New Single ‘Overwhelmed’ From Psalms Of David
NRT Music announces the release of “Overwhelmed,” the deeply vulnerable new single from Psalms Of David, out now. The song serves as a pivotal emotional chapter leading into Heart Surgery: Volume 2, which releases January 23, followed by the complete Heart Surgery collection on January 30. Together, the project forms a unified body of work centered on confession, healing, and surrender before God.
“Overwhelmed” reveals Psalms Of David’s struggle with mental health and the tension he feels in trying to serve God. With unflinching honesty, the song confronts unhealthy obsessions, addiction, depression, and the painful distance from God that sin can create. Lyrically transparent and spiritually exposed, the track becomes a cry of surrender–an admission that the weight is too heavy to carry alone and that only God can take over.
Written and performed by Ethan David, Psalms Of David continues his reputation for crafting songs that meet listeners in their brokenness without leaving them there. His lyrics openly wrestle with pride, misplaced worship, and the ache of feeling far from God, ultimately pointing toward grace, repentance, and the long road home. Lines like “I built this Babylon high, that’s why I fell” and “I can’t climb down this tower by myself” underscore the song’s central theme: surrender isn’t weakness–it’s survival.
Known for writing from a place of raw vulnerability, Ethan David creates music for those who recognize their need for a Savior. Whether addressing abuse, abandonment, addiction, or doubt, his songs extend an invitation into healing through Jesus–patient, welcoming, and unrelenting in love. His prayer remains consistent: that the lost come home, the broken be made whole, and the bound be set free.
Since signing with NRT Music, Psalms Of David has experienced rapid growth, including a 1,049% increase in streaming across Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music, along with a 530% rise in monthly Spotify listeners. That momentum continues to build as his debut NRT Music single, “He Loves You,” earns a nomination for The Next Big Thing Award at the 14th Annual We Love Christian Music Awards. Public voting opens Monday, January 5, and runs through February 20 at WeLoveAwards.com.
“Overwhelmed” sets the emotional tone for Heart Surgery: Volume 2. As the journey unfolds, Psalms Of David offers not polished answers, but honest prayers–creating space for listeners to encounter not just the artist’s story, but the presence of God within their own.
