[Album] Desert Rain – Trinity

Awards-winning, Netherlands-based band Trinity releases Desert Rain globally today from The Fuel Music. First released in the Netherlands in 2016, and having already received three Dutch, Silver Dove Awards, including “Album Of The Year,” the album is available now. The recording from these “craftsmen of heavenly parties” mixes music styles from all over the world to create a magnetic sound, blending genres into an eclectic music experience that is sweet to the ears and uplifting to the soul.

The world-music pop flair of Desert Rain was inspired by the band’s travels internationally, jamming with immigrant-musicians wherever they were in time and space. The resulting warm-blooded, passionate rhythms and melodies are steeped with lyrics birthed in real-life stories, all offering hope for a brighter future.

“When we recorded Desert Rain, we set out to create an album that captures our experiences and faith in songs; an album that shows both the darkness of the world we live in and the light piercing through it,” says Trinity’s Elbert Smelt (lead vocals, flutes, saxophone). “It shares the conviction that we as human beings are meant for more. When people make peace, join hands and stand against injustice, and feel hope rising up — when someone is healed and when you hear beautiful music: then the real world is visible.”

The first album released internationally in over two years, Desert Rain precedes a series of new recordings and appearances from Trinity slated for this year and to be announced soon. It also follows 2019’s globally acclaimed album The In Between that was produced by Grammy-nominated, multiple Dove Award-winning Ian Eskelin and Barry Weeks.

[EP] Brighter Days – Blessing Offor

Multi-talented singer songwriter Blessing Offor releases his debut EP, Brighter Days today via Chris Tomlin’s Bowyer & Bow imprint in partnership with Universal/Capitol Christian Music Group. Filled with thought-provoking lyrics alongside Blessing’s powerful voice and expert musicianship, Brighter Days is full of infectious optimism that jumps right out of the speaker. Blessing’s ability to bring emotion to life is apparent, and each song acts as a window into Blessing’s extraordinary make-up.

The youngest of six siblings, the Nigerian-born singer/songwriter immigrated to the United States with his uncle at the age of six. Born blind in one eye, Blessing’s parents sent him to the United States in an effort to restore his vision, though unfortunately, he lost his complete eyesight by age 10. Gravitating towards the piano before losing his vision, Blessing’s school teachers helped nurture his talent, and he soon found himself at Belmont University honing his craft in Music City. Hints of pop, Motown, and soul flourish across Blessing’s music as he sings of optimism, hope, and finding silver linings in dark clouds.

[Album] Bliss – Phil Madeira

For decades, Phil Madeira has written poignantly about the trials and triumphs of the human heart. He reaches another creative peak with his latest release, Bliss, whose songs about intimacy, intermingled lives, and innuendo all combine to create an appropriately sunny soundtrack for the Valentine’s Day season.

The album’s title says it all—Bliss captures its creator in a joyful mood, celebrating the new love that has brought happiness and contentment to his modern moment. Inspired by songwriting heroes like The BeatlesRandy NewmanNina Simone, and Dr. JohnBliss encompasses the full range of Madeira’s influences, from piano-driven jazz to southern soul to swampy blues. In other words, it’s an Americana album by a songwriter who helped pioneer the genre, not only as a prolific solo artist, but also via his work as Emmylou Harris‘ longtime collaborator and bandmember.

Madeira is no stranger to a finely-crafted love song. Two years earlier, he released Open Heart on Valentine’s Day 2020, filling that record with songs that explored the full arc of a relationship. Phil madeira open heart captured everything from the rush of new love to the sobering reality of a breakup, though, Bliss places its focus on the positivity generated by a happy, healthy relationship. The album marks the completion of a trilogy that also includes Open Heart and Hornet’s Nest, with the three albums chronicling a journey that includes heartbreaking loss, grief, rebirth, and the celebration of new love.

The songwriter knows his fans have come to expect that diversity from his music. Even so, he boldly emphasizes positivity on Bliss, an album that unfolds like a personal declaration of contentment from a man in love.

“I wasn’t writing [this album] thinking about the consumer,” he explains. “I was writing thinking about this woman I’m so crazy about.”

Bliss arrives just in time for Valentine’s Week celebrations, with Phil Madeira bringing together themes of love, joy, collaboration, and innovation.
