[EP] Christmas Is Love – Jonathan Cain

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Journey band member Jonathan Cain releases Christmas Is Love today (Nov. 4) from Identity Records with The Fuel Music distribution. The EP is available now at digital and streaming outlets everywhere via https://slinky.to/ChristmasIsLove.

Produced and written by Cain with all but one track recorded, mixed and mastered at Addiction Sound Studios by David Kalmusky (Justin Bieber, The Fray, Keith Urban), Christmas Is Love is a five-song holiday offering bearing this legendary musician’s signature. Familiar, yet unconventional, the EP paints a musical palette highlighting the remarkable story of the birth of Jesus in the opening track, “Hope Was Born,” and marvels at the miracle in “Who Is This Child” while underscoring the core message in the title track.

“Christmas is love. It is that simple,” shares Cain, as the EP highlights the artist’s brilliant keyboard work along with his dynamic vocals that have been forged through six solo albums since 2016 and as a worship leader at City Of Destiny Church in Apopka, FL where his wife, Paula White-Cain, is pastor.

“I enjoy celebrating Christmas every year,” says Cain, who remembers the joy of singing carols at home with his family growing up. “What went down in the desert at Bethlehem, it’s such a monumental miracle that shouldn’t be taken for granted. It was a game changer.”

Christmas Is Love is rounded out by Cain’s Top 5 Christmas radio hit “Wonder of Wonders,” which first released in 2019 and features GRAMMY®-nominated, Platinum®-selling Newsboys lead singer Michael Tait, and “Behold,” a song never before released but featured on Cain’s “Wonder Of Wonders Christmas Concert” from City Of Destiny last year.

Leading the new music, as well as hits from his Billboard–premiered album Unsung Noel (2017), Cain will again host a Christmas Concert from his church Dec. 18. He will also debut new music from Christmas Is Love live during his wife’s annual Unleashed Conference to take place at City Of Destiny Oct. 20 – 22.

[Album] Arise – Jonathan Cain

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Journey band member Jonathan Cain releases his solo studio album, Arise, Friday (May 27) from Identity Records with The Fuel Music distribution. Resonating with joy and a profound sense of God’s power and grace, the recording offers a wake-up call to the Church and is this iconic artist’s sixth faith-inspired, full-length project since 2016.

Mixing brand new songs with tracks from his acclaimed Oh Lord Lead Us EP, including the American SongwriterThe 700 Club-featured title track that became his biggest solo hit to date, Arise is a call for the Church’s collective voices to be heard.

“Like faith in action, the music of Arise moves to the spirit of revival. God is making his presence felt here on earth, and it’s up to us to wake up, to feel it, feel the revival and just dig in,” encourages Cain, who leads worship at City Of Destiny Church in Apopka, FL where his wife, Paula White-Cain, is pastor. “I hope that this music stirs up and awakens people in a way that they can become a part of what God is doing.”

Encouraging this participation is Arise’s anthemic lead track, “Roar.” “Release the roar, in your praise. Release the sound, call His Name. Use your voice, let it out. Silence the enemy, shout it loud,” belts Cain amidst an uplifting chorus of voices.

Arise

“We need to put roar in our praise. We better stand up for our faith,” says Cain. “As Christians, we must not sit by and say, ‘Well, politics and religion don’t matter.’ They surely do. There are a lot of people that just let status quo be, and I’m not one of them…The enemy is at our front door trying to destroy this church. We are soldiers. We wear the armor of God, so be victorious. Stand in the gap with the Holy Spirit and band together.”

Inspired by the feast of Pentecost, which is celebrated by Christians June 5 this year and marks the gift of the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus and described in Acts 2, Cain penned “Upper Room” for the new album.

“I think it’s such an important feast,” says Cain, adding, “For the apostles to win 3,000 souls to Jesus that day as nations from around the known world were in Jerusalem, it is almost as extraordinary as the resurrection. And so I thought, ‘This is really crucial for our faith. That’s a cornerstone thing.’ I try to write about the cornerstones. What do we build faith on?”

Come meet our God in the upper room
Come feel a sound like the driving wind
Tongues of fire fill the upper room
Holy Spirit fill our hearts within
(From “Upper Room” chorus)

Cain, a Chicago native, has spent decades pouring out his musical gifts in front of huge audiences, but when not touring, he can be found serving his home church and has never been more fulfilled than in his role as worship leader.

