Shane & Shane Capture Powerful Night Of Worship With ‘Psalms, Hymns, And Spiritual Songs (Live)’ Due March 17

Internationally renowned worship leaders and preeminent songwriters of the genre for more than two decades, Shane & Shane return on March 17 with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs (Live). The Worship Initiative set, recorded live at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, captures a powerful night of worship featuring 10 selections—both previously released and all-new songs.

Produced by Bryan Fowler (TobyMac, Chris Tomlin) along with Shane Barnard—who also co-wrote each track—Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs (Live) includes additional vocals from The Worship Initiative’s Davy Flowers, Aaron Williams, and John Marc Kohl, as well as Trenton Bell.

Among the project’s highlights are two newly penned songs: debut single “You’ve Already Won,” a victorious proclamation of the finished work of Christ written by Barnard and Fowler; and “All Sufficient Merit,” which will be available on streaming platforms February 3. Extolling Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice, the latter track—penned by Bethany Barnard, Shane Barnard, and Bryan Fowler—joyfully declares, “It is done/It is finished/No more debt I owe/Paid in full all sufficient merit now my own.”

“There’s a theme in these songs, and it’s the same theme in everything that we do,” explains the duo’s Shane Everett. “We use the scriptures to remind ourselves that Jesus has won, and He’s given us a way when there was no way. This album, from the recording itself to the lyrics of the songs, points to Jesus. As we seek Him, He answers. It’s cool to experience this together, and on this specific night in Lynchburg we did.”

“The live experience is very special for us, especially when we can push record and capture it,” Shane Barnard adds. “We love Colossians 3:16 and we love seeing it happen in real-time when God’s people gather to teach and admonish one another in all wisdom through singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Something special happens in that act; it’s undeniable.

When we’re asking God to convince us—through people singing next to us, in front of us, and behind us—to believe in His love and grace, and the reality that the finished work of Christ is bigger than our sin, that’s when His Word begins to dwell richly in us.”

[Review] Crazy Things Like That – See Your Shadow

See Your Shadow pours his heart and soul into “Crazy Things Like That”. Wild goings-on takes hold of the narrative. There is a clear sense of playfulness throughout the entirety of the track. A sense of admiration can be seen as the verses expand upon the initial burst of energy.

Classic rock, country, and a hint of that 70s singer-songwriter gleam all effortlessly adorns the overall approach. Perhaps best of all is the way that the many layers interact to create this vivid explosion of color.
The rollicking rhythm proves to be undeniably catchy. Starting things off in style the piece has a rambunctious energy to it one that draws the listener in.

Lyrics simply further sell this sense of determination. Proving to have the utmost awe for those individuals who can find their own way, the song is a celebration of those who do things a little bit differently. Much of the experience has this gracefulness about it, the sort of thing that goes right for the very heart.

Word choice matters tremendously, as he incorporates a large amount of description into the entirety of the whole track.

Perhaps best of all the backing band does an exceptional job of keeping up with the vocals, ensuring that it feels like a fully realized, unified whole. “Crazy Things Like That” taps into a sheer force of nature for See Your Shadow celebrates the
small joys that life brings.

[Review] Point Me East – John McDonough

A rustic folk musing takes shape as John McDonough crafts a hushed sense of awe with “Point
Me East”. Things here have a whispered grace to them. He keeps things to the absolute essentials,
opting for his voice a guitar, and very little else.

By allowing this near-silence plenty of room to roam there is a fervent belief in the world. Poetry is employed over the course of the journey as he is trying to find something to discover himself in the midst of all this searching. Easily the highlight of the work comes from his steady vocals that convey so much compassion.
The reverence he shows for the world proves to be one of the highlights of the work. How he manages to explore the world around him is doubly refreshing, as he makes sure to hold nothing back.

A delicate arrangement takes hold, one that opts for easy-going rhythms and a genteel groove that does not give up. Within the very fabric of the track, he has a grace to his words, one that feels doubly refreshing to hear.

Nods to contemporary groups like Fleet Foxes and the classics like Michael Hurley adorn the entirety of the piece. Yet, for all these reference points, he creates a world that is distinctly his own. “Point Me East” features the intrinsic beauty of John McDonough in creating a rather soothing world, one that has a doubly refreshing stance about it.

Matt Redman Supports ‘The Chosen’ TV Series With New Song

Matt Redman is a GRAMMY-Award winning worship leader and songwriter who has been a leading contributor to the global Church’s songbook over the last twenty years.

