Background: Sam The Psalmist was born on September 5, 1988, and hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). His early life was marked by tumultuous circumstances, as he and his family fled the violence in their homeland when he was just six years old. They sought refuge in Zambia, Botswana, and eventually settled in South Africa. This diverse background is reflected in Sam’s unique accent and cultural influences.
Raised by a strict doctor father and a creatively driven mother, Sam was instilled with a strong work ethic and resilience. Though he began his musical journey as an accompanist at the age of twelve, he remained reticent about singing. However, in his early twenties, he began receiving melodies and lyrics through dreams and divine inspiration. This led him to step into the role of a psalmist, a title he embraced after someone called him that and it resonated deeply with him.

He began hearing a melody and lyrics in his heart, singing, “I can see Your hand moving in this place.” This divine encounter was a turning point for him, leading to the completion of the song during subsequent devotional times. “Breakthrough” became a symbol of hope and healing for Sam, reflecting his journey from despair to a renewed connection with God.
Sam’s Journey: Despite being an introvert and feeling shy at times, Sam The Psalmist has embraced his role with dedication. His music is not just about performance but a prophetic form of worship. It serves as a means to express God’s heart and bring spiritual healing to others.
