Matthew West releases a new version of “Truth Be Told” featuring Carly Pearce.
“Truth Be Told” was featured on West’s Brand New album which dropped in 2020 and the track has been gaining momentum at radio in recent weeks.
“Truth be told, the truth is rarely told. I’m not perfect – nobody is. And I’ve wasted too much energy in my life pretending I’ve got it all together,” West shared on social media when speaking about the song. “Here’s the truth: none of us can hold it all together right now. But there is One who holds US all together. God loves and welcomes us despite our hurts, habits, flaws, and hang-ups.”
The re-imagined track is available now to download or stream.
GRAMMY nominated artist Matthew West released a new original holiday song dubbed “The Hope of Christmas”.
“I had the idea for ‘The Hope of Christmas’ pretty early in 2020,” shares Matthew West on his new holiday track. “It’s felt like we could use a little Christmas right now! I find myself looking back at the Christmases of my youth, life seemed so much simpler then. There’s a line in the song that says, ‘these days peace on earth is hard to find, and I need you to remind me one more time.’ I guess that pretty much sums up how I’ve been feeling this year, and I have a feeling I’m not the only one. I see a world reeling from the turmoil of a pandemic, political divides, and racial tension. I’ve always felt that my calling as a songwriter is to extract that hope even from situations where it seems all hope is lost. Writing this song helped me remember the reason why we can always have hope. Hope has a name. His name is Jesus, the Hope of Christmas.”
Take me back to eight years old The little church on a dead end road With a candle flicker in one hand and dad’s hand in the other
Take me back to Silent Night My heart was full and the world was right Cuz right now the world looks nothing like those innocent decembers
These days peace on earth is hard to find And I need you to remind me one more time
You’re still the hope of christmas You’re still the light when the world looks dark You’re still the hope of christmas And You’re still the hope of my heart
Watch the snow flakes falling down Like a blanket on this town For a moment we can hardly see the pain this year has brought us
May the sick find healing’s touch May hatred’s fight be won with love And may every heart make room for you the One who came to save us
I Bowed my head to pray tonight Felt my little girl by my side She slipped her tiny hand in mine And we both talked to you
And it took me back to 8 years old my daddy’s hand and a story told About Heaven’s love in a manger low And a promise that’s still true
