma

You all should be ashamed

Save your drama for your momma

Stop shrugging off the blame

This refrain not only sticks in the listener’s mind but also encapsulates the song’s overarching theme: a profound disillusionment with political games and empty rhetoric. Abernathy’s lyrics navigate the murky waters of political discontent, highlighting issues such as inflation, market instability, and environmentally destructive policies.

In Verse 1, Abernathy paints a vivid picture of the disconnect between political leaders and the realities faced by the general populace. Lines like:

Inflations just another

Transitory phase

and

Drowning in their policies

Cause they don’t “get” the math

resonate deeply in today’s socio-economic landscape, reflecting a widespread sentiment of frustration and skepticism towards those in power.

The Chorus repeats after each verse, reinforcing the critical tone and allowing the listener to reflect on the powerful statements made in the verses.

Musically, “Save Your Drama for Your Momma” is a well-crafted rock anthem. The song features Abernathy on acoustic guitars and vocals, with Kevin Rogers on electric guitars, Craig Kew on bass and fretless bass, Alex Cordero on keyboards and strings, and Larry Gann on drums and percussion. The synergy among these musicians is palpable, creating a sound that is both cohesive and dynamic.

Bill Abernathy’s “Save Your Drama for Your Momma”

Stream & Enjoy

The song’s arrangement is meticulously crafted. The acoustic guitar provides a steady foundation, while the electric guitar adds layers of intensity and depth. The bass lines are robust, grounding the composition, while the keyboard and string sections bring a touch of sophistication. The drums and percussion drive the rhythm forward, ensuring that the song maintains a strong momentum throughout.

The production quality of the track, managed by Larry Gann, who also served as one of the producers alongside Abernathy, is top-notch. Recorded at AweStruck Studios, the track boasts a polished yet authentic feel, striking a balance between raw rock energy and smooth production values. Larry Gann’s expertise in engineering and mastering shines through, as each instrument is clearly defined, and Abernathy’s vocals are front and center without overshadowing the intricate instrumental work.

One of the song’s standout elements is its Bridge:

Listen what they really say

Delusional and crazy

Claiming they can save the world

By spending all your money

This section encapsulates the essence of Abernathy’s message, delivering it with a punchy rhythm and an almost anthemic quality. The bridge also includes one of the most memorable lines:

That the next Pandemic in the USA is

Diarrhea of the mouth

This lyric perfectly captures the frustration many feel towards the incessant political rhetoric that seems to dominate the media landscape.

Bill Abernathy’s “Save Your Drama for Your Momma” is more than just a song; it’s a statement. Its place on the UK iTunes Top Rock Songs chart is well-deserved, as it combines thought-provoking lyrics with masterful musical execution. Abernathy’s ability to articulate a sense of widespread discontent while maintaining a catchy, rock-driven sound demonstrates his prowess as both a songwriter and a musician.

Whether you’re drawn to its political critique or its infectious rock rhythm, “Save Your Drama for Your Momma” is a track that demands attention and invites repeated listens. It’s a testament to the power of music as a medium for social commentary and a reminder of the enduring relevance of rock music in voicing the concerns of the times.

Music Review: Luanne Hunt’s New Single, “Ghosts of a Simpler Time”

In a world consistently propelled forward by rapid technological advancements and ceaseless commotion, Luanne Hunt’s latest single, “Ghosts of a Simpler Time,” serves as a melodious sanctuary from the modern-day hustle. Released on July 30, 2024, this poignant ballad encapsulates a wistful yearning for the halcyon days of yesteryear, making it an essential listen for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the relentless pace of contemporary life.

Music Review: Luanne Hunt’s New Single, “Ghosts of a Simpler Time”

Stream & Enjoy

Luanne Hunt, a country folk virtuoso with multiple awards under her belt, is renowned for her emotive storytelling and compelling vocal prowess. “Ghosts of a Simpler Time” underscores these qualities, providing listeners with a heartfelt anthem that pays homage to simpler pleasures and cherished memories. The song is a beautiful tribute to lost moments, evoking images of backyard barbecues, fireworks, little league games, and the nostalgic warmth of summer nights.

### Lyrics That Strike a Chord

The song opens with evocative imagery:

“`

Backyard barbecues and fireworks

Pride for the Stars and Stripes

Forty-fives and faded jeans

Little league and apple pie

“`

This opening verse sets the stage for a journey back in time, capturing quintessential American experiences that many hold dear. Hunt’s lyrics are masterfully crafted, painting vivid pictures that instantly transport the listener to a time when life seemed less complicated.

The chorus, a powerful anchor of the song, underscores the central theme of nostalgia:

“`

Where is our America

And the golden days we’ve left behind

They came and went way too fast

I get lost in the past

Chasing ghosts of a simpler time

“`

Hunt taps into a collective sentiment, offering a reflective escape from the distractions and disarray of present-day existence. The evocative nature of these lines resonates deeply, urging listeners to take a step back and ponder the simplicity and tranquility of days gone by.

