“The acoustic Greatest Hits album started simply: I wanted to re-record a stripped-down version of ‘Sparrows’ to go with my children’s book [Sparrows],” says Jason Gray. “When my son Kipper came by to help, he offered some ideas that took the concept of ‘acoustic’ to a whole new level. Before long, we were reimagining a full album together, each of us producing half.

“Though the album is acoustic, we wanted it to feel full—rhythm, low end, some sparkle—with the acoustic guitar at the center: percussion from the guitar body, discreet bass and a little kick where it made sense,” continues Gray. “The sparkle came from organic instruments such as dulcimers, banjos, strings, piano, etc. Each of these songs came alive in a new way.”

“Remind Me Who I Am,” for instance, was rebuilt around a banjo part that felt magical and emotional to the producers as a hammered dulcimer lifts the chorus. On the song, “Blessed Be,” Gray shares that there’s a moment on the simple, guitar/piano track that took on a Peanuts vibe. “Who better to embody the idea of the ‘lovely loser’ than Charlie Brown?” he asks.

Grammy-award winning artist Chris Tomlin announced his upcoming new album The King Is Still The King and his new single “How Good It Is” yesterday during an appearance on Fox & Friends All-American Summer Concert Series. “How Good It Is” is his brand new radio single and will be included on his 18th studio album The King Is Still The King, scheduled to be released Friday, September 26, 2025.

Yet even in their lamentation, they carry the echoes of biblical prophets—speaking truth to power, mourning for the people, crying out for a kingdom not of this world. In “Inner City Blues,” when the vocals rise, it’s more than music—it becomes intercession, a plea for restoration in broken communities.

But perhaps the most arresting spiritual moment comes with “Love is Pain.” It’s a song of heartbreak, yes, but deeper still, it’s about the consequences of misplaced love, of looking for wholeness in fallen things. Benton’s words—“No sun, just black rain, joy is no friend of mine”—are heartbreakingly honest, yet they echo Ecclesiastes: “Meaningless, meaningless… everything is meaningless.” And yet, just as Solomon concludes his writings by pointing back to God, this song draws us inward to examine where our true hope lies.

“East Meets West” and “Green Light Go” feel like movements of spiritual reconciliation—cultures, influences, even hemispheres coming together. Benton doesn’t preach through these tracks, but he proclaims. He proclaims unity. He proclaims that beauty can emerge from difference. The production—courtesy of veterans like Tim Zick and Aaron Sprinkle—is rich and immersive, but never distracting. It supports the message rather than overshadowing it. The Atmos mastering gives the album a sense of sacred space, as though you’re not just listening in a room but in a cathedral of sound.

At its core, “2 Live in O-Ma-Haw; Lyvv in Omaha” is a spiritual journey—sometimes joyful, sometimes sorrowful, always sincere.
