Today (Apr 5), GMA Dove Award-nominated singer, songwriter, and worship leader Sarah Kroger releases “Still Yours.” This track is from Kroger’s upcoming A New Reality, due out May 17 (Integrity Music).
Kroger’s latest single is a hopeful and vulnerable song about remaining in relationship with God, even when the initial spark has gone out. When Sarah wrote this song with Jeff Pardo and Ethan Hulse, she shared that she was struggling in her faith, which ignited the idea to write an honest song about moments when God feels far away.
“Despite the questions and doubts I’ve wrestled with, I’m choosing to believe that there’s nothing that can separate me from the love of God,” she said. The uplifting melody of “Still Yours” brings a sense of victory when Sarah sings, “You’re still good and I’m Still Yours.” Even when child-like faith fades or God seems silent, Sarah hopes “Still Yours” is a reminder that He is always there. “I’m still fighting to choose You, because I believe it’s worth it. I don’t think our story is done yet.” – Sarah Kroger
“’Still Yours’ speaks to the history of my relationship with God and falling back on that history,” Kroger shares. “That’s the beautiful thing about relationships, having a history of experiences with each other that a foundation of love is built upon. This is me saying, ‘I’m still fighting to choose You because I believe it’s worth it. Our story isn’t done yet.’”
Her continued vulnerability through her music is a hope to ignite the need for conversation around faith and doubt within the Church, and it is her mission to assure the listeners that their doubts do not disqualify them from pursuing closeness with God.
With her upcoming album, Kroger’s songs are created to reach the silent strugglers, the closet doubters, and anyone who has felt alone in their spiritual battles. “I hope people feel encouraged to bring their imperfect, questioning, doubting selves to God,” she shares. “I want people to be reminded of the beauty of His presence in the world. He’s more real than we can comprehend.”
