[Album] I Don’t Want Christmas To End – Zach Williams

Zach Williams’ first-ever full-length Christmas album, I Don’t Want Christmas To End, releases today (Provident Label Group/Sony Music). Featuring his penned title track and classics “Christmas Time Is Here” and “This Christmas,” Williams goes all out with his southern rock mastery with songs such as “Merry Christmas Baby’ and “Run Run Rudolph.” The ten-track project, produced by Jonathan Smith, was recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

From the start, this two-time GRAMMY®-winning hitmaker knew he needed the right sound and vibe to celebrate the season year after year. I Don’t Want Christmas To End goes beyond that – it’s a holly-jolly-party-turned-jam-session worthy of its title, and according to Williams, that’s due to recording at FAME.

“We knew we wanted it to have a rock and roll edge, a southern rock feel. That’s when we got the idea to go down to Muscle Shoals.” FAME, where artists from The Gregg Allman Band, Aretha Franklin, and Little Richard have recorded, is preserved in all its 1960’s rock glory and a key component in capturing the sound for I Don’t Want Christmas To End. “We got down there and all the original gear is still there from the Sixties,” Williams says, “the original rooms, the original console. Recording there really made the songs come alive even more than I thought it was going to.”

Recorded in the round, Williams and his band played their holiday favorites how they’d want to hear them. “White Christmas” became an Elvis “Blue Christmas” tribute, updated to Williams’ Arkansas and Tennessee roots. “Merry Christmas Baby” was reimagined as a Van Morrison classic. “Run Run Rudolph” became a Ray Charles-inspired piano rocker.  “Mary Did You Know” became an entirely new song with its “Mustang Sally” vibe, as if it was recorded in the Sixties. Every song, while instantly familiar, surprises with unexpected twists that still feel vintage.

With I Don’t Want Christmas To End, Zach Williams has created a holiday album that rocks around the Christmas tree while staying true to his artistry. Equal parts fun and nostalgic with a dash of prayerful hope, this classic-inspired album is easily a new Christmas favorite, for now, and for years to come.

Williams cannot wait to take these holiday songs live on the road on his “I Don’t Want Christmas To End” Tour. Featuring special guest Anne Wilson, the 11-city tour running through December will be an evening filled with music and fun celebrating the reason for the season. “With his head still full of whiskey, His eyes now full of tears
He dusted off a Bible that he hadn’t read in years.”

I pray ‘The Struggle’ can help you feel the hope of Jesus at the end of the tunnel. If you find yourself wondering, ‘Father, can You take away these tears,’ ‘The Struggle’ is my testimony that He can—and has—for me… and can for you too.”

Zach Williams earns RIAA Gold Certification For “There Was Jesus”

While GRAMMY Award-winning artist Zach Williams wrapped 2020 with another No. 1 song, a GRAMMY nomination, two GMA Dove Award wins and more, his 2021 is already off to a great start. It was just announced that the multi-week chart-topping and GRAMMY-nominated song “There Was Jesus,” his duet with Dolly Parton, has received RIAA Gold Certification. “Chain Breaker” is RIAA-certified Platinum, while “Old Church Choir” and “Fear Is A Liar” are both Gold. Chain Breaker, his GRAMMY-winning album, is also certified Gold.

Additionally, today Williams releases his latest music video for “Less Like Me,” his latest single to hit radio. The video can be viewed here. Co-written by Williams along with Mia Fieldes and Hank Bentley, there is already a phenomenal response to the song, charting at radio before officially releasing January 29. “Less Like Me” can already be heard on Sirius XM, K-LOVE, KSBJ, KLTY, among others.

While 2020 brought many cancellations and changes to the music and touring world, Williams was able to spend time with family while also songwriting, recording, and touring during many drive-in theater shows. He then added another No. 1 single to his accolades with “There Was Jesus,” the song that Williams and Parton originally debuted during the live broadcast of the 53rd Annual CMA Awards. Topping multiple charts for multiple weeks, “There Was Jesus” made the Pandora Top Spins chart for twelve consecutive weeks and was named one of Pandora’s top 100 songs across all genres. “There Was Jesus” was also WAY-FM’s top song of the year. The song also gave Williams his fifth GRAMMY nomination. The 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards will be announced on March 14, 2021, when we find out if it brings him his second career win.

“There Was Jesus” is featured on Rescue Story, which was nominated for a GMA Dove Award (Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year) and won in 2020 for Best Recorded Music Packaging. Williams was also named 2020’s GMA Dove Awards Songwriter of the Year (Artist).

During Christmas, Williams released his stellar version of “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” which was heard all throughout the holidays. Just announced this week, his “Rescue Story Tour” will plan to resume this fall. Further details will be announced.

Zach Williams – Go Tell It On the Mountain

Zach Williams – GRAMMY and GMA Dove Award-winning artist is bringing his signature style to a Christmas favorite “Go Tell It On the Mountain“.

“Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ was born – I can’t think of a more needed message right now,” Williams states on his revised classic. “2020 has shaken many of us to the core, and as this year comes to a close, I want THIS to be the message that ends our year. No matter your struggles, Jesus Christ was born to set you free. I checked another box on my bucket list – recording at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals Alabama, and this rendition is filled with a mix of the soul of that legendary studio, the camaraderie of my bandmates, and the message of hope that Jesus was born to save us all.”

Go Tell It On The Mountain

Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born
When I was a seeker
I sought both night and day
I asked the Lord to help me
And he showed me the way
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born
He made me a watchman
Upon a city wall
And if I am a Christian
I am the least of all
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born

Zach Williams & Dolly Parton “There Was Jesus” Music Video

The new music video for “There Was Jesus” from GRAMMY Award-winning artists Zach Williams and Dolly Parton makes the headlines.

Last November, Williams and Parton’s breathtaking duet was broadcast live with the audience as they sang “There Was Jesus” at the 53rd Annual CMA Awards. Since their amazing success, the song has gained incredible traction, and has become a Williams’ most successful song to date, along with the title track of his 2019 album, Rescue Story.

“When I first heard ‘There Was Jesus,’ it was one of the best songs I’d ever heard,” Parton shares about being featured on the song. She continues, “I loved Zach’s voice, and at that time I wanted to do something more uplifting. I felt like it was a Godsend, so I thought yes, this is my record and I’m going to sing with him on it! I’m really proud of how it turned out. I think people are going to get a blessing out of it. I know I have.”

With respect to the experience of Williams working with Dolly Parton, from recording the album to performing it live at the CMA Awards to finally shooting the music video, he says, “Dolly has been a champion since day one of this album. I never imagined this would happen in a million years, and the whole experience of working with her has always been an blessing and a pleasure”.
