Award-winning songwriter and recording artist SẹLaine has released “Temperaments” to Christian radio. Written by Sẹlaine and produced by Jo Deep, the song explores how easily changing circumstances can influence our emotions while pointing listeners toward the unchanging truth of God.

“I wrote ‘Temperaments’ toward the end of the pandemic, when I was just done with how bothersome life had become,” Sẹlaine shares. “It made me realize how easily external circumstances can dictate our internal state. I was trying to capture that using the analogy of waves.”

The song draws inspiration from Ephesians 4:14 and its picture of being tossed by waves and carried by every wind of doctrine. Against that instability, “Temperaments” encourages listeners to find their foundation in God rather than allowing circumstances, emotions or unanswered questions to determine their faith.

“Ultimately, the song became an encouragement to myself,” Sẹlaine says. “There’s a reason God allows everything to happen. And each time something happens, I know I’m never fighting alone and the experience increases my faith.”

Sẹlaine brings a distinctly international perspective to her music. From Malaysia to Nigeria, Canada and Oman, her global journey has helped shape a sound influenced by Christian hip-hop, folk, rock and contemporary Christian music. Born in Nigeria, she began writing at age 8 and won her first poetry writing contest at age 11 there. Today, the engineer and entrepreneur, now based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, approaches songwriting with an emphasis on emotionally honest, thought-provoking lyrics grounded in biblical truth.

With “Temperaments,” Sẹlaine offers Christian radio a relatable message for anyone navigating circumstances beyond their control: life can change quickly, but God remains constant.