### Musical Composition

“Ghosts of a Simpler Time” is a musical gem, blending traditional country folk elements with a modern sensibility. Hunt’s emotive vocals are front and center, conveying a sense of earnest longing that is both profound and relatable. The instrumentation, characterized by gentle acoustic guitar strums and subtle string accompaniments, perfectly complements the song’s reflective tone. This delicate arrangement allows Hunt’s voice and the poignant lyrics to shine, creating a harmonious balance that enhances the overall listening experience.

### A Sentimental Escape

The second verse continues to draw the listener into a world of sentimental recollections:

“`

Catchin’ fireflies beneath the stars

Fallin’ in love on summer nights

Library books and radios

American dreams shinin’ bright

“`

These lines evoke a sense of innocence and wonder, recalling moments that many people treasure from their own pasts. Hunt’s ability to articulate such personal yet universally relatable experiences is a testament to her skill as a songwriter and storyteller.

The bridge of the song introduces a more contemplative tone, acknowledging the challenges of the present:

“`

Lately there’s a shadow, growing across the land

And there’s bound to be a price to pay

These changes we don’t understand

Tell me how we bear the weight

“`

This introspective moment adds depth to the song, recognizing the complexities of modern life and the emotional toll they can take. Yet, it circles back to the chorus, reinforcing the longing for simpler times and the comfort of familiar memories.

### Conclusion

As “Ghosts of a Simpler Time” reaches its conclusion, listeners are left with a sense of bittersweet reflection. Hunt’s ability to capture the essence of nostalgia and convey it through her music is both moving and impactful. This single not only showcases her vocal and lyrical talents but also serves as a poignant reminder of the beauty in simplicity and the power of memory.

The inclusion of “Ghosts of a Simpler Time” on the Independent Music Network’s “Summer Hits” program this August speaks volumes about its potential to resonate with a wide audience. Following her critically acclaimed 2024 album, “Miles & Memories,” which featured the international chart-topping hit “The Vice,” this new single further solidifies Hunt’s place as a significant voice in the country folk genre.

In an era where the pace of life often feels overwhelming, “Ghosts of a Simpler Time” offers a much-needed respite. It’s an invitation to reminisce, to cherish the past, and to find solace in the memories that have shaped our lives. Matthew West Releases “Chosen” & Announces Upcoming Release Of Next Album

Five-time GRAMMY-nominated Christian artist and songwriter Matthew West announces his 13th studio album, Don’t Stop Praying, due Friday, Oct. 4. Giving fans a sneak peek into the highly-anticipated project, West releases “Chosen,” available everywhere today, accompanied by an all-new lyric video capturing the powerful message the new track shares. Come October, the album will arrive in full with 12 inspiring tracks, including “Chosen,” and his No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart, “Don’t Stop Praying.” A co-writer on all songs, West’s forthcoming project is dedicated to the theme of commitment to prayer in 2024.

“I’ve been waiting for the right time to announce what I’ve been working on and the day has finally come,” shared West. “I’m excited about this new record because each song is a story I’ve wanted to tell the world. Everything I write is inspired by what I’m experiencing in my story and what I’m seeing happen in the world around me. And while each song is different in its message, I feel like this album carries one central heartbeat: the message of a God who sees us, knows us, chooses us, loves us, and hears us when we pray. The song “Chosen,” speaks powerfully to me because I often forget that I’m worthy of being known by the creator of the universe. I had a feeling somebody out there needed that reminder too. October 4th can’t get here fast enough!”

Today’s release shines a light on the relatable insecurities we all face every day – from feeling abandoned, unworthy or like you don’t belong, West’s compelling vocals and poignant lyrics remind listeners of the constant truth: you are specially chosen by God for exactly who you are. Written by West, hailed by Billboard as “one of Christian music’s most prolific singer-songwriters” along with Jeff Pardo, the song reassures listeners of their purpose and God’s unwavering love. “You have been chosen, seen, known and loved every moment,” he proclaims. AOH Music To Release “Same God (Of David’s Heart)” August 2

AOH Music (vocalist Brianne Nealon, drummer Jimmy Meier, and guitarist/producer Jack Garno) reminds us that our God is the same God He’s always been, and always will be, with their new single “Same God (Of David’s Heart),” releasing Friday, August 2nd.

The song was primarily inspired by Hebrews 13:8, “What Jesus Christ was yesterday, and is today, and forever.” From the Old Testament to the New, the Lord throughout time is the same God who delivers us from our spiritual Egypt, offering us eternal life.

“It’s easy to forget that we are in communion with the same God that turned water into wine, that parted the sea for the Israelites, that sent His only Son to become man and die so that we may have eternal life in Heaven” says the band. “This song was written as a reminder of God’s faithfulness in our lives, and we hope it can be a reminder for all of those who listen to it”.

This song has garnished a lot of social media attention since the band originally posted a rough version of the chorus a few months ago. There have been over 1.5 million views, thousands of likes, and hundreds of comments asking for a full version. We are so excited for this song to reach even more people and hopefully draw them even closer into a relationship with the ever-living God.

The band will be going out on the road in the fall, playing faith-based concerts and events across the nation.