He recently announced a new album, ‘Lamb of God’, introduced with first single ‘Son of Suffering’, which will be part of The Chosen’s third season’s finale.

The new project, Redman’s 17th album, is expected to be the most unique and immersive experience he has done as an artist so far. ‘Son of Suffering’ was penned by Redman alongside worship leaders and writers David Funk (Bethel Music), Aaron Moses (Maverick City Music) and Nate Moore (Church of The City).

It was recorded at the historic Catholic Mission San Juan Capistrano and encapsulates the mysterious beauty of Christ’s blood and tears.

Jonathan Brown, President of Integrity Music, says “It is such an honor and delight for us to champion Matt Redman in his collaboration with The Chosen, and being able to communicate the wonder of Jesus’ love and his solidarity with us in our own pain. Matt’s song ‘Son of Suffering’ encapsulates the mysterious beauty of Christ’s blood and tears, and it mirrors the beautiful mission of The Chosen. ‘Son of Suffering’ carries Matt’s passion to find new ways of singing about the eternally glorious theme of the cross of Christ, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to share this collaboration with the world.”

LambofGodMattRedman

A sense of divine acquaintance with grief and suffering shines through the song, painting a worshipful picture of Jesus’ humility and compassion. The Chosen is the free show that tens of millions of people won’t stop talking about.

A stirring and humorous drama, The Chosen creates an authentic and intimate picture of Jesus’ life and ministry, seen through the eyes of the people who knew him. The series has garnered praise from both critics and fans for its historical and biblical accuracy, playful spirit and disruptive impact.

HolyName’s Self-Titled Debut Album Tops Billboard Christian/Gospel Albums Chart

HolyName’s self-titled debut album from Facedown Records has debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Christian/Gospel Albums list, #10 on the Top New Artist Albums chart and #15 in Current Hard Music Albums.

HolyName is led by Tommy Green of Sleeping Giant fame, with the supergroup lineup rounded out by Brook Reeves (Impending Doom), Matthew Weir (Sleeping Giant), Aaron Craner and Joe Holt. Ryan Leitru (For Today) has served as their producer. HolyName’s debut full-length album HolyName showcases their signature, self-described sound: “violent worship.”

“We feel shocked and truly humbled and grateful by the people who have supported this release and made it a success,” Tommy Green says as he reflects on the project’s wildly successful debut. “The pain and the journey and the faith journey of this record is the substance of struggle and devotion that many people can identity with in these days. There is a time for lament, a time to stop and listen to the pain of the world and the pain of the soul. That is faith as well.”

The album has also received rave reviews from media and listeners, proving that HolyName is resonating as much as the band hoped.

holynameno1

“Call it “Holy Drone,” call it “Violent Worship”—but HolyName represents some of the most inspired music from the Facedown Records roster.” — Metal Injection

“With a deeply heavy sound that eschews the punchy riffs and snappy leads of modern metalcore, HolyName’s drone worship sound is definitely something new in a musical climate that badly needs creativity injected into heavy music.” — JesusFreakHideout

In the face of the enthusiastic response, the band remains committed first to the faith that fueled it. Tommy concludes,  “We hope that this record is encouraging and edifying and mournful and true. We’re so grateful: thank you. Lord Jesus, please have mercy on us. I’m so grateful.”

You can find the album on all major streaming platforms at orcd.co/holyname.

Rorie To Release “Unseen” February 3

Singer-Songwriter Rorie will release a new single “Unseen” on Friday, February 3, 2023. The song is inspired by a handful of scriptures: Romans 8:24-28, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Romans 5:5 and Hebrews 11:1.

“The words came from a season when it felt like I was losing many things. It was during this time when I was reminded how important it is to know what we truly put our hope in. It can be easy to say that we have faith or that we believe when things are going well, but when it seems like everything else is crashing to pieces – that’s when our faith can really be tested. This song is an acknowledgement of those moments of surrender, when we know that all we have is Christ and that even if that was all that we ever had, it would be enough.

Knowing Jesus is worth more than anything we may win or lose in this life, and as a Christian this reminds me of how beautiful eternity will be. No matter what this life may bring, we can look to eternity with our Savior and know that ‘it is well.’”

This is the first single to release off of her upcoming album ‘Stones of Remembrance,’ which is currently releasing one song at a time and expected in full later in 2023.
