Five-time Grammy nominated artist Matthew West releases his sixth book, “The God Who Stays” – out today. Published by W. Publishing Group, an imprint of Thomas Nelson, the new book is an engaging and thoughtful exploration, balanced with West’s trademark wit and humor, that helps us reconnect to the Biblical truth that God is with us. “With ‘The God Who Stays,’ I wrote the book that I needed,” shares West. “During a time of extreme isolation when our lives were dominated by words like ‘separation,’ and ‘social distancing,’ this book served as a chapter by chapter reminder of the spiritual closeness I can experience in my life moment by moment. I laughed and I cried as I poured out my heart on these pages and I hope that all who read it will reach the end saying, “I needed that reminder of the God who stays too.”
West’s current single “Me On Your Mind” is his most recent number one song, spending 6 weeks atop the Mediabase Christian Airplay and graces the top the Billboard Christian Airplay Chart for the fifth week. It marks West’s 25th number one song combined as an artist and songwriter. He recently released a reimagined duet version featuring Anne Wilson’s striking vocals which are a natural addition to the song as she also served as a co-writer on the track with West and Jeff Pardo. The accompanying video depicts West and Wilson as adults looking back at their younger selves and praising God for his constant presence in their lives. In the end, they come together to worship with West on piano and backed by a soulful choir.
The “well-rounded songwriter” (Billboard), is also set to take the stage at the Nashville Songwriter Awards (NSAI) on September 20 performing alongside artists such as Thomas Rhett, Walker Hayes, Babyface and more. West is among the top nominee earners for the GMA Dove Awards with a total of seven – including Songwriter of the Year. The awards will take place in Nashville, TN on October 18. The genre hitmaker is the reigning ASCAP Christian Songwriter of the Year, his fourth time with this honor in his career. In addition to his several RIAA Gold-certified and Platinum singles, fans can hear him on “The Matthew West Podcast” which just surpassed an impressive 2.5 million downloads and drops new episodes weekly under the “That Sounds Fun” network.