“Worship is ‘What do you have for me?’ God wants to know what you’re bringing,” he says. “A lot of times people come to worship thinking that they’re going to get something out of this when really, it’s the exact opposite. You need to lay it down at the altar for God. That’s what worship is.”

Produced by Cain, mixed by David Kalmusky (Justin Bieber, The Fray, Keith Urban), mastered by GRAMMY Award-winning Adam Ayan (Paul McCartney, Carrie Underwood, Foo Fighters), Arise was recorded at Cain’s state-of-the-art Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville with select parts done remotely.

01) Roar
02) Beautiful Thunder
03) Arise
04) Oh Lord Lead Us
05) Upper Room

Along with his solo music, Cain wrote and recorded new music with his band Journey, which will release Freedom July 8. The band’s first album of all new songs in over a decade, Journey’s Cain has a long line of hits that bear this artist’s signature. He has written or co-written such massive radio hits as the best-selling catalog rock song in iTunes’ history, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and “Who’s Crying Now,” “Open Arms,” “Faithfully” and many more.

[EP] Oh Lord Lead Us – Jonathan Cain

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Journey band member Jonathan Cain globally releases his six-song EP, Oh Lord Lead Us, today (Oct. 29) from Identity Records with The Fuel Music distribution. The EP precedes Cain’s upcoming and sixth solo album in as many years (release date to be announced) and continues this iconic artist’s offerings of faith-inspired new music.

Following the release of his biggest solo hit to date with the title track “Oh Lord Lead Us,” which was featured by American SongwriterThe 700 ClubABC AudioWorship LeaderUltimate Classic Rock and many more, Cain’s new EP is a beautifully crafted musical invitation to prayer, renewal and commitment.

“It’s not just ‘I go to church,’ it’s a love exchange, a love surrender,” shares Cain, who leads worship weekly at City Of Destiny where his wife, Paula White-Cain, is the Senior Pastor. “We have a 24/7 God, and every year we need to reestablish a covenant with our faith and recommit with praise, worship and prayer. The more you can commit, the more blessed you will be.”

Cain, who is earning his pilot’s license, likens it to flying an airplane. “You can’t just halfway be a pilot, you have to be all in.”

Sharing his personal faith story along with new music in December on the debut episode of the Pure Flix show, “Rockin On Heavens Door,” Cain’s “Oh Lord Lead Us” will also serve as the show’s theme song, opening each episode that is set to feature other well-known musical guests.

In addition to the title song, Oh Lord Lead Us includes “Something Greater,” named after and inspired by his wife’s acclaimed book, and the American Songwriter-premiered “Beautiful Thunder.”

“There’s a conversation going on up there as sound waves roll across the land,” thought Cain as he watched a recent storm near his home in Florida. “You can feel the earth shake, the ground beneath your feet rolling. It’s one of the only places you can see power like that. This is a way that God can get to us, how He got to me. Next time people hear a thunderstorm, I hope they think of this song.”

Roll on, roll on

Mighty waves that shake the ground

Roll on, roll on

Move with glorious sound

Beautiful Thunder

(From “Beautiful Thunder” chorus)

Produced by Cain, mixed by David Kalmusky (Justin Bieber, The Fray, Keith Urban), mastered by GRAMMY Award-winning Adam Ayan (Paul McCartney, Carrie Underwood, Foo Fighters), Oh Lord Lead Us was recorded at Cain’s state-of-the-art Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville with select parts done remotely.

With more solo music, a songwriting event and a Christmas concert to be announced in the near future, Cain, with his band Journey, closed the second and final night of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas Sept. 18 in an iHeart-lauded “epic performance.” Featured this week in the Wall Street Journal, Cain also led worship during the Unleashed Conference hosted by Paula White Ministries (Sept. 30 – Oct. 3).

Cain is further host of the “Anchored” podcast, sharing his heart on topics of faith, family, marriage, manhood and music, and is featured on his wife’s television shows “Paula Today” and “Faithfully” seen on the Life Network For Women and Daystar Television.

Releasing five solo albums over the last several years, including his 2019, Billboard-featured More Like Jesus that Parade calls a “triumphant new album,” the solo recordings follow a long line of hits that bear this iconic artist’s signature. As a member of Journey, Cain has written or co-written such massive radio hits as the best-selling catalog rock song in iTunes’ history, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and “Who’s Crying Now,” “Open Arms,” “Faithfully” and many more.
