Chart-climbing recording artist Sarah Reeves recently made her feature film debut in God’s Here, a powerful family drama about faith, forgiveness, and new beginnings. Known for her soulful voice and powerful lyrics, Reeves also composed the film’s soundtrack.

This week, she received two award nominations from the 2025 International Christian Film & Music Festival (ICFF) for her role in the 2024 drama – one for Best Supporting Actress and the other for Best Musical Score.

Inspired by a true story, God’s Here follows Jack Gilmore (Billy McAdams, Jr.), a decorated firefighter and man of deep faith whose wife (Reeves) and son are killed in a texting-and-driving crash three weeks before Christmas.

In the wake of his loss, Jack is charged with a DUI and required to complete community service, during which he meets a young girl with whom he shares a conflicted and painful past. Meanwhile, as Detective Kent Powers (Hercules legend Kevin Sorbo) investigates the fatal accident, he uncovers a shocking revelation that personally ties him to the case.

“This film carries a strong message of hope and unity. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity and personal trials, life can still hold moments of beauty and magic,” said Reeves. “I’m so blessed to have been part of this wonderful film and I’m grateful to the ICFF for this recognition.”

The soundtrack features five songs, including two originals written by Reeves specifically for the film. Her music enhances the movie’s emotional depth, offering listeners a heartfelt journey of faith and healing. Highlights include:

• “Plans” – Inspired by Jeremiah 29:11, this track serves as a reminder that God has a plan for each of us, even in the midst of life’s darkest moments.
• “Amazing Grace” – A tender and soulful rendition of the beloved hymn.
• “Gentle Man” – A hopeful ballad about finding love unexpectedly, inspired by Reeves’ real-life relationship with McAdams, which began on the set of God’s Here.
• “Christmas Feels Different This year” – A poignant track reminding listeners that, even in the face of adversity and personal trials, the holiday season can still hold moments of beauty.

The awards will be presented at the ICFF in Orlando, April 30-May 3.

God’s Here premiered on Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Granbury, Texas – the small, historic town just west of Dallas-Fort Worth that served as the movie’s backdrop. It is currently streaming on multiple digital platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, DirecTV, Fandango, YouTube, Google TV, and DISH, among others.

Reeves’ nominations come as she’s experiencing a genuine career surge as a recording artist and songwriter. Late last year, her inspirational song “More Than Enough” — aimed at uplifting those bouncing back from toxic relationships — hit iHeart Radio’s adult contemporary song chart and shared the Top 10 with the likes of Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Teddy Swims, Sabrina Carpenter, and Post Malone. Born in Athens, Alabama, Reeves grew up in a musical household; her father, John Mark “Hershey” Reeves, was a musician, songwriter, engineer, and producer who helped establish Sound Cell Studios in Huntsville, Alabama, where Reeves recorded her first album. She began her musical odyssey at a young age, honing her skills in the church environment.

From competing in youth worship band competitions to securing a record deal and making albums, her trajectory mirrored the classic path of aspiring musicians. Since 2009, she has released five extended plays and six studio albums, as well as 26 singles.

Curb Records band Sidewalk Prophets is excited to announce their upcoming “Looking Up Tour” featuring “American Idol” alum, Megan Danielle.

BMI will celebrate the songwriters and publishers behind the year’s best in Gospel at the 2025 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards, held at Flourish Atlanta on Thursday, April 3rd. World-renowned Gospel music pioneer and pastor John P. Kee will be honored as a Trailblazer of Gospel in recognition of his award-winning career spanning over 40 years.

Throughout the ceremony, BMI will also recognize the songwriters, producers and music publishers of the past year’s 25 most-performed Gospel songs in the United States. The BMI Gospel Song, Songwriter and Publisher of the Year will also be named during the inspirational gathering. John P. Kee, known as the “Prince of Gospel Music,” is a prolific multiple award-winning singer/songwriter and beloved pastor who is widely recognized for his contributions to contemporary Gospel music.

Kee’s musical talents were discovered at an early age where after feeling inspired by the music heard in church, he began playing piano and writing songs at only eight years old. In the mid 1980’s, he started a community choir in Charlotte that eventually became known as the widely celebrated New Life Community Choir (NLCC).

Over the course of his professional career spanning almost four decades he has written music for Hallmark, Inc., The Hawkins Family, Daryl Coley, Billy Preston, Dorinda Clark Cole, Rev. James Cleveland, Bishop Rance Allen, Florida Mass Choir, Mississippi Mass Choir, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and for the legendary Dr. James Cleveland’s Gospel Music Workshop of America, among others. His music has been featured in film, television, commercials and on Saturday Night Live.

Throughout his solo career and his work with NLCC, he has amassed 37 GMWA Excellence Awards, 27 Stellar Awards, three BMI Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, a Soul Train Music Award, a Trailblazer Award from former President Bill Clinton and received seven GRAMMY nominations. Adding to his tremendous list of accolades, Kee was inducted into the International Gospel Hall of Fame in 2005 and was previously honored at the BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards in 2001 and 2005.
